He failed when he was at his peak in 2016 WC. He is a trundler who bowls good line and length. He is good for IPL only. India has many better options.

TATA IPL 2024 Match 12 , SRH Vs GT - Match Report

Gujarat Titans (GT) fortified their record at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, with a seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 12 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. A good effort by the bowlers, coupled with a combined effort by the batting unit, ensured GT’s second win of the 2024 season.

On a warm afternoon in Ahmedabad, SRH captain Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first. Fresh from their recent heroics, which resulted in the record team score at the Tata IPL, SRH were confident walking in to face the GT bowling.

In comparison to the match at Hyderabad, SRH had a steadier start and did not race away in the powerplay. While Travis Head continued to attack, Mayank Agarwal was more watchful and was ultimately dismissed in the fifth over when he tried to flick Azmatullah Omarzai over backward square-leg.

Abhishek Sharma, too, was aggressive and welcomed Rashid Khan into the attack with two sixes in the last over of the powerplay. Post the powerplay, Head was dismissed for 19 when Noor Ahmad bowled him while attempting a slog.

The interesting thing about the SRH innings was that GT kept picking wickets at regular intervals, although the batters got starts and showed flashes of aggression. The highest partnership of the innings was 45 for the sixth wicket, between Abdul Samad and Shahbaz Ahmed – which provided some impetus towards the end. However, none of the SRH batters crossed 30, with Abhishek and Samad being the joint top scorers with 29 each. As many as four batters got into the 20s.

Mohit Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for GT, with three for 25 in his four overs, which included back-to-back scalps in the last over. This played a major role in keeping SRH to 162.

GT were up against a target of 163 and were powered to a good start by Wriddhiman Saha. The wicketkeeper-batter unleashed his usual array of shots in the powerplay, picking his angles and clearing the in-field. The highlight was a six over mid-wicket off Jaydev Unadkat.

Shahbaz, the left-arm spinner, was brought on during the powerplay and gave SRH their first breakthrough in his second over when Saha tried to clear mid-on but only found the fielder. Sai Sudharsan walked in at No. 3 as an Impact Player replacing Mohit. GT moved along steadily towards the total with him and Shubman Gill in the middle.

Gill picked up pace after Saha’s dismissal and played some attacking shots. He lofted Shahbaz with ease over wide long-off for his first six. Sudharsan started confidently with a well-timed flick through mid-wicket off Bhuveshwar. In tandem, they added another 38 as the first time out dawned. But, soon after the break, Gill was dismissed when he tried to clear long-on off Mayank Markande.

GT promoted David Miller to No. 4 to manage the chase with his experience and stitch a partnership with the promising Sudharsan. To start with, they rotated strike and didn’t take any unwanted risks. Going into the last five overs, GT needed 49. SRH would have held on to hope, after all their opponents defended a similar margin last week against MI at the same venue.

Those hopes were dashed as Miller and Sudharsan attacked Markande in the 16th over, picking up 24 runs. Miller cleared the fence twice in trademark style, and Sudharsan picked one over long on and sent it into the crowd. This came at a time when Miller was seemingly hampered by injury and was also attended to by the GT physio.

Sudharsan fell soon after for 45 as he hit Cummins straight to mid-wicket. However, by then, the required rate was down to a run-a-ball.

Vijay Shankar and Miller finished the job with five balls to spare, moving along to the total with composure. Miller sealed the deal with a six over long-off, remaining unbeaten on 44.

What a catch that was.. unlucky Warner.. 2nd time he's getting out similar fashion..

For the sake of "Indian Test Team's future" I want Pant to succeed in this IPL, lead from the front and win the cup for DC for the first time! This way it will eradicate any doubt's in both Pant & People's mind about his comeback... Pant should play again for Indian Test Team with his usual glory and become the captain of the test team! After that I don't mind if plays for IPL or not... Looks like he is slowly getting back to his touch...

