That was a crazy game with Chelsea having two goals ruled out by VAR. Maguire could also have been sent off prior to his goal.

The margins have gone Man Utd's way tonight but that's football in the VAR era. However, a very good three points and Utd feel they are back in the hunt for a Champions League spot due to the City situation.

No doubt, but we just need Ole to strike more against the mid to lower level teams as that is where we have been struggling. We have Watford at home this weekend and it wouldn't surprise me if we drop points as we struggle to break teams down when they get men behind the ball.

We are guilty of not moving the ball quick enough as a higher tempo will give the opposition more of a headache. I'm hopeful that we can get 3 points on Sunday. It's not ideal having a Europa League game tomorrow, but that is where we find ourselves.

This is what bruno was bought for, we will see how good he is in these games, but more creativity is needed in the middle of the park, plus on that right side were we dont have a winger.

Finally, the day has come - Liverpool is 0-3 down with 20 minutes to go. This is a monumental achievement for Watford to win a game against a side that has drawn only one game in last 36 with 35 wins in the toughest leagues in world. And, it actually tells how difficult it is in EPL.

The Premier League has announced that the pre-match handshakes between both teams and officials will not take place until further notice because of fears over the spread of coronavirus.

The measure comes the day after the government asked the league "to step up its contingency planning".

The teams will still line up as usual but the home team will walk past the away side without shaking hands.

There have been more than 90,000 cases of the virus in 87 countries.

A statement on the Premier League's website said: "The Premier League fair-play handshake will not take place between players and match officials from this weekend until further notice based on medical advice.

"Coronavirus is spread via droplets from the nose and mouth and can be transmitted on to the hands and passed on via a handshake."

Premier League leaders Liverpool announced on Thursday that they would not be having mascots at Anfield.

They have also cancelled staff travelling to any high-risk countries and "reminded everyone of good hygiene practices".

The club also said there will be "hand sanitisers and/or antibacterial handwash in all the washrooms at Anfield" as well as hygiene information posters.

Last week Newcastle manager Steve Bruce said the club had stopped their morning handshake ritual while West Ham boss David Moyes said the players would be fist bumping instead of shaking hands.

Southampton also banned players from signing autographs or taking selfies with fans.

League One club Sunderland have also told their players to not go abroad during their upcoming break.

He isn't the man to get Man United competing with Pep and Klopp. They are world class managers, while Ole is barely a championship standard manager. Man United need Poch and then back him heavily in the transfer window.

I said to you previously, you cant judge a manager when hes given Lingard, pereria in MF, a slacker like martial upfront and a virus like pogba in the dressing room. To judge Ole you have to give him a proper run to challenge for the title with the funds and the right players, so far he has shown he has it in him with his management and player coaching as well as his shrew transfer business, yet some clueless fans will still want poch whos never won anything and were the same backing Mourinho. So far it seems he will he get another season in charge and it will be hes real test.

Next season will be his test. You can't use the excuse next season of him needing time as he would have had 18 months.

He has to be competing with City and Liverpool next year.

As long as he gets the funds to plug the holes in which are RW, a striker and sorting the Pogba situation, i think he will be able to challenge for the title.

Man United are on course for their worst ever points tally in the premier league era. I don't care if he has done a good job in the last month. Before that, it was absolute rubbish and he only lasted this long, because he is an ex player.

It's foolish to keep Ole on as a manager, when a far better manager in Poch is available.

The Premier League now appears to be edging closer to an unprecedented suspension.

For several days now senior officials have privately believed matches would soon have to be played closed doors with preparations made to do so. Despite mounting criticism for carrying on as normal and being so out of step with other competitions around the world, the Premier League agreed to follow government policy.

But with several clubs now directly affected by the outbreak the integrity of the league is clearly in jeopardy. So what happens next?

Both the Premier League and EFL are desperate to get their remaining matches played.

If Euro 2020 is postponed by Uefa for a year on Tuesday, space could perhaps be created in the calendar for any delayed matches to be played, and a case could be made to government to pause the Premier League and EFL seasons for several weeks.

That would at least avert the threat of legal action from clubs claiming they have been denied promotion or European qualification.

The EFL, which hopes to resume play a day earlier than the Premier League on 3 April, said clubs were also advised to suspend "non-essential activities" such as "player appearances, training ground visits and fan meetings".

Late on Thursday it was announced Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had tested positive for the virus, and early on Friday Chelsea striker Callum Hudson-Odoi revealed he had been affected, while Everton say a first-team player has shown symptoms.

