[PICTURES/VIDEOS] KL Rahul - Performance Watch

I'd rather play a team of 10 players if allowed than include him in my playing 11. He is or perhaps will be detrimental to any limited overs team he plays for, be it IPL or for India's T20/ODI. He already single handedly cost us last WT20C.

Hopefully he gets thrown out of Indian squad soon and his career follows Sanju Samson path and he will be remembered as certified Ipl superstar, which hopefully also makes him happy and satisfied.

KL Rahul vs Top 5 in ODI’s.

Ave: 38 + SR 92

F Zaman vs Top 5 in ODI’s.

Ave: 44 + SR 92

The latter gets a lot of stick from our fans, but the fact is he’s the best LOI batsman to have ever played for Pakistan. When he scores, we win games. When Babar and Rizwan score, we lose games.

KL is not opening material in LOI format.
He is good for Tests.

His batting approach in power play will cost one more wc.. We don't need him in LOI.

Yeah like we lost in the T20 world cup when they scored bar Australia game. Fakhar scores once in blue moon. He is not even top 10 in Pak best ODI players

Agreed with this. Good post.

India should try some other opener instead of KL and not give him captaincy :inti

How can a batsman score once in a blue moon when he averages 44? His stats in ODI’s vs Top 5 is freakin’ ridiculous. Give me 5 names that have better ave+sr than Fakhar vs Top 5 for Pakistan.

He is good for tests? He plays just one good inning per test series. Look at his test average first. :inti
A poor player in all forms of the game. More he plays for us, more he'll harm us. And what's worst, he is seen as our full time captain in all forms of the game.

There won't be a more disastrous decision in Indian cricket than to appoint him as our full time captain.

"He Did A Good Job": Rahul Dravid Defends KL Rahul's Captaincy In ODI Series Loss To South Africa

India's head coach Rahul Dravid on Sunday admitted that his team didn't play "smart cricket at crucial times" but backed the beleaguered KL Rahul to get better as a leader in coming days.

India lost both the Test and ODI series in what turned out to be a disastrous tour of South Africa despite a bright start in the opening Test at Centurion, which the team won comprehensively.

"He did a good job. It's not easy to end on wrong side of the result," Dravid said when asked how he found Rahul as a leader, having lost all four games that he captained on tour.

"He is just starting out and I think he did a very decent job.

He will constantly get better as he captains," the head coach batted for the young skipper.

Dravid felt that "execution of skills" was lacking in all the three ODIs that India lost.

The series, according to Dravid, is a "good eye opener" but there is still a lot of time before the 2023 ODI World Cup, and India should be getting better in the near future.

"This is a good eye opener but we haven't played a lot of ODI cricket. We last played against England in March (after that second string side played against Lanka under Dravid's coaching).

We will play a lot of white ball cricket before next year's World Cup."

Dravid accepted that the Indian ODI team for the series didn't have the kind of balance required although he agreed that one can try and start looking at the template.

"The guys who play at 6, 7, and 8 weren't available for selection and when they come back, the side will have a slightly different look," he said.

He agreed that till the 30th over in both the chases, they were in the game before some of the batters played poor shots.

"We didn't play smart cricket at crucial times," he added.

As good as you get. We were able to see the whole range of strokes he possessed. A legend in the making.

KL Rahul Donates Rs 31 Lakh For Budding Cricketer's Treatment

India opener KL Rahul has come to the rescue of an 11-year-old budding cricketer in need of an urgent Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), donating Rs 31 lakh for the treatment of a rare blood disorder.

India opener KL Rahul has come to the rescue of an 11-year-old budding cricketer in need of an urgent Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), donating Rs 31 lakh for the treatment of a rare blood disorder. In December, Varad Nalawade's father Sachin, an insurance agent, and mother Swapna Jha, started a campaign to raise Rs 35 lakh they needed to pay for their son's treatment. Rahul's team got in touch with the organisation associated with the campaign as soon as they came to know about Varad.

Since last September, the fifth standard schoolboy had been under the care of haematologists in Mumbai's Jaslok Hospital after he was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia, a rare blood disorder.

Varad's blood platelet levels were very low, making his immune system extremely susceptible to infections. Even a normal fever was taking months to be cured. A BMT was the only permanent cure for Varad's condition.

Thanks to Rahul, Varad was operated upon and is now recuperating.

