Not sure if there is a thread for this already. I am actually looking forward to this game. Last time we played Afghanistan in Asia cup was a nail biter. Looking forward to some Rashid Khan aggression towards men in green :hasan2

I can only beg and plead that Pakistan doesnt play either malik or hafeez in these games.

Agreed. My lineup for Friday

1) Fakhar
2) Imam
3) Babar
4) Haris/Sarfaraz
5) Sarfaraz/Haris
6) Asif
7) Shadab
8) Imad
9) Amir
10) Hasnain
11) Wahab

Pakistan will absolutely demolish these minnows. Looking forward to a 400 total by our batsmen.

Pakistan will try all of the players who haven't played a single game yet in England, this means Amir, Shadab and Wahab Riaz will all get their chances.

Don't know if more than 11 players can participate. If not, then team should be:

1) Fakhar Zaman
2) Imam Ul Haq
3) Babar Azam
4) Haris Sohail
5) Sarfraz Ahmed(C)(Wk)
6) Mohammad Hafeez
7) Imad Wasim
8) Shadab Khan
9) Mohammad Amir
10) Wahab Riaz
11) Shaheen Afridi

Hasan Ali played all games in the England series and should rest this game, playing the 2nd warm-up with our first choice XI.

Don't know if Asif Ali is mentally ready yet.

Why? Afghanistan have good players and Hafeez and Malik are arguably the best players against spinners from our squad

I’ll have a batting order in reverse to give lower order some necessary time in the middle.
Sarfraz
Imad
Shahdab
Hafeez
Babar
Fakhar
Imam

1) Fakhar
2) Imam
3) Babar
4) Haris
5) Sarfaraz
6) Asif
7) Shoaib
8) Shadab
9) Amir
10) Hasnain
11) Shaheen
Haris Fakhar and Malik to bowl 10 overs.

I wish we had a genuine alrounder. Someone like Razzaq who can bowl and finish with the bat but we can only wish. I don't see anyone in the near future as well.

Shadab should play so should Haris. Malik should sit out. Hafeez should bat at 6 after Haris.

My XI:
1. Imam ul-Haq
2. Fakhar Zaman
3. Babar Azam
4. Mohammad Hafeez
5. Sarfraz Ahmed*+
6. Shoaib Malik
7. Shadab Khan
8. Imad Wasim
9. Mohammad Amir
10. Hasan Ali
11. Shaheen Shah Afridi

Pakistan's first two games are against West Indies and England: not sure how bashing spinners so that both can get in the starting eleven will help us vs. these pace dominant teams.

Should try wahab in this game and lets test him if he is the same old wahab or the new and improved version.

Should be a one sided contest in favour of Pak.
If it is anything else, then that's shameful.

You would think after playing the best one day team in the world in their conditions, we should be match hardened and going into these games with confidence but won't surprise me whatsoever if the pak batters start to bottle it as soon as the competition starts

Fakhar to score a double century if we bat first.

1) Fakhar Zaman
2) Imam ul Haq
3) Babar Azam
4) Haris Sohail
5) Sarfraz Ahmad
6) Muhammad Hafeez
7) Imad Wasim (Assuming Asif Ali won’t play this match)
8) Shadab Khan
9) Wahab Riaz/Muhammad Amir
10) Hasan Ali
11) Shaheen Shah Afridi

I hope Afghanistan and especially Rashid Khan will get to know his place. He is a very unlikeable character.

And for our boys - the beginning of a long journey which will lead to the cup!

Let’s get it home!

That's actually the best team we can put out for the WC even if Asif was available. I would start Amir in stead of spray gun Wahab. For some matches I'll bench Shadab for Asif and try and get 10 overs out of Hafeez and Haris.

I dont think it will be one sided. Our team is low on confidence, and expect them to make silly fielding mistakes. Malik actually helped us cross the line against Afghanistan in Asia cup. I can see him getting selected for this game. They better come out hungry for a win. Its been ages!

Yeah I would play Shadab against non-Asian sides in the WC as they tend to struggle to spinners.

And I would also play Amir ahead of Wahab but we need to see if Wahab has improved...

Asif Ali’s situation is tough but I guess he will be fully committed to cricket after 4-5 matches in the WC.

All in all we did compete well against England however the scoreline doesn’t tell it.

So let’s hope the boys raise their heads up and focus on winning matches again!

yes bangladesh game too is on starsports so i assume it might be on ptv sports...also these games dont have first class status so all 15 can bat n ball

I can only beg and plead that Pakistan doesnt play either malik or hafeez in these games.