Earlier this week, several clubs - including Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester City, Bournemouth, Manchester City, Juventus and Real Madrid - revealed they have either all or some of their playing staff in self-isolation.

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said: "In this unprecedented situation, we are working closely with our clubs, government, the FA and EFL and can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority."

The Premier League said its "aim is to reschedule the displaced fixtures", while the Football Association said "all parties are committed at this time to trying to complete this season's domestic fixture programme".

In total, 10 people have now died in the UK with the virus and there have been 596 confirmed cases across the country.

On Thursday Prime Minister Boris Johnson said suspending major public events such as sporting fixtures was being considered by the government but would be a measure primarily to protect public services, rather than delay the spread.

These are deeply turbulent times in English football - and across world sport - which is having to face up to a period of disruption and dislocation unprecedented in peacetime.

Privately, all parties admit that resuming matches in early April - when the initial suspension will be reviewed - will be almost impossible.

But the hope is that next week a decision is taken to postpone Euro 2020 for a year, thereby freeing up space in the calendar to reschedule outstanding matches and complete domestic league seasons across the continent at some stage.

This action goes against the government's highly controversial advice to continue staging sports events despite mass gatherings being closed or cancelled across the world.

But Department for Culture Media and Sport officials are known to be supportive of the decision football authorities have taken, given the need to protect employees and the mounting cases of players contracting the virus.

The problem is that the outbreak is expected to be at its peak in May and June so if the suspension keeps on being extended, some clubs may start to push for the season to be declared void, a nightmare scenario for clubs like Liverpool and Leeds, who both stand on the brink of long-awaited glory.

But as it stands, there seems to be a determination to complete the season if at all possible.

Simply stopping the season as it stands now seems unlikely given it would run the risk of legal action from clubs relegated or denied promotion.

The EFL is expected to ask the government for financial help for some of the clubs who now face even more financial uncertainty but there is no guarantee this will be possible in these extraordinary times.

One senior source at a Premier League club says he believes there is a 75 per cent chance this season will not be completed.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, he told Sky Sports News: "I can't see any chance we will be back in three weeks. This will go on for months and you wonder even about the start of next season.

There is a 75% chance the Premier League season will not be completed due to coronavirus, a senior club source has told Sky Sports News.

English football chiefs decided on Friday to suspend Premier League and all other top-level football fixtures until 3 April at the earliest because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The virus outbreak is causing major disruption to the sporting calendar and may not reach its peak until 10-14 weeks' time - well after the football season is due to finish.

The Premier League club source told SSN's Kaveh Solhekol: "I can't see any chance we will be back in three weeks. This will go on for months and you wonder even about the start of next season."

He added: "I'd say there is a 75% chance the season will not be completed. There are huge questions to answer. Does anybody get promoted or relegated?

"Many clubs in all four divisions will struggle financially."

An emergency Premier League meeting is set to take place on Thursday when football chiefs will decide what happens next.

If the season is not completed then these are some of the possible scenarios:

Give the title to Liverpool and have no relegations this season. Next season there would be 22 teams in the Premier League - with West Brom and Leeds promoted from the Championship
The season is declared null and void and next season begins with the same 20 teams - unlikely, especially because Liverpool are 25 points clear at the top of the table and have all but won their first title for 30 years
The table as it stands now is the final table - unlikely, because it would be unfair to relegate Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Norwich after only 29 matchdays
West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady says this season's Premier League should be declared "null and void" if it can't be finished due to the pandemic.

Ms Brady, who will attend the Premier League meeting on Thursday, claimed it would be "the only fair and reasonable thing to do" if there are further delays to the season.

"Suspension or cancellation of the league was always a certainty," she wrote in The Sun.

"There is no dodging the possibility that all levels in the EFL, as well as the Premier League, will have to be cancelled and this season declared null and void because if the players can't play the games can't go ahead.

"The PL hopes that an interlude of three weeks from today will enable it to restart but that may well be dreamland."

She added: "Who knows who would have gone down or come up if the games have not actually been played in full?

"[It is] a huge blow to Liverpool who might be robbed of their first title in 30 years. This will be discussed between the PL and the clubs next week at an emergency meeting."

Relegation-threatened West Ham currently sit 16th in the table, level on points with AFC Bournemouth in 18th.

Brighton's chief executive Paul Barber says it is "really hard to imagine" the Premier League resuming 4 April, as is currently hoped.

The Premier League has said "conditions at the time" will determine whether fixtures can return on that date after they were suspended due to coronavirus.

