[PICTURES/VIDEOS] KL Rahul - Performance Watch

I didn't know KL had a SR of 140 - higher than both Kohli and Rohit in T20s.

If he has that SR while being selfish, I look forward to seeing his game when he plays with #intent

You are looking at his current strike rate. He was 149 at one point. He declined badly.

If he can change his selfish, statpadding tuk tuk approach, he could become a great player with the talent he possesses.
I don't think he will ever change. Langer must have told him in stern words at ipl .He had a war with his franchise owner after srh dismantled them in 8 overs.Gambhir being the coach of lsg has not picked kl for 22 t20 wc.He is selfish to the core, that's why he is a good batsmen in the test especially in sena where one end has to be tight but not any where else

Even in tests he plays just 1 customary good innings in the series and that's it.

Dravid kept on moving kl but made sure he sticks with team.issue is no one else is threatening enough ti dislodge him at 5 in sena.Jurel can be good in sc.I am not sure about sarfaraz with pace and bounce

This guy is a total mental midget. Useless piece of. Should never play for ind again nor even ipl. No wonder sanjiv goenka had a blowout with this strike rate is overrated, play maiden in 1st over in a t20 selfish statpadding mental midget..

KL Rahul's had a good run with the gloves in ODIs - but will he give them up and play as a pure batter with Rishabh Pant back?

KL Rahul has been struggling against Akila Dhanajaya in ODIs

KL Rahul vs Akila Dhananjaya

3 inns, 6 runs, 11 balls, 3 dismissals, 2.0 avg, 55 SR

Rahul bhai holding it down. He’s got ice in his veins. He’s him.

Rishab pant or Ishaan should get a chance in ODI cricket.. KL Rahul's time is over now!

Kishan's international career is pretty much done. He doesn't have the attitude for international cricket.

He will spent the rest of his career making millions in the IPL and playing the odd domestic tournament.

Mental midget choker klrahul again. Why am I not surprised ? Not sure what the Ind team see in him honestly. Loser tuk tuk attitude everywhere- ODI, IPL , and now. No wonder Sanjiv Goenka had a meltdown and kicked this midget out from his team.

Worst dud cannon pure fodder trash mental midget weak absolute rubbish choking player of all time.

Drop him from all formats with immediate effect.

We don't need fodders. He is the king fodder. Worst player I have ever come across when it comes to handling pressure.

Cricket (international) is not for him.

Kl Rahul once against choked as usual. His team was in control but he came and played the worst shot that was ever needed in that scenario and potentially helped SL to get back in the game. Time to move forward and play pant ahead of him if no one else is there. I think Dhruc Jurel is another guy who can be looked upon.

KL Rahul's Ducks In ODIs:
(Match Results)

- 0(2) vs ENG (Lost)
- 0(9) vs ENG (Lost)
- 0(4) vs SL (Lost)

We'll never learn. We keep playing these good for nothing players and hope result will be different.

He didn't choke, he is simply not good enough, for more than 4-5 years at least. Just that wise men of BCCI can't see that.

The way Rahul robbed us in November 2023, should have been ample indication that this guy will give us more pain if not booted out of Indian cricket permanently but no, he still a confirmed starter in ODIs at least.

He is not good enough. He simply can't handle pressure

I rather play Pant or Dhruv Jurel in the team

Kohli, Rahul, Rohit, Jadeja, Ashwin, Shami should all have retired from ODI’s after 2023 WC.

None of these guys are going to do anything for us in 2027 WC. They are just ruining our chances of winning 2027 WC by slowing the grooming process of youngsters.

Am worried about first three.bottom three dont have any pr clout to survive till next wc especiallyin odi format.Rohit ,Kohli have to leave on their terms hopefully after ct25.Kl have to be thrown out just like t20s

CT25 should have been the first taste youngsters got to experience big tournaments.
CT is useless kind of event and it would have been a perfect opportunity for youngsters to play a ODI tournament and get much needed confidence in such tournaments.

World Cup is the only tournament which matters in ODI. CT would have been the perfect prep for it.

But alas, as always we don’t think long term and only care about short term and sponsors money.

40 year old Kohli/Rohit in 2027 will be a disaster.

Biggest con man of Indian cricket, singlehandedly destroyed our worldcup chances. If this rubbish is selected in T20 world cup I am sure we would have eliminated early .
After removing this 1 garbage we managed to win World Cup.