New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell is representing the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2024. While speaking to local Indian media, he said:

Yeah, for me, I guess that's the cool thing about batting in the middle order is never the same. Each innings is always different. That's something I pride myself on is that I can adapt to different situations and work out ways to keep trying to extend partnerships and, and also put pressure back on the bowlers. It was cool to see the boys at the top make the most of that new ball and set the platform."

"Look for me firstly to play international cricket at a later age, it's a blessing that it allowed me to learn my game at the domestic level for some time and work out not only the cricketer that I want to be but also the sort of person I want to be off the field as well. And I think that's again a real blessing to be able to do that."

Massive defeat coming up for CSK. After Dube, there is nothing much to come. Paper thin batting.

Only Ravindra, Dube and Mitchell are real impact players and 2 of them are already in the hut.

102/5 . MSD with a net worth of around $ 150 million is a highly corrupt motivated money making machine !

MSD has been hiding behind Jadeja and other lower order/tailenders since 2016. He was good till 2013. Since then he rode the 2011 WC win and milked the win to full extent.

Delhi Capitals defeated defending champions Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs to register their first victory in IPL 2024 in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

Comeback man Rishabh Pant hit a much-awaited fifty after David Warner's well-constructed 52 to set up Delhi Capitals' convincing 20-run win over Chennai Super Kings. For Chennai Super Kings, veteran MS Dhoni's vintage knock was not enough to cross the line in their IPL match in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. Faced with a tough 192-run target, the Super Kings tried to scale it down through Ajinkya Rahane (45), Dhoni (37 not out), and Daryl Mitchell (34). However, the Capitals had far too many guns for them on the night. CSK ended up at 171 for six.

Ravi Ashwin while speaking on a podcast interview hosted by Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist:

"No one envisaged the kind of growth that the IPL has had. I still remember a conversation I had with Scott Styris when we were both at CSK. He told me that when he was playing for the Deccan Chargers in the initial seasons of IPL, he did not think the IPL would last for more than two-three years. Initially, there was a big influx of money."

Sanjay manjrekar told the crowd to "behave" when they booed Hardik Pandya during the toss today..

Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals, 14th Match

Rajasthan Royals opt to bowl

Mumbai Indians (Playing XI): Ishan Kishan(w), Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya(c), Tim David, Gerald Coetzee, Piyush Chawla, Akash Madhwal, Jasprit Bumrah, Kwena Maphaka

Rajasthan Royals (Playing XI): Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson(w/c), Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Nandre Burger, Yuzvendra Chahal

Sanju Sampson has been brilliant in this IPL behind the stumps. If only he could bat the same way and be consistent.

Ball is swinging and MI batsmen are clueless against Boult.

3rd wicket down for MI. Massive pressure on Hardik Pandya.

Rohit Sharma , Naman Dhir and brevis all the of them Got iut for golden Duck against Boult
Rohit 0(1)
Dhir 0(1)
Brevis 0 (1)

South African Australian pitch in India. Killer Pace and Bounce on Display. Please to watch the Indian flat track bullies exposed big time against quality heat.

Still don't understand why MI release Boult..! He almost always gets a wicket in his first over..

Chahal must be one of the worst fielders ever.He doesn't improve any of cricketing aspect even after so many years.

I want Pandya To score century and still RR to win so Rohit fan boy Will keep quiet for some times

Chahal has been consistently good bowler in every IPL. His offline antics in social media is the reason why he gets mocked up and is out of Indian side. Can't fault him as a cricketer though.

He is out of Indian side because his bowling is mediocre. Even if he gets a wicket or two every match, it comes at high cost. He consistently goes over 40 runs in his 4 overs. He is a pathetic fielder and his batting is even worse than his fielding.

If Ashwin cannot get in, Chahal should not. At least Ashwin can bat a bit and does not drop catches.

