Royals have endured 4 years of underperformance from Parag. They have invested wisely.

Hope he stays loyal to them when he plays for India and not do a Pandya.

He is only 22. He has come of age in domestic. He was also sent down very late in past seasons as they had guys like padikkal
 
Parag should change Domestic teams for more exposure and better PR, he has a sports family (mom and dad).

Although today’s knock will get hime highlighted after being repbought by RR.

If he ends up as one of the top scorers in this IPL, there is a chance he could be in the WT20 squad. Its tough as the competition is high.

Riyan can only get in the team if he modifies himself as a true all rounder. Then he can definitely take the spot of Axar as a backup for Jaddu. I hope Parag does not give up bowling since he is shining with the bat.

He is much much better than Axar with the bat. But bowling still remains a question mark for him.

He has pulled Assam single handedly to a decent level in domestic cricket.

And he is apparantly very proud of being Assamese.

He shouldn't change domestic team. He will get chance to play for India after wt20.

Competition is heavy.

Gill/KL Rahul/Kohli/Pant(If Jurel is picked as keeper), Ishan Kishan/Iyer/Samson/Rinku Singh and now Parag.

Only 3 will be picked from this.

Best chance for Parag is to showcase himself as an all rounder. Only Jaddu/Axar/Pandya are contending for that 2 player spot. I feel Parag can take Axar's place.
 
Mumbai Indians missed a trick by holding back Jasprit Bumrah in the opening six powerplay overs, Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Heinrich Klaasen told the official broadcaster:

"They didn't bowl their best bowler in the powerplay ... that was our plan."

"They missed a trick up front. We've got incredible strikers up front in our batting line-up. They just set the tempo, so our work was basically done."

India batsman have this issue once they established their batting they leave their bowling jaiswal not bowling anymore

This is what I absolutely hate about Indian coaches. I don't know why they do not encourage batsmen who used to be able to bowl keep up with their bowling too.
Playing as pure batsman is detrimental to the team balance. India has not learned anything in the past decade of failures.

Just a few toxic Rohit fans are abusing, starting boycott trends, spreading hate, and booing simply because the management sacked Rohit from the captaincy and gave it to Hardik. The trend started a few days before the start of the IPL, and now it has reached the next level after they lost two matches.

The abuses that Hardik is receiving are disgraceful. Some are attacking his family and personal life.

If we look at it in a different way, it shows how invested fans are in their franchises. But for players, they are living on a knifes edge. Adoring fans can turn into worst abusers pretty quickly.

Tristan Stubbs gave DC hope in the end but Avesh’s last over was on the mark, as he kept it full for the most part and barely gave any hitting room.

Getting paid by billionaires isn't selling out.

But using underhanded means to gain advantage and getting paid under the table is. His transfer is shady and everybody knows it.

Other players in IPL are getting paid for doing their jobs. Hardik was paid under the table for a shady transfer.

Everyone is saying that? Is that true? I don't like him for a lot of other reasons. Mumbai INdians were the one that kicked him out. THey wanted him again. Besides why are they still playing Rohit? He is like averaing 19, 20 in the last 2 seasons at low strike rate. Practically useless.
 
RR is a team, they always play as a team from the first season, I silently always want them to win due to their efforts.

Hardik deserves all the hate.

Just look at the stats iin the IPL. He has one of the worst plya off record among experienced player. He also had several seasons of low strike rate. He hardly makes it count. Just plays some cameo and gets out. He is almost 37. So MI changing the captaincy is the right move. Probably they could have made SKy as the captain. But he himself is 33. Kishan is another option. They might let Rohit go at some point.

All the options for MI are terrible, they are doomed for near future.
The only thing working for them is Kishan and Pandya only want to play IPL.

Nothing wrong with that. THey want him who is doing captaincy for GT. Obviously he would not want to lose that. MI has been donig poorly under Rohit who himself is a baggage for his side. IN order to let Rohit go they have to strip his captaincy off first.
 
It is Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Kolkata Knight Riders tonight. RCB to win?. I guess KKR has more chances based on their current team. Looks strong as compared to RCB.