I would play these against the lesser yes where spin bowling is the threat.
Hafeez and Malik can dominate spin to ensure we don't slip up

Easy with the arrogance bro.

Will be a close game Afghanistan's spinners in a different league to pak spinners, afg pacers more solid than pak pacers at the moment.

well all 15 can play and 11 bat. So everyone will get to ball or bat i guess.

That's good, now we can check each of our players against same opponent playing together.

11 batsmen:

1) Fakhar Zaman
2) Imam Ul Haq
3) Babar Azam
4) Haris Sohail
5) Sarfraz Ahmed(C)(Wk)
6) Mohammad Hafeez
7) Shoaib Malik
8) Asif Ali
9) Imad Wasim
10) Shadab Khan
11) Mohammad Amir

While in bowling, that is if their batsmen survive the 50 overs:

Mohammad Amir 8 overs
Hasan Ali 6 overs
Shaheen Afridi 6 overs
Wahab Riaz 6 overs
Mohammad Hasnain 6 overs
Shadab Khan 10 overs
Imad Wasim 4 overs
Mohammad Hafeez 4 overs

The purpose of these games is supposed to get players tuned up for the World Cup. How will basing spinners help prepare Malik and Hafeez to face West Indies and England pacemen in the first two games

We need to play the players with little to no match practice

1. Fakhar Zaman
2. Imam-Ul-Haq
3. Haris Sohail (Needs some game-time Babar is in form playing well he's the #1 starter in this team so might as well play Haris)
4. Sarfraz Ahmed
5. Mohammad Hafeez (needs more games under his belt)
6. Shoaib Malik (He too should get this game then be rested for Haris in the next)
7. Shadab Khan
8. Mohammad Amir
9. Wahab Riaz
10. Mohammad Hasnain
11. Hasan Ali

Should let the pacers fight it out in the warmup games in my opinion, because we only have two spin options who we have to play unless conditions are super bad for spin. Then out of the three pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi's spot in my opinion is booked as he is our best pacer right now, and my second and third pacers would be Amir and Hasan, but you never know if Wahab get's a couple fifers in these warm-up games he might start. :yk

Would love that Arrogant Rashid Khan to be smashed into oblivion.Wannabe Kohli.Hate him

Rashid khan looks like ahmed shezad, dont you think guys? Anyway, this game and the bangla game is not going to really help us to prepare for the WI game. I would have prefered to go straight from the england games to the WI game.

I think we should have declined these two wam up games, as we have already played 4 odis and a t20 against england and should be use to the conditions. These warm up games are only useful for teams newly arriving into england. We needed to spend this time on fitnes and fielding drills. And the bowlers practising their bouncers and yorkers.

two back to back losses against afg & Bangladesh might be a good preparation before the main event

he is better than any of the bowlers you guys have selected for WC.
He hardly spins the ball! He requires batsmen to attack him to get wickets, thats why hes so successful in t20s. In odis you have more time, just milk him and punish the odd bad ball. Also, if theres no heatwave to bake these pitches, the the ball wont spin much(especially, as we are using a kookaburra ball).

Hope Pakistan don't struggle like they did in the Asia cup, needs to be more straightforward win.

Im not bothered about a warm up match which doesnt even have odi status. Im waiting for the WC match. Were i fully expect pak to destroy afghans.

Shouldn’t be taking Afghanistan lightly... they can easily trip you up!

If your worried about a minnow side like afghanistan, then i suggest the Pakistan team should pack their bags and come back home. No need to play in a tournament if you cant beat the minnow of the competition.

Dear me ! What arrogance !

It's a sport brother. Anything can happen. No-one expected Pak to lose against Ireland in 2007 but they did.

Just sit back and enjoy this.

There is a difference between being worried and being focused/not complacent.

I have noticed Some Pakistani fans make tall claims and act as if a win is guaranteed against any weaker team. It’s the biggest folly of all. Wo bhi khelney aye hein! Every World Cup has a few upsets. It would be a shame if Pakistan is in the receiving end of one. As fans, we should be positive but at the same time not condescending or insulting to weaker opposition. Just saying...

This will be good but tough game for Pakistan. They should win this comfortably, since it is being played in England but will be a good game to test yourself out.

