He needs investment and guidance. We don't have much raw talent these days and the talent that does appear needs to be nurtured and guidedShowed some guile at the end today with those slower bouncers. However he looks as malnourished as he is quick.
Needs putting on a special diet to fill out.
He is not a new ball bowler but can be a good first change bowler as he get something from any type of pitch. Should work on releasing the delivery in order to hit the seam consistently. Pace is there and he is harder to get hit runs by the batter without batsmen losing their wickets. Finally they brought him into the XI.
He has everything a pacer should have and will get better as he refines his bowling.
He needs to move the ball, bowling gun barrel straight at 140-145k will not trouble international batters, in fact even 150k straight delivery is nothing for modern day batters.Looks like he’s grown taller
Boy is a special talent
How tall is he?Seems to have a mix style between Ambrose and Mervin Dillon , good height and nice bounce and can definitely breach 140k consistently, I wonder if Vidler clocked 145k as per the commentator then Ali seems to be even more quicker than him easily.
How tall is he now? Has his frame filled out at all since he came onto the scene?Looks like he’s grown taller
Boy is a special talent
Around 6ft 6’1 I guess , definitely had gone taller since U19 worldcup. How tall is he?
These are not very helpful conditionsHe needs to move the ball, bowling gun barrel straight at 140-145k will not trouble international batters, in fact even 150k straight delivery is nothing for modern day batters.
That's why I replied to one comment about him becoming a World class bowler with a proviso- we haven't seen a close up of his seam. Once we get that we can start to dreamHe needs to move the ball, bowling gun barrel straight at 140-145k will not trouble international batters, in fact even 150k straight delivery is nothing for modern day batters.
you can see his seam on his u19 world cup highlights. Lots of revs, a bit of a wobble seam. That's why I replied to one comment about him becoming a World class bowler with a proviso- we haven't seen a close up of his seam. Once we get that we can start to dream
And who will do the planning and thinking. Our talent pool is at a low( at least the ones we see) and the ones that do appear need a plan. Most will stay fall by the way side but even if a couple come through we will have a decent teamVery gifted . May not be the most durable so workload has to be managed carefully.
Yeah that's an issue. And who will do the planning and thinking. Our talent pool is at a low( at least the ones we see) and the ones that do appear need a plan. Most will stay fall by the way side but even if a couple come through we will have a decent team
It will be start.Yeah that's an issue.
But having just a couple of players won't be enough going forward. Even teams like BD have 2-3 decent players coming through.
Superb. Hopefully Shaheen can take him under his wing as Shaheen is similarly tall and was also lanky when he came on to the scene.Around 6ft 6’1 I guess , definitely had gone taller since U19 worldcup.
My bad. You said "6ft 6’1 I guess" so I thought you meant 6 ft 6Bro he is 6ft tall or may be 6ft 1 , Shaheen is 6ft6 inch.
Do you know how old he is ?He needs to move the ball, bowling gun barrel straight at 140-145k will not trouble international batters, in fact even 150k straight delivery is nothing for modern day batters.
Good god please keep Shaheen far far away from him.Superb. Hopefully Shaheen can take him under his wing as Shaheen is similarly tall and was also lanky when he came on to the scene.
Exactly. He is playing u19 atm and should be kept there. Then he needs a good outing in domestic games to polish his skills. No need to rush him into the team. Bowling in not the problem for us atm.The last thing we need to do is rush him into the team. Get this guy setup with his own physio and strength coach. Teach him about nutrition, and diet. Have him play first class cricket so he can work on his variation and control. In 2 years he’ll be ready to test the international waters.
Who can he link up with to help him? I don’t trust the PCB, they’ll use him and discard him. I’d love for Wasim Akram to help him out somehow. So much to like about this Boy.
He could be the Mohammad Zahid type bowler with so many similarities between the two.
What sets him apart:
1. Fluent Run Up. Provides him great momentum.
2. Fast twitch muscles.
3. Quick Arm Action.
He looks malnourished to be honest. Even with this physique he is surely bowling in excess of 140 kph.
He must avoid back stress fractures somehow.
He needs to put on muscle mass. He is under weight as a potential Right Arm Fast bowler for Pakistan.
Genuine 18-19 years old. He could still learn the art of maintaining upright seam and develop swing/seam. Note pacy bowler with poor seam presentation would be useless.
PCB should not ruin him like Muhammad Zahid & lately Ihsanullah.
We seriously lack genuine talented players and need to preserve such potential stars right from the start as our system lacks ability to nurture and polish players rather than improving mostly their growth stops prematurely.
Hats off to Ramiz Raja for that Under 16 tournament.
A sensible take from a Pakistani fanI really want this guy to come into the team through proper channels and grooming. Don't want to hype him to the moon and rushed into the team where he might not look good because he is just a kid atm.
