Ok so if we win in say 48 overs, do we still have a chance?

We have a very academic kind of chance even if we had done it in 42. It doesnt matter that much because Pakistan will need to beat Bangladesh pretty badly anyway. Then there are variables that Pakistan cannot control (how badly Sri Lanka beat India if they indeed do so). That is why I feel they have done a wise thing by not obsessing too much over finishing early. (What's an over or two between friends anyway?)

Every match against India is a final and I am relieved they will (Inshaallah) win today. Amongst all this talk about "New India" and a devastated Pakistan, I will be happy if they keep turning the tables on India as they are Mashaallah.

Ive crunched the numbers a little bit, and if the run rate was carried forward from round 1 then pakistan have no chance of reaching the final.

No Tendulkar, Ganguly, Dravid, H Singh, Zaheer and Sreesanth.

I do not think there are any injuries. They were just not selected. Except for Bhajji who is out for obvious reasons.

Im disappointed...

Sure chances of reaching the final are <1%, but why not hit those sixes??

Though it nearly did work for us again. It was S Malik's retiring hurt, MoYo's untimely run-out and and Afridi who couldn't hit water if he fell out off a boat that we couldn't score in excess of 330.

Anyone can miss out on hitting the water if......the boat is on land;)

Sachin, Zaheer and Sree are inujured

Sohail saying the only thing you can now do is replace Shoiab Malik with Afridi and you will have depth in batting. Makes sense though it will mean that Malik will need to bowl his full allocation of 10 overs.

You are right.
But why take that risk? Why have so few runs on the board that a couple of wickets can finish you off any time? Why not have a healthy score-rate from start so that a mini-collapse can be handled.

And why miss out on powerplays?

its definitely a new india with the senior most player being UV and seniormost bowler being Pathan. Sigh, they will learn with experience i guess

Hit a few sixes now, we might not make it to the finals but we can enjoy a victory against india! :D

Well they didn't do today so you could say that they are not being one-dimensional. Had we scored the runs last time and not have our main bowler injured it might have been a different story.

Yes. I figured this out quite some time ago.
However, humiliating India today was great to see. Especially after the treatment we got the other day!

Shoaib Malik must be squirming in his seat in the pavilion.

He'll try and get Misbah out of the team now!:D

Just kidding guys, no need for a full out war!

Finally it'll be in the 46th over!

AND THATS IT! PAKISTAN WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!

What would have been is useless in cricket. What is there and what happened is important. We lost our main bowler - get over it. In the words of Shahid Afridi: "Jo larke yahaan hain, wohi best hain". Thats the way to think!

Wazeeri raised our hopes earlier by saying if we finish this match by the 43rd over, and beat bangladesh by 30+ runs we could make the finals.

Tendulkar, Ganguly had a fantastic year and a half with the bat. Zaheer is India's best odi pace bowler, Harbhajan is India's best odi spinner and all of them are experienced. India have been experimenting for the last year as well.

Great victory what a run chase that was!!!!!!!!!!!! all credit to Younis and Misbah !!!

NACHO NACHO!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can do it in 45.3 overs then you can also do it in 44 overs. Just a little more hitting was needed.

true gritttttt.. com onnnnnnnn.faboulous effort by our batsman and our bowlers near the end. probably the best ever run chase by pakistan ever.. only lost 2 wickets chasing 300 plus.. wow

Well you could stop playing deadweights like Afridi for once. I don't care. My boys gave India a hell of a beating after having a weakened side and being completely in the pits. I am a very happy man!

With all due respects, it is not quite correct. And ignoring the result of Ind Sri Lanka match in calculations is ludicrous!

I am very happy too. And very proud. :) Alhamdulillah!

About Aridi though, I feel he deserves a place. I would get rid of Yousaf before Afridi. Afridi is very useful.

He did also mention that if srilanka beat india marginally. But from what i can see even if we beat bang by 100 runs, and srilanka beat india by 100 runs we won't make the finals.

I'm assuming the run rate was carried forward from the first round.