Kohli much better than so many youngsters in fitness. He will definitely play 2027 wc

I agree with u.indian selection policy is about milking money. These cricketer's will push agenda like ct is swansong for them and bcci is happy to oblige it.

klrahul is such a mental midget, dont know he gets selected. Useless in IPL, international everywhere. He should be dropped forever permanently

In cricket Fitness doesn’t just mean a good body and stamina. Your reflexes, mental fitness, hand eye coordination are equally important.

Like Sir Charles says, sports is not for old people, it’s for young guys.

I agree with u.indian selection policy is about milking money. These cricketer's will push agenda like ct is swansong for them and bcci is happy to oblige it.

It’s about money, sponsors have hundreds of not thousands of crores riding on these players, if they get dropped from national side it will affect them.

BCCI have to oblige the sponsors as well instead of looking to win world cups. Same thing happened when Dhoni played for 6 years more than his expiry and cost us world cups.

Most ODI runs at No.5 or below for India Since 2020:

1283 - KL Rahul (31 Innings)
807 - Hardik Pandya (22 Innings)
690 - Suryakumar Yadav (28 Innings)
568 - Ravindra Jadeja (26 Innings)
384 - Axar Patel (17 Innings)

Akash Chopra, while speaking on his YouTube channel:

"No.4 has become a revolving door as we had a different No.4 in every game. Why do you need to push someone like KL Rahul down to No.6-7? Why don't you fight from the front? India played KL Rahul for two games and then dropped him. It is interesting to think whether he is in their plans because from 2023 no one in the middle order has scored as many runs as him.”

KL Rahul doesn't have a promising record against spinners in the recent past

vD7jnvC.png

Lord knows how long we'll have the bear this Atlantic ocean sized liability.
What led to the decline in his skills? I recall him being a fiercely aggressive T20 player, famously scoring a century against West Indies in that iconic T20I match between India and West Indies.

KL Rahul during an interview on a Podcast:

"I used to be good with [handling] trolling. I did not care, but I feel I was much younger back then. And then, a couple of years back, I was exposed to a lot of trolling. If I sat, I got trolled, if I stood, I got trolled."

I am done with the trolling now. For the last one and a half years, I have gotten off Instagram completely. I still go, post and do my things and get out of that place as quickly as possible."

LSG Likely To Retain KL Rahul Ahead Of IPL 2025 Mega Auction – Report

Indian Premier League franchise Lucknow Super Giants is likely to retain captain KL Rahul ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. According to a report in Cricbuzz on Monday (August 26), Rahul, who joined the Lucknow-based franchise for Rs 17 crore ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, met LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka on Monday in the franchise’s Kolkata office.

The one-hour-long meeting between the two was reportedly centred around the team composition for the new season of the cash-rich league and the potential retention of Rahul. While there is no guarantee that LSG will retain Rahul, the fact that he was called on by the owner could be a pointer to it.

LSG will learn after burning few more bundles that every true cricket lover already knows- Rahul is ultimate mental midget and bottler.

lol. KL Rahul should do something which is not worth trolling. For example, do something that Pandya did in the T20 WC and won people over with his performances.

India’s right-handed batter KL Rahul made shocking revelations regarding his retirement plans, months after celebrating his 32nd birthday, during a podcast with an Indian YouTuber he said:

“There is no insecurity, but there is a feeling that all this ends, and for me it ends very quickly. If you are fit enough, you can play till 40. That is the maximum someone has played. Yes, there is MS Dhoni, who is 43 and is still playing. You can play the IPL and all of that, but not at the international level for too long,”

“For me, the anxiety was when I hit 30. I could see the end of the tunnel. Till I was 29, I could not see that. Some weird thing happened on my 30th birthday. I could see I have 10 more years to play cricket, and that gave me anxiety, and that is the first time I felt like ‘This comes to an end at some point.’ All I have done all my life is ‘Cricket, Cricket, Cricket,’ without imagining this comes to an end. Now I can see it. It is not too far away,”

“There is a fear and realisation that the shelf life is really small for an athlete, and you need to make the most of it within whatever time you have,”

KL Rahul's spot in the Indian Test team is under fire after his poor show on Day 1 against Bangladesh in Chennai. He got out for just 16 runs off 52 balls, which raises big questions.

Rahul's batting was too defensive. He didn't score quickly enough and struggled to keep the scoreboard ticking during his partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who played really well.

Getting caught at short-leg by Zakir Hasan off Mehidy Hasan Miraz's spin was the final nail in the coffin. Rahul looked lost against good bowling.

India needed someone to take charge and steady the ship, but Rahul failed. It's time to ask: is he good enough for the team?

Jadeja, who plays as an allrounder, has a better batting average than him. Worst specialist batter to play 50+ tests for us.