That's the problem. We all know the the chances are rare that he will not get ruined. There is not even a single good pacer for Pakistan in the last 10 years didn't get injured. Or if got injured then recovered perfectly.Who can he link up with to help him? I don’t trust the PCB, they’ll use him and discard him. I’d love for Wasim Akram to help him out somehow.
Baby WalshAli Raza (4 wickets) garnered the Mentor's Choice Award for Most Promising Emerging Player in Champions One-Day Cup 2024
Good prospect for future but definitely not 16 at least 20 yearsAli Raza (4 wickets) garnered the Mentor's Choice Award for Most Promising Emerging Player in Champions One-Day Cup 2024
More like Marvin Dillon for me but a good prospectBaby Walsh
Do these kids not look after their diet. He looks like he is suffering from malnutrition.Ali Raza (4 wickets) garnered the Mentor's Choice Award for Most Promising Emerging Player in Champions One-Day Cup 2024
His real age is 19 right. This kid currently looks malnourished and desperately needs a proper diet/gym plan and direction by a professional coach.
He can be perhaps be a prospect like Mayank Yadav but needs a good 2-3 years of proper coaching and work on his fitness and bowling.
Doubt that he's actually 16 but could be 19 atleast so by 23 he can be a real prospect if he actually works hard and puts in the hardyards that are required but I have my doubts.
Looks genuinely young, what are you on about?Good prospect for future but definitely not 16 at least 20 years
I have been 16 before. 19-20 is a young age too. Just that he is at least 3 year older to his official ageLooks genuinely young, what are you on about?
He is defo not 19 very young he looks not 16 but somewhere in middleLooks genuinely young, what are you on about?
On this thread - there’s a lot of comparison to Walsh. Why?His pace will increase with time but he needs to learn how to utilize seam properly to be effective at international level , he does get random seam movement every now and then his line and length are very consistent alongside decent pace and bounce as well , just only need to learn the seam utilization and he can be as good as Walsh on the later half of his career when he lost his pace.
He’s got classical high arm West Indian bowling action hence comparison to Walsh even though Walsh himself doesn’t have that classical action but it was different , Ali Raza action is more like Dillion , holder and Ambrose rather than Walsh. On this thread - there’s a lot of comparison to Walsh. I don’t see any similarities.
I think he’s got a good action but nothing has struck to me that it’s a West Indian type of action. And really I don’t even know what the typical West Indian action is. They were all individually very different (and of course, very good). He’s got classical high arm West Indian bowling action hence comparison to Walsh even though Walsh himself doesn’t have that classical action but it was different , Ali Raza action is more like Dillion , holder and Ambrose rather than Walsh.
He looks 17He is defo not 19 very young he looks noy 16 but somewhere in middle
He looks young but with literally 99% of our players faking their ages, it's not a surprise that no one believes him.He looks 17
I don't know what his seam looks like because of the 1980s cameras. I think if the seam is good then we can start to dream a little. Until then the PCB need to get the lad on a nutrition diet because he looks like he needs it.His pace will increase with time but he needs to learn how to utilize seam properly to be effective at international level , he does get random seam movement every now and then his line and length are very consistent alongside decent pace and bounce as well , just only need to learn the seam utilization and he can be as good as Walsh on the later half of his career when he lost his pace.

3+ years will give him time to become smarter with his bowling, develop those missing skills, and get stronger. If they fast-track him, his career will get destroyed because he's a more traditional prospect than a generational one. He needs to be molded and worked on otherwise he will either get hurt or lose confidence at the highest level.
His time will be wasted if he just tours with the international squad and doesn’t feature. He should be FC cricket as much as he can. You raise a good point, I’d love for a county to bring him over and they work with him for a couple of seasons. This way he’s taken care of, he can grow as an individual plus he’s in the right environment.3+ years in a dysfunctional domestic scene will break him and will end up looking for money in t20 leagues and get distracted.
Unless they want to send him to country cricket for 3 years?
It's better if they see potential they bring him into the international squad and work with him closely in NCA.

still bowling with good paceLad is very skinny and malnourished. Needs to be provided with a strength conditioning coach and a dietician, nutritionist
Mohammad amir was a bowler that we can safely say was "once in a decade". Ali Raza is a hard worker. He can definitely be better than most of the current lot bowlers in the system but he needs proper grooming and no t20 and league exposure in the out-of-country games. He is a good prospect but not Naseem Shah or M.Amir type wonder kid.
It's been more than 2 decade and we haven't got a bowler of his caliber.Mohammad amir was a bowler that we can safely say was "once in a decade". Ali Raza is a hard worker. He should stick to domestic and PSL.
