Calling heroes - anybody there?

Yes but Pakistan will never change their batting order!

Afridi Afridi Afridi Afridi :afridi :afridi

He has to open!
No doubt about it!

Sahibzada Mohammad to open. Or DM will throw mint in your eye.

More often then not chasing big totals requires a couple of batsmen to get big runs but most of all partnerships, sending in players in early to mindless slog rarely works!

He has to MIG. I think he'll want to open today.

Nah, they wont ruin the opening partnership. He'll bat at 3 if we lose an early one.

Well, our spinners were below par, so if Murali and Mendis cause havoc, that should tell us how poor our spinners are...if not then, Murali and Mendis need to be hammered today too to chase this..

I say send in sahib zada....lets find out if all these posters on PP can continue talkin after his performance

Jayasuriya saying, really difficult in the early overs, bowlers bowled very well. I was thinking I have to go after one or 2 bowlers, before the big over.

But Amjid, even you must admit that with such a total set, sending Sahibzada during the powerplays may be a gamble that pays off. Khurram and Butt aren't exactly going to set the track alight.

Take The Risk With Afridi!!!

Manzoor Can Come In The Middle And Play The Spinners.

Afridi Has To Open If Not Then I Feel Butt And Manzoor Wont Be Able To Handle The Runrate

but the thing is that our spinners werent hammered, infact they gave up very few boundaries but it was the ones, twos and threes that killed us....all thanx to the very nice captaani from our very own Chooza

i dont think afridi will open the innings, salman butt or khurram has to play a Dilshan type off innings, saving wickets will be the key i think...

'Umar Gul to Maharoof, FOUR, the perfect end to the innings for SL! Full outside off, a poor length ball, struck cleanly wide of Afridi at long off, who tries fielding it with his foot, and predictably misses': those of you watching the game, was this fielding as bad as it sounds

Combination of Pathetic captaincy and Brilliant Dilshan has put Srilanka in a safe position.

True, but I just think we can't afford a slow 35 off 10 overs and then having to pick up the rate against M&M. Even Akmal is better choice than Manzoor in this situation. There are plenty of gaps in the power plays, just sensible hitting not wild hit and hope stuff. Oh wait this is Pakistan, scratch that.

No, beating the opposition black and blue until Amnesty International come to their aid will be the key.

A slow start indeed is not way to go but sending in a tail-ender to open and more than likely to be 6/1 after 2 balls aint going to help either!

who ever opens with Salman Butt must get the team of to a flyer and then take it from there!! Hope its the Beast :D

Well, I agree not many boundaries were given, but our spinners gave 154 runs in 26 overs, that's pretty much getting hammered...

Sri Lanka should win this by around 50 or 60 runs, will look pretty easy in the end. Misbah or Younis will play a big one today, at one stage Pakistan will look set but one of them will get out and trigger a massive collapse to hand SL the series

this.

My gut feeling is pakistan will fold under pressure as usual 150 runs + defeat coming up!

nat, shubh shubh bolo! :p :D

But yeah agree with most of you, :afridi should open the batting and let Manzoor go 3rd

My gut feeling is that Pakistan will punish Mendis today. And we'll win by 3 wickets.

yeah, exactly
anyways, i won't be surprised if :afridi makes a big one today
it was on the cards :p

But Amjid, Afridi isn't a tailender.

And no, I don't want any of your silly arguments.

Kamran Akmal should open with salman butt. Kamran can make use of the initial PP. He struggeles against spin so he really should open

So what is he then? A batsmen?

His pathetic ODI record suggests otherwise.

How much will the depressed dentist make? :afridi :afridi :afridi
I say, 80 off 0 (zero, yes zero) legal deliveries.

No, the Depressed Bear Dentist will make a hundred. If he fails, I will place myself in a self imposed exile from PakPassion.

Yep, you might be right. But then Pakistan will be wasting a specialist opener and forcing him to come in the middle order. Batsmen only play well in the positions they feel comfortable in or they're most used to. Manzoor is used to opening the batting and he might not play well if used in the middle order.

^ Unless either one (Butt or Akmal) depart very early.

I'm with you.

But what if he doesn't get to bat today? What will you do then :afridi

If he doesnt bat today, we'll win, so I'll give him a ring and have a GOOD laugh

Pakistan might lose as well without losing wickets.
290/3 or something like that

Younus Khan opening!!

Salman Butt cant bat!1
Big blow!

Well, this is the time for Manzoor to prove his time as an opener in 300+ scores...Jamshed is ideal for this kind of situation, but let's see if Manzoor can handle this kind of pressure and keep up the rate...

Oh god. Butt couldnt bat, so they sent in Younis. WHERE IS FREEEEEEEEEEDI? :(

A good start is imperative here. We have to avoid a 'Pakistan special' (ie...20 for 3 after 8 overs) if we are to have any chance.

Butt is in good form.
Younus is due a big knock.
So is Misbah.
Malik is ever reliable.

Will need one of these men to score a 100 and two more to contribute and the game/series/cup will be ours and I'll be dancing on my rooftop singing the Qaumi Tarana.

What the hell happened to Butt?

Was Salman Butt the one who bust his ankle twice fielding on the boundary - definately torn ligaments!

Salman Butt was out of the field for a certain amount of time, and he can only come in after that time has elapsed.

And Ajmal won't bat today because he has been injured...not that I'm saying that he can bat really well, but we have 9 batsman...

That was Ajmal. He walk the field so it seems his ankle was'nt that bad.

What we need is some parathas
