powerplays are the best time to get runs aint they? since less fielders are on the boundaries.. 2 is max i think.. wasting a good opportunity

Malik flicks that in the air over square leg for a single, good shot, well timed but found the fielder

You guys have short term memory loss.

i like the strategy of keeping wickets in hand but but this is just too slow only problem is we lose a wicket now then it becomes a horrible start...atleast they shud be going around 3.5 to 4 an over

Flayed through point for 4 by Butt, very good shot, well executed cut shot

love to read the comments of arm chair fans on why the game strategy is totally worng, and that too within the first 8 overs of the game!!!

Just remember what happened in the last match..........

Did you think that this strategy will work for every match? they atleast keep runrate 4-5 runs per over!

since Malik got 1 run. he is gonig to open up?

Malik will probably try and play the anchor roll.. stay in and let Butty do the shots.. Buttt Buttty might also play sensible

imagine if after 50 overs we are 150 for 0... wouldnt that be an accomplishment! :(

I have a feeling Malik is going to score big today (Inshallah)
(Mera dil kehta hai^o^)

Strategy? Dude do you think they will score 300+ every time if they have wickets in hand? Younis or Yousuf could easily get out in succession and we'd be struggling to get 220.

It is not a strategy, they are hitting the ball straight to the fieldsmen.

Poor stuff from the openers on such a flat track

hahaha so true.
jazbaat get the better of us sometimes!

I used to prefer the top order when the came in blazing away, usually ending up 65-3 after 12 overs, but at least it was entertaining and there was some hope Inzi/MoYo would rescue us.

This track is flat as hell.

They didnt even use the powerplays, damn....

I like the urgency from Malik.

Malik shuffles to the offside, tries to smash that bowl on the onside for a boundary, but misses out. The ball goes to RP Singh, the bowler who tries to run Malik out, who was forced to dive back into the crease.

26-0 after 10 overs

Good stuff from the openers, seeing off the new-ball without the loss of a wicket. And now they are looking to attack.

I agree, we have to make use of every over possible to maximise our chances. We have to be careful of not playing too slowly and then expecting miracles from our lower order to give us a defendable total.

And then making Afridi the scapegoat yet again.

THe 'industry standar' if you are looking to keep wkts in hand is to go for a min. 4 rpo

This is barely above 2rpo.

Thats the worry I think

dont worry boys we got 50 overs to play with. We will score big, get india chasing, and panicking

LOSE 2 games in a row to pakistan.. LOTSSS of pressure will be on them chasing - big collapse, Pak will have them out in 35 overs maximum ;-)

Malik has had quite a few deliveries on the middle/leg stump, but many times the flick has found the man at square leg/mid wicket. Butt too has found the fielders on a few occasions after playing a few nice drives.

It is easier for set batsmen to up the rate, and I think they are trying to during the next set of power plays.

crawling @ 3 runs an over on a flat track against bowlers suffering in the heat. They really nd to pick it up here

That's exactly what I said a while ago. Well, I said 3.7 we can't even manage 2.5!

Guys, the biggest and obvious positive is that we haven't lost a wicket. I understand that the wicket is flat, but if we lose a wicket now, it could be worse for us and make us go further in our shell.

I wish our openers can show the same constraint in Test cricket.

Slashed through point for 2 runs by Malik, good shot.

first 10 overs build a foundation, lose no wickets, soften the ball
10-20 build a good score, singles flowing, rotate strike
20-40 middle order play with straight bat, up the RunRate
40-50 slog fest
