Arafat Has Bowled Wonderfully Today!
Best Bowler By Far

Hats Off To Him For Working Very Hard!

Most disappointing is that we havent seen many good deliveries being bowled...

Thats Probably The Only Positive That Came Out For Pakistan Today!!

The Rest Was Just Sri Lanka!!
Great Day For Them And They Are Well And Truly On Top!!

Great Batting From Them!

100+ runs scored behind point...that is just shocking bowling

If Sri Lanka are looking for a massive lead for around 600 they need to get the runs quick and declare at lunch or before lunch, otherwise this is going for an obvious draw. Pakistan don't play their test cricket at a fast run rate like Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka should know that.

Very well played, SL!!

Our bowlers didnt look threatening at all... Apart from Arafat, nobody bowled well at all!

When you let batsmen like Samarawera hit 100's you know your bowling is not of quality.. However I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt to Pak this time as they havent played test cricket in a while and it is just a bit of rustiness showing (HOPEFULLY)....

Samaraweera is a actually a good batsman under these conditions.

It's only Day 1 has passed so far. This test is still not over. There are four days to go with. So, relax and enjoy the Real Cricket after 14 months.

I think its pretty disgarceful we let the likes of Samarawera and Jaywardene score runs and get centuries. Lets not forget that Jaywardene was woefully out of form before this series. Only expect a team like Pakistan to make the likes of Ashley Giles, Paul Harris, Ian Bell look like world beaters and to let out of form players find form.

Are you forgetting the fact that Pakistan is playing Real Cricket after 14 months? You expected Pakistan team to fair well out of nowhere? For God sake, have patient with Pakistan. It's Pakistan first test after 14 months. Therefore, Pakistan team was supposedly to fair not reasonably well, and it was expected. Pakistan might need more Test matches to gain the rhythm back.

Whenever you let the opposition team score 400 plus runs, you are more or less behind the opposition immediately. The Sri Lankans have already scored 400 on the first day and are well on course to score 600-700 based on what i see about the pitch, the bowling attack led by the best legspinner in the world.

Scoring close 400 runs is a tough ask against Murali and Mendis. And i dont back the Pakistani tail to handle the Murali, Mendis. Our bowlers were suppossed to neutralize the Sri Lankans but unfortunately the idiocy of the PCB has been exposed once again for producing such a flat pitch.

I know but it was expected. What were you thinking that Pakistan should have restricted Sri Lanka in less than 300 runs because Pakistan is playing much Test cricket? Pakistan only has had one experienced and that is Umar Gul. Yasir Arafat is still new to Test cricket and it's Sohail Khan debut today. It's fair to say that Gul and Danish didn't perform well but Danish is playing after 14 months. Meanwhile, Gul couldn't bowl well simply because he never was good with new ball, and therefore, i was in favor of Sohail Tanveer over Umar Gul. Let's not get into the details now.

The point is that Pakistan team is completely new and young, and most importantly, playing after 14 months. Therefore, Pakistan team might be expected to struggle much. Have Patient

Sohail khan is our next mohammad sami...and we don't want tht. We were expecting him to be fast but also someone who can swing the bowl but now we know thts not the case. We need next asif...and we prob have one , tht is Anwar ali who can swing the ball both ways and at a good pace but again its pakistan....nothin we can do..

Again I repeat myself..Afridi is a better spinner than Danish and should have been selected.

Wow was akmal in keeping.

I totally agree with you.Afridi is a much better bowler than Kaneria..But Im sure you will se Kaneria taking some tailender wickets tomorrow and that is how he has managed to be a part of this Pakistan line up..should be replaced by someone better..Afridi is a better option

A i said in the other thread:

"Rofl, im not surprised.

Guys here were also crying to have Talha and Aamir in the team. Same thing would have happened.
Lack of experience means poor bowling.

Guys like Tanvir were singled out as poor test-match bowlers, ignoring the fact that Tanvir himself is a relatively new bowler.

I bet all those guys who said ICL players like Abdul-Razzaq, Rana and Saqlain are passed it are eating humble pie"

This track is dead, even Faisal Iqbal can hit double century on this flat pan. This match will end up being a dull draw.

We have to bat on the same track also.......i'd wait if i were you :)

Lankan pacers won't be able to do much, we just have to play their spinners for mere 4 days, and there's Faisal Iqbal (best player of spin in our team) so I am pretty sure this will be a draw. :yk

Guys, the first day was poor all round, the bowlers didnt bowl well, runs were leaked all over and chances were dropped.

Things can only get better, its the first test we are playing after a long time so there is some excuse.

We should all just calm down and c how things pan out for the first few days. Hopefully we ll be able to pull it back

Finally why do we insist on playing a 2 match series? Just when players start to get into it its over. We need to go back to organising 3 test matches, it gives players time to grow into a series

Another Boundary There In The Third Man Region!!

More Than A Hundred Runs Scored In The Third Man Area!!

yh wel most of them are edges so its gud he kept some slips

Ive just seen some of the highlights on youtube, the pitch looks really flat and the outfield lightening quick, all youve got to do is get bat on itt and it ll fly.

Having said that once we knew this we shouldve looked to minimise the runs by setting fielders out.

Jayawardene will do this

Ps how we expect to bowl out teams when our pitches are flat as pancakes, i mean there is literally nothing in it for our bowlers. We have a decent seam attack but they need to be given a chance.

The curator needs shooting as this always has been happening for the last few years. No wonder we end up drawing or losing as we are nearly always up against it from day 1. Teams and individuals rack up ridiculous scores and make us look *****

From what I've heard:

a) the pitch is very flat
b) nearly all the bowlers bowled poorly except maybe Arafat
c) our fielding was poor as usual

Anyone confirm this as I didn't see any of it. Also can someone sum up S Khan's performance; was he very poor, unlucky, how was his length?, pace? etc.