You've got me wrong! Pakistan should be professional and be thoroughly prepared for each game they play. Research the danger men (e.g. rashid khan, nabi, shazad for afghan game). Treat it like an exam which you are prepared for and will ace. No fear! its this fear of losing that that has led to a 6 - 0 losing streak against india when at the very least the score should be 3 - 3.
Be confident in your skills and not over or under confident. And most importantly, remember afghanistan is a teeny weeny little minnow of a cricket nation!

Your comment and some others came off extremely arrogant and if you read through the posts, I guess I am not the only one who got you “wrong”..

We have a history of makin fools out of ourselves with such comments so I try to tell all my countrymen to be mature and not big mouthed. We used to talk about Bangladesh the same way and look at our recent record against them lately. Support your team to the hilt but don’t be demeaning to any opposition. I am sure you mean the same but worded it differently.

I was talking actual WC games

Why so much arrogance here in pak fans.
The same playing 11 nearly lost the match to afghans not too long ago

The guys joining the squad need some gametime, while Hafeez has been benched for a long time, and needs some match practice. Don't want Malik to play. Haris needs to be brought back, he only really got two games in the ODI series.

1.) Imam
2.) Fakhar
3.) Babar
4.) Haris
5.) Sarfraz+*
6.) Hafeez
7.) Imad (assuming Asif is not available)
8.) Shadab
9.) Amir
10.) Wahab
11.) Shaheen

Your reasoning is good i.e. to give the new guys some practice, but only 2 batsmen in your line up can play top quality spin - hafeez and sarfaraz. Need to replace haris with malik. Use this formula
SENA teams pick haris
ASIAN teams pick malik.

Although all 15 can play, I think Pakistan should treat these warmup games as proper matches and play only 11 players. The team that should play against Afghanistan should be:

Fakhar
Imam
Haris
Hafeez
Sarfaraz
Malik
Imad
Shadab
Amir
Wahab
Hasnain
----------------
Babar
Asif
Hasan
Shaheen

For the final warmup against Bangladesh, we should play our first-choice XI.

Amir, Wahab and Hasnain should play one of the two warm up games at least.

Score predictions:

If pak bats first-
Pak 350 for 6
Afghans 160 all out

If pak bats second-
Afghans 220 all out
Pak 221 for 3 in 35 overs

I guess there might be some rain during the match. So I doubt that we would get total 100 overs in.

I don't like Pakistan Warm Ups.

We might thrash Afghanistan and somehow walk over Bangladesh and be met with a West Indies side who can turn the tables any time.

Easy warmups are not my cup of tea.

im really excited to see how your batsman will milk him & score runs off his bowling.

Pakistan played against England in English conditions, they are the most prepared team at this time. West Indies will be a walk in the park for them.

This is the world cup in england. It is not the ipl were i hear rashid is a superstar. Ipl is of a high standard , though i dont actually watch it, but its played on spin friendly pitches. Friday, they wont be any spin in the pitch or from the kookaburra ball and pakistan will rip this fake ahmed shezad lookalike to shreds.safaraz, malik and hafeez are masters of playing spin bowling, but even hasan ali, wahab and amir will give this guy a spanking with their bats.

most prepared to loose most of their games in first round itself? yeah no doubt on that

its almost funny that you are thinking that English pitches in summer wont help the spinners when almost every team is taking 2-3 quality spinners in their side? are they stupid or you are over confident & on top of that its a batting track where fast bowlers are going for 80 runs almost every single game. Spinners are the key this worldcup. dnt worry you will realize this mid tournament. maybe even in a couple of days after the practice game. Rashid Khan took wickets in BBL too & in IPL on batting friendly pitches he takes wickets of quality players. Confidence in your team is good but putting down a player whos really shining is almost absurd lol

Mate im from england, no need to tell me how these pitches are going to play in an english summer. How many english domestic teams employ spinners, not many. If its a wet summer your spinners will be useless. If however its a hot summer as most predict, there still will be very little spin . You know why because unlike the ct17 which was played on only 3 grounds, this wc will be played on several grounds. What does that mean? You will be playing on fresh pitches virtually every game, which reduces the amount of spin. Also, the kookaburra ball's seam is not vey pronounced, as it is a machine made ball as opposed to a handmade ball and wears down very quickly.
Even if i am wrong and the pitches do spin, we dont play you in the tourney till near the end of the group stage, by which time your lot will already have been eliminated from the tournament because of your low points tally. You players will be so depressed and disillusioned that it will only be humane for pakistan to come and read your lot their last rites!
RIP! (in undertakers voice)