I don't understand how a player like KL Rahul keeps finding a way back into the test side in a country with as much batting talent as India

KL averages 34 after 50 tests. He should be dropped for good in all formats and is a known mental midget who only scores easy runs.

"Average Of 34": Sanjay Manjrekar Highlights Only Issue Plaguing KL Rahul's Career'

One of the finest batters in Indian cricket, at least from the technical standpoint', KL Rahul has hadn't a smooth journey at the top level over the last few years. Already out of Team India's T20 scheme, Rahul failed to make his presence count as he earned the spot in the playing XI for the first Test against Bangladesh. In the first innings, Rahul could only hit 16 runs off 52 balls, but he never looked comfortable in the middle. Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar feels the issue with Rahul is entirely temperamental.

This has been the KL Rahul story. It's amazing that he plays a brilliant innings at the Test level and the next two three innings it seems like he has got a pair in the last Test. Even when you saw him bat today, it almost seemed like an innings without purpose. That can happen, it happened to me in the second half of my career where everything was internal," Manjrekar said on ESPNCricinfo.

Manjrekar cited his own example, as he tried to explain the phase Rahul is going through at the moment.

"I went in to bat just thinking about my technique and am I going to play the ball well, imagining a certain kind of delivery coming my way. And I've got to play instead of going to your instinct as a batter which I think all the other Indian batters practice that is about getting runs. Even if you're defending looking for ones and twos," he added.

Despite being a veteran of 50 Test matches, which have seen Rahul produce some fine hundreds, the batter averages just 34, a big concern for Manjrekar.

"That is more a temperamental problem for KL Rahul that has plagued him for 50 Test matches because the number that he has. He's got some brilliant hundreds but an average of 34. He's got hundreds, not one or two, quite a few and in testing conditions but the average of 34 tells you about his temperament and that we got to look at it today as well," he added.

Abhishek Nayar, India's batting coach told the media on the eve of the 2nd Test in Kanpur:

“Yes, there are times where a player is sort of finding his feet. I feel in South Africa, he played tremendous knocks for India when he was there. So, we are very hopeful to the kind of combination that Gauti bhai (head coach Gautam Gambhir) has had and I have had with him that hopefully, we can have a turnaround in KL Rahul as well."

“These things sometimes take time. But I feel the way he is batting, even in the last game, I know we did not end up giving him much of a shot in the second innings, the way he was batting in the second innings is the kind of cricket we are expecting and hoping for from him. And I am pretty sure going forward you will see the expectations and the performances that you have from him.”

With so much batting talent in Ind - how this mental midget gets a spot in the team is beyond me.. Sarfaraz Khan should be in his place like now! And then you have sudarshan etc etc.. So many to pick from and this loser klrahul is picked, boggles the mind really

India's best results in recent times have come when he has been out injured or dropped from the squad or the playing xi

Aakash Chopra said in his YouTube channel:

"First is KL Rahul. He is the face of the franchise and you would want to make him the captain. You are not going to get him for RS 18 crore. Let's be honest, if he goes to the auction, he will get Rs 18 crore. Anyways you never leave the captain. For continuity that is important."

Big-hearted KL Rahul Pays for 20-year-old's Education: 'He Kept His Promise, Paid Rs 75,000 for My 2nd Year'

KL Rahul won a million hearts with his off-field gestures. He kept his promise to a 20-year-old boy, taking care of his college fees. The Indian cricketer has borne the financial expenses of Amrut Mavinakatti, a resident of Mahalingapura in Bagalkote district, to continue his education.

As reported by thesouthfirst.com, Rahul has extended financial aid to Mavinakatti to pursue his B. Com first-year studies at KLE Technological University in the BVB College campus in Hubballi.

Speaking to reporters in Hubli, Amrit Mavinakatti said that KL Rahul had helped him get admission to the college last year and promised, to help him financially in the second year as well.

“Last year, KL Rahul helped to get admission into college. I also scored a 9.3 CGPA in the first year. He stands by his words, and has paid Rs 75,000 for my second-year studies,” Mavinakatti was quoted by the website.

“I thank KL Rahul, Manjunath Hebasur and Bagalkot’s Nithin for financially helping me to continue my studies. I will continue to put sincere efforts to excel in academics,” he added.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir in a pre-departure press conference before leaving for Australia ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25:

"There are times you go with experienced players as well."

"He [KL Rahul] can bat at the top, middle order and at No. 6 as well. He can keep wicket; can do the job for us if Rohit is not available for the 1st Test."

Asking kl to open is kind of sick joke.dont management have any common sense? Kl was not even watching the ball and got bowled against a spinner in tour match.Jurel is also a middle order batsman and a keeper which negates 2 out of 3 great qualities of kl.So it's like we want him as an opener even though we know him he is quite bad and our back up opener is beyond pathetic who can't score on offside.