Speaking about the donation, Rahul said, "When I came to know about Varad's condition, my team got in touch with GiveIndia so that we can help him in any way we could."

"I am glad that the surgery was successful, and he is doing well. I hope Varad gets back on his feet at the earliest and goes on to achieve his dreams. I hope my contribution inspires more and more people to come forward and help those in need," he added.

Did anyone catch his dismissal against Rajastan Royals off the bowling of Trent Boult?

Almost identical to the Shaheen dismissal, although that one was better because of the angle. Boult was coming over the wicket.

This guy needs some batting lessons on how to play left-arm swing lol. Before people start making him out to be the next great Indian batting talent.

Sadio Mane scored twice as Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-2 in a classic FA Cup semi-final at Wembley and kept alive their quadruple hopes.

Ibrahima Konate opened the scoring after nine minutes before Mane netted a bizarre goal, tackling City keeper Zack Steffen on the goalline.

Mane added his second with a thunderous volley before the break.

Jack Grealish scored for City shortly after the restart and Bernardo Silva added another in the 91st minute.

But Liverpool held on to reach their 15th FA Cup final.

Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul on Tuesday broke his countryman Virat Kohli’s record for the fastest India batter to reach 6,000 runs in T20 cricket. Rahul took 179 innings to touch the milestone which is five less than what Kohli took.

Overall, he’s the third quickest to do so in the history of T20 cricket. West Indies legend Chris Gayle holds the record for the quickest to have completed 6,000 runs in the format, having taken just 162 innings and is followed by Pakistan captain Babar Azam at the second spot who took 165 innings.

While Rahul and Kohli occupy the first two spots among the Indians, Shikhar Dhawan completes the top-three having taken 213 innings to reach the landmark.

He is the greatest IPL batsman of all-time but needs to convert this performance into ICC World tournaments and be more consistent in Test cricket. It is a shame that a player of his calibre and ability is averaging about 10 lesser than what he should.

This guy is the best batsman in India and is in his prime. He needs to go out there and show it on the world stage. The next two years are very important in his career. It could either turn him into a household name or just a star batsman who never reached the pinnacle of the sport.

Didn't know Rahul was such an amazing football player too 😝🙏

He is not mentally strong enough to do that. Talent is useless if you cannot perform at the highest stage. Everyone knows that KL has the skills of a top class batsman. But his performances in international cricket shows that he is average or good at best at the highest level.

Continues to impress amongst Indian batsmen m. And this year it’s he’s been in fine form also.

Tomorrow match vs MI is another tough game against a struggling giant.

103* for KL Rahul in IPL for Lucknow Super Giants - very impressive

He is already an IPL great and will be on top 5 all time IPL batsmen list.

Rahul just need to translate his IPL form playing for India and need a breakthrough ICC event.

STAT: KL Rahul is the first player to score 3 100s against a particular opponent in all T20 cricket.

His 100s against MI are:

100* at Wankhede, 2019
103* at Brabourne, 2022

Lol no Warner who actually wins orange cap most number of times, 3.. also i think he's the one who hit most number of 50+ scores in all ipl combined, passing Kohli..

Lol at Virat at no.1. No one is a bigger stat booster than him in IPL. Raina and Rahul are the best in IPL and among overseas batters, Warner, Gayle and AB are also better. They have always done better than Kohli except 2016 where Kohli was in GOD mode. Buttler deserves a mention too.

Rohit has also been pretty average in IPl with bat although won 5 titles with MI.

Extremely talented batsman but the Mumbai bowling attack has been pretty poor this season. You see off Bumrah who is not good with the new bowl in terms of picking wickets upfront and then you can take on rest of the attacks.

Bumrah seems to be happy with usual 25-30 runs quota in 4 overs without taking any wicket.

Rajdeep rarely cares about the truth. Warner isn't indian so it's enough for him to disqualify him.
Kohli's great IPL SR of 129 shows how good he is.

A rapid 77 for KL Rahul today in the IPL.

Good knock.

KL Rahul has been dismissed for his third duck in IPL 2022

His record against teams other than MI in IPL 2022

Innings - 9
Runs - 245
Average - 27.2
Strike-rate - 129.62

68* (51) for KL Rahul for Lucknow Super Giants

Playing a captain's knock for LSG in Eliminator - 77* at the moment.