The IPL 2024 match between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals on Thursday saw a break in match proceedings due to a confusion over tournament rules regarding the use of a foreign player as a substitute fielder. DC head coach Ricky Ponting and director of cricket Sourav Ganguly were seen having a chat with the fourth umpire when RR decided to field Rovman Powell as a substitute fielder. RR started the match with three overseas players - Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer, and Trent Boult - and decided to bring Nandre Burger as their impact player in place of Hetmyer.

However, controversy erupted when they brought Rovman Powell on as a substitute fielder and the DC camp pointed out that it means that RR ended up using five overseas players in the match.

A look at what the IPL rules say -

RULE 1.2.5Each team may not name more than 4 Overseas players (as defined in the IPL Player Regulations) in its starting eleven for any match. RULE

RULE 1.2.6A team may not have more than 4 Overseas players on the field of play at any time during any Match. Thus, if the team names the maximum 4 Overseas players in its starting XI, an Overseas player may only take the field as a substitute fielder if the player that he is replacing is an Overseas player. If the team names less than 4 Overseas players in its starting XI, Overseas players may only enter the field of play as substitute fielders to the extent that by doing so, they do not take the total number of Overseas players representing that team on the field to more than 4.

Riyan Parag smashed a 45-ball 84 not out as Rajasthan Royals defeated Delhi Capitals by 12 runs.

Sent in to bat, Parag hit seven fours and six sixes on way to his highest IPL score as RR recovered from 36 for 3 in the eighth over to post a challenging 185 for 5.

In reply, opener David Warner made a 34-ball 49 but DC crumbled under pressure with the bowlers producing a clinical display.

Tristan Stubbs (44 not out) tried his bit but it was too little too late.

Nandre Burger (2/29) and Yuzvendra Chahal (2/19) picked up two wickets each. Avesh Khan (1/29) also did well.

Earlier, Parag added 54 with Ravichandran Ashwin, who smashed three sixes on way to a 19-ball 29. Parag also shared 52 runs with Dhruv Jurel (20) and another 43 with Shimron Hetmyer (14 not out).

(Perhaps even captain that series if no one else is available at that time - for captaincy...) Only then we have a chance! He should not get demoralized playing these fast-demand tournaments, his body & mind should not get crashed...
 
I know Pant plays IPL for M-factor, but at least they should not have made him captain...

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Kolkata Knight Riders clash at the IPL 2024 pits two side who share a bit of history. In the first-ever match of the IPL, the two teams faced each other with KKR winning it. Since then, they have come face to face on a number of occasions. Now, ahead of the match, IPL's official broadcasters shared an old video of Gambhir where he cane bee seen delivering some interesting observations on RCB.

"One team which I wanted to beat every time, probably even in my dreams was RCB. Probably the second-most high profile team, flamboyant team with the owner and probably the squad - Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers. Honestly not won anything, still thought they won everything. That kind of attitude. I can't take that. Probably the three best wins that KKR ever had was against RCB," Gautam Gambhir says in the video.

"One thing that I want in my cricket career is go on the field and beat RCB."

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) allrounder Andre Russell showered praise on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and said that they have "great matchwinners" in their squad.

The Kolkata-based franchise will lock horns against RCB in their upcoming match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference, Russell said that KKR won't be taking RCB for granted as they can take away any game. The Caribbean allrounder added that the Bengaluru-based franchise have good bowling unit.

"My mindset is very clear, especially coming after a win and getting some runs as well. [But] I am not going to take anything for granted. RCB is an amazing team and they have some great matchwinners, who can take the game away from us. They have a good bowling unit as well. So I hope that if I face five, six, seven, eight balls in the backend, I make the best use of it. But I would love the other batters to come to the party tomorrow and at least get some time in the middle," Russell was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as saying.

RCB batting coach Neil McKenzie talked about the pitch at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

"I think the other day's pitch had a bit of up-and-down movement, but that's definitely not the norm. So I think it should be a good pitch [tomorrow] with some pace in it, which should probably suit our team," McKenzie said.

Steve Smith expressed his excitement about the prospect of seeing Mitchell Starc face off against Virat Kohli during a program in international sports media:

Even 300 will not be enough for RCB to defend (but they will never ever reach that figure in first place). Both their batting & bowling lacks depth... (as always)
