Is Kashif Ali still injured? He is a quicker and taller version of Khurram Shehzad and would have been ideal test match bowler for us.

England provided a blueprint to Pakistani think tanks on how to take wickets on a dead pitch. They brought in tall, lanky bowlers who consistently bowled short deliveries and hit the deck hard to generate bounce. We need similar bowlers, not ones who prefer to bowl half-volleys for easy pickings. Where is Ihsanullah? Has he recovered? He was looking like an amazing Test prospect before his injury.

Ihsanullah hasn't recovered yet. Many Pakistani pacers have returned from injuries as weaker bowlers, I hope Ihsanullah comes back strong. Junaid Khan for example never regained his pace and form after injury, Shaheen is going the same way, he hasn't been the same since that injury.

Add Naseem and Hasnain into that.

Although I think Pakistan can bounce back by playing on a cracked up pitch with their wily old spinners, it is not a guaranteed route to victory. Leach, Bashir and even Root are all more than capable of taking big wicket hauls of their own on such pitches; and they have in the past.
Yes , but you have to take chance with turning pitch , there is no other way.

Nasser in his colum writes I don’t rate this Eng victory. Basically it’s pathetic opposition if Naqli & PCB have any shame they should cancel this & future series for 12 months make players play 4 day cricket for next 12 months. No one will die if PSL is cancelled for 1 season.

Agha as 5th bowling option means PAK will once again struggle to picks wickets ! Any latest pics of pitch ?
ENG might have 2 changes - Stokes & Rehan for Woakes & Bashir .

Shafique
Hurraira
Shan
Saud
Kamran
Rizwan
Aga
Jamal
Nauman
Mehran
Hamza or Mo.Ali

Zahid M is terrible pls don't play him .going with 2 pacers as I assume this will be a turning track

BBC Cricket : All-rounder Stokes and Potts replace Chris Woakes and Gus Atkinson in two changes to the side that won a record-breaking first Test.

This. Especially when that 4 man attack is not particularly threatening anyway.

This is great news for Pakistan. A Stokes who can't share much of the bowling workload is a liability.

No need for Atkinson now that Bobzy not playing :ROFLMAO:

Carse and Leech still there to torment Rizwan hahaahahahhaahhaahahahahahahahahaahaahhahHhHH

Rizwan isn't performing in test because test isn't his format. Nor is odi. Just like Bradman, He's a one format t20 specialist 🫠

2nd Test lineup for PAK has been announced

Abdullah
Saim
Shan
Kamran
Saud
Rizwan
Agha
Aamer
Zahid
Sajid
Noman

So PAK are playing only 1 seamer and 3 spinners . Interesting.

And this is the first time they are doing it thank god they are using their head this time always play spinners vs sena thats how india does it.

What is this joke of a bowling attack??
Are they gonna all bowl negative line to restrict run scoring? Is that the plan to stop bazball?

India usually plays 2 seamers bro . There were reports of some protests in Islamabad possibly shifting the venue of 3rd Test to Multan as well

PCT should choose the same strip then , remove Jamal and add Mehran as well and bowl 6 spinners :inti

Decent team by England. Joe Root's pretty useful as a third spinner in the subcontinent.

Abdullah shafique or saim ayub
Shan masood
Saud shakeel
Kamran gulam
M rizwan
Salman agha
Amer jamal
Mir hamza
Sajid khan
muhammad ali
Mehran mumtaz

That would be my pick you definetly need 5 bowlers on these pitches due to the flat nature and amount of overs needing to be bowled

I can't even begin to comprehend this brain-dead decision to not play a single specialist pacer. If Shaheen and Naseem are unavailable, play Mir Hamza who has done modestly well in the few chances he has gotten.

If the pitch doesn't provide enough turn, England could target 1000+ here.

Lol hahaha Sajid tinda ganja is playing as well as that garbage zahid too replacing garbage abrar.

Chacha noman is not that good either but he is decent and better than these losers.
They are gonna get smashed as usual.

Lol no not that 120 ks thunderbolt bowler. He is not needed.
Aamer Jamal is much better than that male version of female fast bowler.

I dont understand how in any proper set up or team you can have Rizwan batting ahead of these two conventional batsmen in any format!

Salman Agha pinned down at 7 to bat after Rizwan at 6 in Test cricket.

Iftikhar often pushed to number 8 in ODIs whilst Rizwan bats at 4.

Why cant Pakistan get this right??? These are two proper batsmen being screwed over to pamper a technically flawed tailender style player! When will the management wake up and sort out this issue??

All three spinners Pakistan are playing have been terrorised by England and Australia, but I guess they were not sure who will perform better so played all 3. It is a shame Khurum was not fit enough to be in the squad to replace one of the spinners. The only thing Pakistan are likely to achieve with this up is good over rate, unless the curator is able to dish out a turning pitch.

Never expected even the slightest hint of Iftimania from you man.

These really are crazy times in Pakistan cricket.

Sajid averages 38 in test cricket and that zahid garbage has average of 37 in first class cricket.LOL
PCB should have given opportunity to younger spinners

It’s just an example.

