What's new

Pakistan v West Indies | 1st Test (D/N) | Dubai (DSC) | Oct 13-17, 2016 | Day 5

Skipper Holder really needs to play a captain's knock. His contributions with the ball have been minimal but he can make himself counted with the bat.

Does anyone know who is our bowling coach??? @ Junaid, Slog, Talent Spotter, MenIng...

Why are men standing on boundaries with tail left?

Trying to stop Bravo's boundaries. The asking rate has fallen from over 3 to under 3. This match will produce a result, with Pakistan the overwhelming favorites but WI with enough overs to win if they can survive.

Then he should bowl with Azhar Ali. That will tempt bravo to take more risk... But since new ball is due I think its Ok

20 mins till dinner.

Post-Dinner session is 2 hours long. Should it come down to it, would we get all our overs in? Probably can get in 4 more overs till dinner, leaving 38 overs to be bowled in 2 hours.

I want 1 more wicket before dinner then I will be calmer

There is no chance of a draw . . 42 overs and 123 to get . . thats less than 3 an over! If they bat it out, they will win . . Pakistan has to bowl them out

should be an easy win for pakistan now. well done.

edit - i see the wrist slitters are out in force in this thread lol.

Darren Bravo will get out once he reaches his century, Holder can stick around too but the bowlers just need to work their socks off to get these two out, don't expect Bishoo or Gabriel to get much runs

I am amazed this pitch was turning miles for Bishoo suddenly it becomes flat for our spinners.

Great knock, we MUST get him out because he is their best batsmen by far

That was a great cover drive from Bravo, Yasir should hope he keeps playing that because it's extremely risky with the ball turning out of the rough. Huge chance of being bowled past the inside edge.

In that case, this is for you:

now you made me miss Jon Stewart :sanga

Bishop and Fazeer Muhammad are two top class commies idk why they dont get more love.

Need the wicket of Bravo in 30 runs otherwise match will be over!!!!!!

Might be worth Sohail coming closer to the stumps, would have better chance of LBWs/bowleds.

West Indies have pulled off some famous run-chases vs Pakistan in the past - Edgbaston 1975, Georgetown 1988, Antigua 2000. Will today be another one of them ?

WI has a bright chance to win as long as this pair is in the middle. Once a wicket fall, they'll go for draw.

It would be worth while to give the new ball to yasir

Rather give it to Nawaz, finger spinners find it easier to grip the new ball and the ball that skids on can be dangerous if you dart it in.

Bowling leg-breaks with a new ball isn't easy.

I think this series marks the beginning of the decline of our Test team.

We have had a golden run in the last 2 years but looks like it is downhill from now. Will get trashed in Australia next.

so we have to take 4 wickets after supper and they need about 120 runs, still could go either way, draw now looking more likely unless these two stay there but if one of these two gets out WI win is out of the question

The only issue with that is this is a day night test, so we are not depending on the fading natural light here. So how are you not going to bowl the minimum 90 overs needed to be bowled in a day?

That doesn't mean the test team is bad. All of the teams right now would get trashed in Australia.

Why so much negativity bro?

One bad test and everything comes crashing down?

Just break this partnership and you're into the tail - dew factor or not.

38 overs to go. 114 runs to get.

Still 70-30 to Pakistan honestly.

Though as a Pak fan, it can be very nervy.

if we lose or draw this. this will be our most embarrassing result in Tests since we lost to Zimbabwe in 2013.

Windies need to go at 3+ an over to win this. We don't need Bravo's wicket, we need Holder's.

Because there is a cut off time, regardless of how many bowlers are left.

Only 2.5 hours maximum in the last session so probably 34/35 overs max.

didnt they rise up from the defeat by zimbos...With Mickey and Rixon very hard to see a team decline from being at the top...

if less than 100 runs needed Bravo will attack with power hitting, he is well set and this session is very difficult to take wickets especially with the dew factor is tough to bowl too...

With dew coming in and WI needing just around 100 more runs, I say it is 50-50.

However, WI has really done well in the last 3 days and they deserve to win this game.

OK thanks Mr fortune teller. We saw how your fortune telling backfired during England series. By the way do you have any thing positive to say.

he is completely useless here in UAE, dont know why they select him.. He himself is pretty sure he will dropped in the 2nd test and forever...

Pakistan think-tank overestimated the effect of the pink ball under lights. We haven't seen the prodigious swing people are were talking about.

Its an easily forgivable mistake given the fact its our first ever pink ball Test.
