Umar Gul to McCullum, FOUR, poor delivery, too much width outside off, McCullum adjusts quickly on the back foot and punches it hard past cover, deep point ran across but couldn't mop up

Umar Gul to McCullum, FOUR, Gul bowls it too full and gives the batsman the opportunity to drive through the line, gets his weight behind the ball and pushes it past mid-on

Umar Gul to McCullum, FOUR, that's a cracker of a drive, Gul errs by overpitching outside the off stump, McCullum gets his weight behind the shot and smashes it past mid-off

Same stuff repeated I don't call that good bowling

You are definately looking like a benchwarmer to me.

The thing with Vettori is that he gives a first chance to you as a bowler & if you don't take it you pay for it, bowlers suffering due to poor catching in my preview I mentioned that slip catching will be the weakness of Pakistan

This is not good. Indians have done good against sri lanka and NZ is doing good here. Vary sad day, Thanks to Mr. Imran Farhat

Haroonrasheed for coach? anybody?

To be honest, even though we chose to bowl first, taking 6 wickets on the first day is not bad at all.

I am a Gul fan & wanted him to play & get wickets & he is frustrating me now, I am a Bolan Braveheart and I Play attacking cricket & give attacking statements

Again a wrong decision by Rudi...he froze the ball way before it hit the pad and naturally it was outside off...in the full replay at the point of contact the ball was smack dab in front of off stump...

Real pity this. Pretty good day of test cricket. Couple of wickets early, then a fightback from the Kiwi batsman, before some quick wickets which brought us back in the game.

Then the turning point, with that joker Farhat dropping Vettori first ball. Would have exposed the tail with New Zealand struggling to get 250. Now they're looking at 350 minimum and a completely different complexion to the game.

As I said, pity.

I gotta love this review system. Doesn't matter it went against us but at least fair decision been made

All Bravehearts are requested to report to the official thread in PP League section. Thanks.

I was quite satisfied after day one how about you guys?

Would've been even more satisfied if Damaad could catch....

But yeah, it was an up and down day for us. Bowlers bowled well, especially Asif towards the later part of the day. Shown his flair and his ability.

Yes and no. After they were 140 odd for 2 it was a great fightback to reduce them to 211/6, which could have easily been 211/7 and them struggling to get 250.

Now they're looking at 350 which is desperately disappointing from our point of view.

Pretty interesting day's cricket. Pakistan did well to restrict NZ to 6/276 on what is a very small ground and a good batting track- goes to show the bowling was pretty tight.

According to PP, Asif is tired, no good, Gul is rubbish no good etc.

But consider this in the lead up:

Asif hasn't played Test cricket for 2 years and came back very well.
It is both Aamer and Ajmal's 4th Tests ever.
Gul was under a big form cloud going into the game.
And been a long time since Pakistan played Test cricket.
Oh yeah and the captaincy.

Aamer was noticeably pacy. Captaincy was pretty good. Fielding not too bad by Pakistan standards.

Imran Farhat......disgrace. If you will lie to your teammates that the ball bounced you should be nowhere near any professional sports team.

Sets it up for an interesting day tomorrow. Good to see Pakistan back playing Test cricket.

One thing though, it's great to have test cricket back, and that too on a surface which makes for compelling viewing. Asif looked top class for someone who hasn't played a test in over two years. Aamer was dangerous, Ajmal looked handy and will have a bigger role as the match progresses. Gul was unlucky, and faded later. But positive signs, Imran Farhat aside.

Asif's day would ave been much better since he is on comebadk and if Farhat had caught it then he would probably be over the moon. But I hope that he gets a five wicket haul

the mccullum referral shouldn't have been overturned, when the ball struck the pad, you could see both off and middle stump. i don't think this system has a future in cricket. an umpire whose won umpire of the year on numerous occasion was proven wrong when infact it seemed as if he was right.

Well said

Slight advantage NZ I think. Looks like a typical Middle-Earth seaming wicket in the late spring. Interesting to see how Pakistan bat on this.

I guess one should say that it was a pretty good day for Pakistan. The fact, that we are not playing much test cricket, this wasnt a bad start. Absolutely no complaints from the bowlers as everyone done their job. The way Vettori and McCulum were batting towards the end, not a good sign for Pakistan as these two can bat against any world attack. Lets hope for some early wickets tomorrow.

How will you define that?

Reviews are great, remember Umar Akmal decision in CT, just for those cases alone, it is good to have the system. I remember that the 3rd umpire thing also had it's opponents before it caught on. We just need to learn to use it better.

This is fine day for Pakistan and slightly advantage New Zealand has now.

Fine comeback by bowlers and kept bowling in tight, continued to trouble batsmen and disappointing performance from some fielders.

Overall, Pakistan bowlers still have another chance to make comeback in second inning of New Zealand to dominate NZ batting line. Pakistan batsmen will have to perform somehow.

When the ball squirts and seams around like a *****. Bit like England.

Good job by Pakistani bowlers. Asif was great with the old ball. I think MoYo should have delayed the new ball as the old one started to reverse.

What happened to Gul after bowling 7 of 8 median? He got frustrated on I-m-ran Fart or just lost the plot? He should be the one who blocks the run flow while Ameer and Asif attack.

Let's hope we get the kiwis out under 350 or this one is heading in the wrong direction.

Having been put into bat, NZ have done well enough to last as they did.

Vettori is making Pakistan pay for their earlier slip. Hope he lasts long enough tomorrow to take it away from you guys.

Thank You, now go and play on your seaming track which is helping the bowlers.