You can’t screw players over by playing them in positions they are not accustomed to. Iftikhar is a proper middle order batsman, not a great one but he bats ahead of Rizwan in any proper XI

Tomorrow you can add Usman Khan and Tayyab Tahir in the Pakistan XI, and then what? They bat at 7 and 8 so Rizwan bats at 4????

Why is Saim Ayub still opening?

Why is Agha batting so down the order when he's in great form and has shown a fighting mindset against England?

Why is Zahid even an option let alone as a third spinner? The guy can barely land the ball accurately and is a terrible spinner in FC cricket who averaged 41 last season. Just play a second seamer.

If this team loses the toss, England will bash them into oblivion. They made good decisions but are still completely unaware of how to approach team composition. Seems more like a Hail Mary play where you hope the pitch cracks up and you bat first.

Reusing the pitch is quite a good idea to be honest. 3.5 day game and more exciting, also gives Pakistan a 30% chance of winning whereas on another flat road it would have been 2%.
Damn this must sting for Pakistan fans. English fan saying how much chance Pakistan have in winning a test series in their home. But yes England are a very strong side. Especially on flatties.

Hope to see a good competitive game. Want some pace and bounce. Where is the pace and bounce from Pakistan
They were known for pace in 90s and 2000. Everything disappeared in tests. Can't tell if it's due to tampering, fitness, match fixing or what. Shoaib is a once In a lifetime express pacer. He did fail drug tests. So maybe without it he wouldn't have achieved those speeds? Don't know.
Maybe they were never that quick after all barring 2 or 3 players in test cricket.

How can they convert a pitch to turn in few days?
Obviously they're going to reuse the first test pitch as hail mary to try and get spin from day one. The issue is that if Pakistan lose the toss, England will get first use of what's already a fifth day pitch. Sure it's been dried and maybe rolled but that's still only going to keep it in shape for a day or two.

If Pakistan lose the toss, it could be a disaster. They're betting everything on winning the toss and batting first. Even India hasn't tended to do that in a long long time.

What has the selection commitee..to do with playing 11? Isnt playing 11 the prerogative…of captain and coach? Why unnecesssary interference form these clowns in selection committee? Havent they heard..too many cooks spoil the broth? Who is going to own up to the responsibility?

Shame that they have already made Jason Gillespie, subservient , and lame duck in front of these clowns..

Zahid Mehmood has a T20esque ER of 6.94 in Test cricket.

And we're banking on him to contain England's Bazballers.
I can only think that he's playing on Sindh quota. Can't be anything else. He has very ordinary stats and always gets taken for plenty. In all honestly he can be much worse than Abrar.

What a strange team selection by PCB 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
Only one pacer and that too allrounder.
Sajid Khan, Agha and Ayub have similar bowling style.. So instead of Sajid, Hamza should have been selected..
Another loss is on the way 👍🏻

A spin fest!

Expect to see a lot of sweep shots from England, a lot of boundaries, a high scoring rate, and maybe some soft dismissals.

Stokes can get reverse though. That was missing from the 1st Test with Chris Woakes famous 120kph dobblers.

Ben Stokes has no issue with Pakistan exploiting home advantage for second Test

England Test captain shared following thoughts in pre match presser:

“It’s the first time ever I’ve played on a used wicket in a Test series. It could be a tactic,” he said.

“But I think if we went 1-0 down at home, we would probably be going to our groundsman at the second Test saying, ‘can we have a bit more of this and a bit more of that’ to use home advantage in our favour.

“We could sit here and say ‘it’s going to do this, it’s going to do that’ but who knows? A used pitch brings a lot more into the game for both teams, actually. If it does spin more, if it does reverse more, there’s more options there for both teams.”

“I’d written a few teams down with me not bowling and it just didn’t work,” he admitted.

“It’s obviously got to be sensible but I’m playing as a third seamer. I’m available to bowl and when I sense the time is right for me to maybe come on and make an impact, there won’t be any doubts in my mind that I can come on and bowl.

“Not only do I have a goal of getting my body back into a state of being able to play but I also have an individual goal of making sure I’m physically fitter than when I got injured. I’ve put myself through a fitness test over the last couple of days and come through that pretty well.”

“I’m not slowly eking all of the Durham team in, don’t worry worry about that!” he joked.

“But it’s going to be a proud moment for the club, looking at things like that. Durham have a great record of producing England cricketers, in particular fast bowlers.”

Stokes can get reverse though. That was missing from the 1st Test with Chris Woakes famous 120kph dobblers.
Yep. But it's left to be seen whether this pitch/square do allow for reverse to occur.

I'm not sure he can bowl 15 overs in an innings anymore let alone 20-25.

Anyway, it's one are PAK can look to target.

You guys are the last people to have a pop at us about pace when your history is laced with medium pacers.

Ihsanulllah , Wasim jr , Zeeshan zameer , Hasnain, Kashif Ali etc are still there but injuries and mis management are causing issues.
Except Hasnain , none of those guys have even half a chance of being a Test class seamer.

In your entire history you guys only had 3 fast bowlers with over 250 test wickets. You speak as if you had 25. In the last 20 years we have been clearly better
