Like many of you suggested to play session by session, is it Pakistan strategy to score 100+ in morning extended session and keep wickets intact (already scored 63 runs in 20 overs) and still have like 20+ overs to go in this session.

If they could score 50-60 more to take total to 230 by lunch; then will need about 220 in two more sessions, where they could try to score 80-90 in post lunch session and thus will need 120-130 in last session.
The scoring rate has dropped considerably since Harris came on.

Looks set up for an exciting day ...

Just a few comments...if we were playing for a draw we wouldn't declare only 4 wickets down...

Could be nail biting stuff...pakistan might even win this....or at least already have done enough for a draw ....

Though it will be nice if these two scores hundreds each but in my view they already did their job, now next four (MoYo, Inzi, Misbah and Malik) need to do their part.

Finally good to see sensible batting....why couldnt we have done this earlier in the series?

if only pakistan did this on a regular basis....we would be another team

we should play sensibly for now

and then play the last 50 overs like an ODI

just a thought

Last 11 overs - progress;
311 runs needed in 80 overs at 3.89 R/O
309 runs needed in 79 overs at 3.91 R/O
306 runs needed in 78 overs at 3.92 R/O
304 runs needed in 77 overs at 3.95 R/O
303 runs needed in 76 overs at 3.99 R/O
295 runs needed in 75 overs at 3.93 R/O
295 runs needed in 74 overs at 3.99 R/O
294 runs needed in 73 overs at 4.03 R/O
291 runs needed in 72 overs at 4.04 R/O
290 runs needed in 71 overs at 4.08 R/O
288 runs needed in 70 overs at 4.11 R/O

Like you dude; Good sensible cricket fan.

What are SA's tactics here by bowling Kallis and Harris? Surely Ntini or Nel should be on from one end?

Younis is inching towards his second hundred of the series, and Akmal is catching up to his score.

oh! what a match, i cant believe im saying this, but Pak may win this if they dont collapse! run rate required is abit though, 4.2 RRR

kamran akmal back in form?

According to Waqar, ball is reverse swinging and they should be using pace of Styen, but I guess some aggressive batting at the start of the day, put SA on the back foot, and using defensive tactics now.

although I agree that we should play normally but saying last 50 overs like an ODI isn't going to be easy. First the pitch is different, then there's reverse swing around , Saffies are allowed to bowl negatively, and the field placings will make it hard to get boundaries. Also there will be massive pressure.

It's still on though. They just need to apply themselves. Get to lunch without a wicket and it is definitely on!

If Pakistan really want to win then they should not let the run rate go beyond 5 runs an over.

:(

THIS is where the real test comes. How do we respond to the loss of a wicket.

No, Hash.....you can't play 50 over of a test match like ODI....that is too many overs!!

We are doing fine for now. After Younis/Kamran 100s, they should speed up a little bit...and I think, they will!

Typical SA - safety first. This is what puts Aus as a cut above the rest.

Batted well no doubt, now just needs to work on his keeping.

Come on Yousuf and Inzy. Here's the big moment.

Pakistan should promote Kaneria up the order and let him do some reckless hitting against spinner.

220-2 would be a good score at lunch. Yousuf and Younis like batting together.

MoYo the next batsmen in. Hopefully him and Younis can go on and have a decent partnership.

176/2

in a strange way i'm happy about pakistan fighting here....before it looked like if S.A won it would be an empty experience...too easy....now if they win or draw this game it will really be exciting for them , because they had to fight for it .

Is it Eid in Pakistan today - I assume it is?

nope, it's roze NO.29 in Pakistan
as per report, chances are, they ll complete 30 roza this time and Eid will be on Sunday

this is the real test for pak, how do they respond to a wicket lost? anyways, we all know that yousuf and younis love batting with each other. i think if pak can get to 300/3, in the next 30 overs, pak may win it.

70 runs in 26 fo rthe loss of 1 wicket, hopefully pakistan don't lose another wicket till lunch otherwise Malik & co will drop the 'try to win' plan out the window!

Superstitious people believe Eid on friday is not good for the ruler of the country and since Musharaf already waiting for SC ruling so he wouldnt want to risk Eid on friday.

commentaro mentioned that luch will have about 40-45 overs, how many runs do you guys think pakistan need to score during luch to have a chance of winning? Currently 70 runs in 26 overs

183/2

274 runs to win.

These guys need like a 100 run partnership, then hopefully Inzi Mibah and Malik should be able to take it from their.

thought that was the saudis only? Anyway it can't be today because Islamic months have to be 29/30 and in Pak they've only had 28.

Which could also mean that they started fasting one day late. Since most of NWFP started one or two days earlier than Pakistan.

run rate getting high....they are finding it hard to get harris away .

I don't think that Pakistan can really go for a win here unless someone comes off with an innings of a lifetime.

it's roza NO.29 in Pak today so no one can have Eid today in Pak, it's not Musharaf fault

Is it defensive field or defensive batting or both that boundries dried up.

spinner bowling outside leg and turning in. oe hs is bowling on mniddle & leg stump.

one more wicket before the new ball and south africa can still run through pakistan here .

doesn't this Harris guy get bored to bowling the same delivery 200 times?

You have a point there.
