I reckon this is the opening partnership that Pakistan need to persist with, Butt is above average and Farhat strictly average. When compared to the other potential openers, Farhat and Butt rise above them, Butt because he does actually have some talent and Farhat because he has got centuries in his last few tests (however fluky they may be). Though my personal prefered openers in all forms of the game is Salman Butt/Kamran Akmal.