Both Chahal and Ashwin plays for the same IPL team and chahal outbowls him every game

I wonder what will happen to ind team when pandya plays as a player and a potential future captian when rohit, bumrah are still there
Unfortunately, they will carry this toxic IPL war into the international side. MI management could have handled the captaincy transition better. Over the years, Rohit built his own group. Initially, Hardik will face some resistance from Bumrah, SKY, Ishant, Tilak, etc.

Tim David is batting on 17* off 21 and he can take them to a fighting total with two overs left.

I should have mentioned that I was talking about international cricket.

Lots of Indian bowlers bowl well in IPL. But struggle in international cricket.

Innings Break

Mayank Yadav appears to be a new Indian Speedster?

MI going Lahore Qalandars way. Big team from a big city with big names and struggling to get wins.

A clinical Rajasthan Royals secured their third consecutive victory in the Indian Premier League with a convincing six-wicket win over Mumbai Indians. The match, held on Monday, saw Mumbai Indians struggling to find their footing, with skipper Hardik Pandya facing the brunt of fans' dissatisfaction.

The Rajasthan Royals' bowlers, Yuzvendra Chahal (3/11) and Trent Boult (3/22), put up an impressive performance, suffocating Mumbai Indians' batting lineup and restricting them to a modest total of 125/9. In response, Riyan Parag emerged as the hero for the Royals, delivering yet another stellar performance with the bat. The 22-year-old showcased his maturity and aggression, playing a composed innings filled with spectacular hits.

Parag's unbeaten knock of 54 runs was adorned with five fours and three sixes, guiding the Rajasthan Royals to victory. With his exceptional batting display, he propelled his team to the top of the IPL points table. The Royals reached their target of 127/4 in just 15.3 overs, sealing the win with 27 balls to spare.

Who are the big names? Pandya, Bumrah ,Rohit?

I dont even know who spins for them? Piyush?

Kishan and Tilak. All played for India and notable names. They also have Coetzee in their bowling lineup who bowled very well in WC and a teenage sensation Mapaka.

I don't bother about mi but it will cause ripples in the ind team for sure with bumrah in odis and sky in t20s.Rohit hopefully may retire in odis after ct25 .

Hardik is not having a good time with MI. This move has proven costly for the franchise till now.

This is one of the (main) drawback of IPL. Money taking over everything... Pandya was doing so good with GT team. Both Pandya (as a player and captain) and GT team were developing so well, just to see this unfortunate disintegration... Pandya coming back to MI Team which already has iconic Rohit, and now all this hatred, I think this will kill the career of Pandya completely. He was already a delicate player with fitness & other issues, and this won't help him any further... But he is that rare breed in Indian cricket which one should not forget (pace bowling alrounder).

Once he grew into a matured player, it was good that he moved into a less-glamor team (GT) where he could develop both as a player & captain... He is the perfect player to lead Indian T20 Team for next 2-3 years with young players (where there is no Rohit & other seniors perhaps even Kohli... that is how a T20 team should be ideally...) and GT was the perfect ideal team for him to keep himself in shape! Pandya (given his fitness issues) should only be playing T20 and he can do so well for Indian T20 team giving balance to the team and also if he can grow as a good captain (alrounders usually do well as Captain because they can give the balance to the team + can perform in more than one discipline + they can bring the best out of themselves, utilize themselves better... That's why there are many successful captains in world cricket like Kapil Dev, Imran Khan, Steve Waugh, etc. Even MSD is a kind of alrounder) But now with this event, I think Pandya as player as a player will be a finished chapter (unfortunately). He is already finished in tests, finished in ODIs too (the way he exited in World Cup and how it affected team balance)...

I think IPL would be better-off run by state cricket association (bit like Ranji) and indirectly sponsored by corporates with corporates not involving in team-management resulting in such outrages... Of course Corporates can question team's performance but at the end of the day a proper cricket-management can only handle it properly. For instance Karnataka Ranji Team is one of the major champion team in domestic cricket, but RCB (hailing from same state/city) is joke of a team! And now what MI has achieved with this Pandya debacle? MI is performing utterly bad and I don't see them improving this season with team's morale damaged completely...