KL Rahul opened up on his future in the Indian Premier League after Lucknow Super Giants opted to release the 32-year-old ahead of the upcoming mega auction:

“I wanted to start fresh, I wanted to explore my options and I wanted to go and play where I could find some freedom,"

“Team atmosphere would be lighter, sometimes you just need to move away and find something good for yourself and I have been out of the T20 team for a while,"

“I know where I stand as a player and I know what I need to do to get back,"

“I look forward to this IPL season to give me that platform to go back and enjoy my cricket,"

“My aim is to obviously get back into the T20 team,"

KL Rahul, in an interview with a local sports media outlet:

"All of us as players want to play with freedom, and everyone would think that the way I batted, I'm enjoying playing that. But like I said, my thought process and motivation have always been team first. It doesn't matter what I want to do or what my natural game is. We play a team sport. If I played tennis, it would be different; I could stick to saying, 'This is my natural game.' But in a team sport, it's very different. Each game, you'll have a different role and responsibility given to you to find a way to deliver for the team.”

"I haven't changed over the years. I want to still play for India in all three formats and have done that for many years. I've been out of the T20 team for a while, and I know where I stand as a player and what I need to do to get back. So, I look forward to this IPL season to give me that platform to enjoy my cricket and play the way I want to.”

Yeah he need freedom for tuk tuk and stat pad

Once dravid left ,his position in both longer formats is hanging on by thread. If jurel can have a good series in bgt it end of klown. Jurel will be preferred for odi too as iyer and kl are nothing but atrocious in South African conditions

Sourav Ganguly, in an interview with a local sports media outlet, said:

"Yeah, confidence. He has to speak to himself. He has to speak to himself and say, just put everything behind. Ups and downs are part and parcel of sports. Confidence will go up and down. You have to bring it back by working hard in the nets. I know he has gone through a lot. Lucknow Super Giants have released him. I do not know whether they will buy him back in the auction. I am sure he will find a good team and get his worth in the IPL. But these things put pressure on players."

"So, I think he has got to sit with himself and get away from everything, all his friends and family, team and IPL owners, auctions and self discover. Look at the mirror and say, I need to play differently. I need to get tough inside and fight this period. He has got a fantastic 100 in South Africa last time round. He can score hundreds in these conditions. But the mind has to believe that and the fight has to be there."

"In and out of the team, he is seeing young players play well in T20s. You see what they have done in South Africa. He has to change and cannot keep playing the same way and expect to be picked all the time, because somebody else will come and get picked."

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar during conversation with a sports media outlet:

"It's not like KL Rahul as an opening option is setting the stage on fire. Going by the reality, KL Rahul currently you can see, you've got to feel for him, I love him as a player the kind of talent he has. He looks a bit down on confidence and you don't want someone like him batting at the top of the order because much of the tempo of the innings is set at the start number 1,2 and 3."

"I'm going by KL Rahul for the work he's done down the order and very recently in South Africa. He was batting at number six with a softer Kookaburra ball and if he has to bat with the tailenders, I feel he will be terrific where he's got the big game as well. So I see KL better used and more chances of KL Rahul adding value to the team at that position."

KL has completed 3000 runs in test cricket but now he is back to the dugout for 26. It looks like a controversial decision made by a third umpire.

Showing his maturity.
Its been a trend to hate him but he's been a very dependable batter for us. and all format batter.

He should let go off T20 ambitions and focus on securing his spot in test cricket where we need him the most now.

In away tests and challenging conditions he has been decent. Still remember that ton in SA. Its the easier conditions he struggles massively for no apparent reason

I have always maintained that he is a better test batter than his stats. Just that he has find himself unlucky to be seen as the player for tough conditions because he often does the hard work and gets out.

He is Indian Mike Atherton.

It's unfair to KL Rahul. Even though he's been playing well as an opener, he'll have to bat lower down the order as soon as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are back in the team.

It's like he's being moved around too much and not given a set batting position, unlike other players. This constant changing of his position makes it seem like the team is just experimenting with him.

His whole career really he’s had to deal with this. Rohit, Kohli Maria has done this.

He's played well in this test match but he's still a mentally weak and mediocre batsman who will not deliver most times. India shouldn't lose sight of the future which is Jaiswal, Gill and Pant, not someone like Rahul.

Michael Atherton had more guts.

The 2nd half century of BGT 2024/25 is scored by KL Rahul.

50* from 124 balls with 4x4s in the innings.