I think he's been a major underachiever in all formats considering his potential. Plus his tactics as captain are also strange.

KL is a great soldier to have in the team. But he should never lead the team. He struggles when put under pressure.

Why on earth would you not send Lewis atleast at 3 in a 200+ run chase? Yes if he gets out, it is a problem but you anyways won't gonna chase 200+ if you not gonna send Lewis at 3 with a hope that he will perform on a flat wicket because he could have really set it up big due to his hitting ability. You have to back your hitters in a 200+ chase.

KL has proven to be the best Limited over batsman in Indian cricket currently. He is at his peak now and he is pure class and hopefully be part of all 3 formats consistently.

Typical Rahul innings. This guy chokes more than Kohli and Rohit, and that's saying something.

Rahul has always been a choker, yesterday was no different.

His strike rate has never been up to the mark in T20s and Lucknow paid heavy price due to that.

It could take the India batter around two months to return to action.

KL Rahul has undergone surgery for a sports hernia, in Germany, and said that the process was "successful". Return to action is likely to take time, but the "road to recovery has begun", he tweeted on Wednesday night.

Good in all facets, great in none. Stands out among other mediocrities but cant stand up to the elites.

KL Rahul Issues Statement On "Health And Fitness", Aims To Recover Soon
India batter KL Rahul on Saturday issued a lengthy statement, saying testing positive for COVID-19 has pushed things by a couple of weeks but he aims to recover as quickly as possible

India batter KL Rahul on Saturday issued a lengthy statement, saying testing positive for COVID-19 has pushed his return to the international arena "back by a couple of weeks", but he aims to recover as quickly as possible and be available for selection. It is important to note that Rahul had been named in the squad for the T20Is against West Indies, but he ended up testing positive and hence was ruled out.

Prior to this, Rahul had suffered an injury before the T20I series against South Africa, and he did not feature in the five-match series.

Taking to Twitter, Rahul wrote: "Hey guys, I wanted to clarify a couple of things about my health and fitness. My surgery in June was successful and I had begun training with the hope of returning to national duty for the team's tour of the West Indies. Unfortunately, as I was nearing a return to full fitness, I tested positive for COVID-19."

"This naturally pushes things back by a couple of weeks, but I aim to recover as quickly as possible, and be available for selection as soon as I can. To represent the national team is the highest honour, and I cannot wait to get out there back in blue," he added.

Earlier on Saturday evening, India's squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, beginning August 18, was announced. Shikhar Dhawan will be leading the side while Deepak Chahar has made a comeback after recovering from an injury.

Former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris on Wednesday said that Indian batter KL Rahul will be ready to go against Pakistan when Men in Blue meet their arch-rivals in the blockbuster Asia Cup clash on August 28. Rahul had to bear an unceremonious time on the sidelines after his tragic injury post-IPL 2022 before he made a comeback to cricket in the recently concluded ODI series in Zimbabwe.

India will be starting its Asia Cup campaign with a high-octane clash against Pakistan on August 28.

His return to the team will provide a major boost to the side for as the team India eye their eight-time Asia Cup victory. Asia Cup 2022 will be played in UAE, starting from August 27 through September 11.

"First of all, with regards to KL Rahul, I wouldn't be worried either. I'd be worried if he'd be facing 5-10 balls each innings but the last one in particular - 46 deliveries I think it was. If that's the case, it means that time in the middle is coming and that means that he will become more and more fluent, game time in the middle? Far more valuable than the nets. So, I expect he'll be ready to go against Pakistan," said Styris on Sports 18 show 'Sports Over The Top'.

Styris reckoned that he is not worried about the returning batter's form and added that the Indian opener will get more momentum and will get back to his old self in time.

"Now, for that one? I'm with you though, I think he's going to go okay. The reason is for that is no Shaheen Afridi, we know that he's out injured, the way he attacks the stumps that is the way you get KL Rahul out. LBW and bowled. The fact that the main man who exposes that weakness is not there. I think KL Rahul has got an opportunity to be the star still, that we know he is because as Saba rightly pointed out, the pedigree is there," he added.

Coming to the Asia Cup, the 15th edition of the tournament will be played in the UAE between six teams (main event). Defending champions India are also the most successful team, having won the trophy seven times. While the last edition of the tournament was held in an ODI format, this edition will feature the T20 format.

The six teams are divided into two groups with India, Pakistan and a qualifying team in Group A; and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan forming Group B. Each team plays the other once in the group stage with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super 4 round. The top 2 teams from Super 4 will qualify for the final.

Looking in good touch KL. His record against Pak is poor, good chance to change that today

Looks mentally shot and hence his poor returns with bat. Really brave of us to still play him in each game. For heaven's sake, he even failed against Zimbabwe.

He is playing well but not getting that big score, although it seems to be around the corner.

That six to Naseem was something else - probably the short of the tournament for me and highlighted his incredible ability. Granted that Naseem is a mediocre bowler, that was a special shot.

He played a big knock against Hong Kong. 39 balls is a lot in a T20.

SR of 140 on this wicket is not good enough, he will cost India more games than he will win. Looks mentally shot out there to be honest.

Biggest choker India has produced.

He is only surviving at international level due to his ability to play pace and bounce and range of shots he has.

India opener KL Rahul has received solid backing from Australia legend Shane Watson, who believes the right-hander can relieve pressure on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli at the top of the Indian order as the Asia Cup approaches its conclusion and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup draws nearer.

Rahul has only played three T20Is this year – all in the Asia Cup – and is searching for touch and form before the all-important ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 next month.

India has adopted an aggressive approach with its batting since its struggles at last year’s edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, but Rahul hasn’t been able to have a major impact.

He’s scored 0, 36 and 28 in his three Asia Cup outings so far at a strike-rate of 106.67.

However, Watson believes that among India’s top three of Rohit, Kohli and Rahul, the latter could be the most potent in terms of strike rate.

“I just want him to be the best version of him,” Watson told Sanjana Ganesan in The ICC Review.

“And the times where I’ve seen the best version of him is when he’s really taking on the game.

“We’ve seen it a number of times in the IPL, a number of times for India as well. When he finds his feet and knows what the conditions are, he really takes down the bowlers.”

Rahul, who recently came back into India’s T20I team after an injury layoff, has come under criticism from some quarters for his slow starts. But Watson believes that if he breaks the shackles, it will help Rohit and Kohli play their natural games.

“He’s got an array of shots against the best bowlers in the world that no one can stop. When he becomes more of an accumulator, like he was at Punjab Kings and also for Lucknow Super Giants (in the IPL), he’s slightly lower risk but still can play the big shots. I believe he’s better than that,” said Watson.

“He can score at a 150-160 strike-rate against the best bowlers in the world and that’d take a bit of pressure off Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as well.

“So for me, when KL Rahul is at his best, he’s really taking the game on. He’s not accumulating runs, he’s just taking them on, from ball one. That’s the skill he’s got.”

In fact, Watson touted Rahul to be the main man for India in T20Is, stating his prime is yet to come.

“He’s performed very well in international cricket for India in recent times. He’s that good. The skill that he’s got, he certainly can be the main man,” said Watson.

“And he’s only 30 as well. He’s still got three, four, five years at his absolute prime at the international level.

“Batters normally take until they are 27, 28 or even into their early 30s for their whole game to come together – technique, mental aspect as well. He’s still got a lot of years in his prime.

“He can definitely take his game to that really high-performing, consistent level. That’s the skill he’s got.”

Watson went on to compare Rahul to former Australian stylist Damien Martyn, saying Rahul was one of his favourite players to watch.

“His skill, how effortlessly he takes on fast-bowling, spin, he’s got all the shots in the book and he just times the ball so beautifully,” Watson said.

“When I look at him batting, it makes me think of Damien Martyn and the grace that he had when he played, how hard he hit the ball. It looks like he’s not trying to hit the ball hard at all.

“In recent times, Suryakumar Yadav has certainly got that style as well. Babar Azam, you can’t go past him.

“But when it comes to KL Rahul, he’s certainly right up there with … his ability to just be able to take on the best bowlers of the world with so much ease. It’s not that easy.”

It's absurd how a hack like Rahul was once praised to the moon. I personally never rated the guy. Surely India can find somebody better to fill whatever role he has?

Keep cool guys, he has played the shot of the tournament according to Mamoon. That's enough.

Shocked that India keep sticking with this guy. The guy is a mental Midget who is only good for scoring nothing but soft runs