But Barber told Football Focus that date was already looking unlikely.

"We've got several teams in self isolation, which makes it difficult to think about that date," he said.

"Those players have not just got to self-isolate for 14 days, they've got to get themselves close to match fitness again, which could take another seven to 14 days. So we've got a number of complexities here, which go way beyond thinking of the finances."

On Thursday, England's chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty said the peak of the UK outbreak is most likely 10 to 14 weeks away, which would be late May or early June.

Premier League clubs are set to meet on Thursday, two days after Uefa discuss the fate of Euro 2020.

"If we were to freeze the league it would be incredibly unjust for Liverpool to not be awarded the title, because everybody in the game appreciates what a fantastic season they have had. Equally it would be unjust for teams to be relegated with nine or 10 games to go in the Premier League.

"I think it's a possible option to leave the 20 teams in the league as it is but bring the top two in the Championship up.

"It gives us a larger league, with four relegation places next season and then two teams coming up again. It has some merit but there are a lot of issues to be worked through.

"If we can't complete the season we have to look at radical solutions to get over a short-term hump, as it is."

Leeds United managing director Angus Kinnear says it is "vital" for the EFL and Premier League seasons to be played to their conclusion in order to maintain "the integrity of the football pyramid".

The Premier League and EFL have been forced to postpone all fixtures until April 4 and 3 respectively at the earliest due to the global coronavirus pandemic.

An EFL meeting is due to be held on Wednesday to discuss its plans for the Championship, League One and League Two.

Officials from all 20 Premier League clubs will hold an emergency meeting on Thursday to establish plans for the remainder of the season, with one senior source at a Premier League club telling Sky Sports News there is a 75 per cent chance this campaign will not be completed.

That would be a blow to Leeds, who lead the Championship table by a point from West Bromwich Albion with nine games remaining, but Kinnear believes there is a growing consensus that finishing the 2019/20 season is the best course of action.

"From our perspective, we think it is vital that it is completed," Kinnear told Sky Sports News. "I think there is a growing sense across the football family that that is the right thing to do.

"It is difficult to speculate on timelines and now is the time for patience and cool heads. I think for the integrity of the football pyramid and the financial security of the clubs, finishing the league is the right thing to do.

"You have already seen La Liga and Serie A come out and say they want the leagues completed and they want Euro 2020 suspended so that they can do that. I think that is probably the right decision."

Kinnear says Leeds' preference remains to play their games in front of supporters and stressed the importance of the needs of clubs outside the Premier League and the Championship, who depend more on gate receipts than TV revenue for their financial well-being.

"If it is the choice between not finishing the league and playing behind closed doors, we would like to play behind closed doors but ultimately we really think we owe it to our fans, and fans across the country, to complete the league," Kinnear said.

"That would be the ideal but it needs to be in a situation where it is safe to do so. From a fan perspective I think it would be the right decision to try and play the games with supporters there.

"Obviously from a financial perspective, it is going to make a huge difference to the clubs, particularly lower down the pyramid to receive that income which is their lifeblood."

The Premier League and EFL will hope to reach a consensus at their meetings later this week on the best way to proceed.

West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady raised the possibility of declaring the 2019/20 season null and void in a column for The Sun over the weekend.

This course of action is likely to suit some far more than others.

If disagreements do persist, two-thirds of the Premier League's clubs - 14 - are required to agree to any constitutional change.

But Kinnear is hopeful clubs will consider what is best for the integrity of the Premier League and EFL as a whole, rather than acting in their own interests.

"There is obviously a danger that self-interest will play a part but I have actually been refreshed by the fact that most of the football family are looking at safety and health and well-being first. That is the main priority," Kinnear said.

"I think if we focus on that, then try and maintain the integrity of the league by getting back to playing at some stage then that is probably the main priority."

Premier League: 30 April restart date to be pushed back

The restart date for the Premier League will be pushed back on Friday.

All 20 Premier League clubs will meet via video and it is accepted by all that there is no hope of professional games being played immediately after the current 30 April deadline.

The Premier League could shift the date back into May or opt to follow Spain and France, who have shut down their leagues for an indefinite period.

Italy have talked of Serie A returning in late May, but that seems optimistic.

Pushing the date back would allow Premier League clubs the chance to offer their stadiums and medical staff to the National Health Service, knowing they would not be required in the short term.

That would at least correct some of the negative publicity that has accompanied news that four clubs, including Tottenham, are already using the government's furlough scheme to compensate laid-off workers by up to £2,500-a-month, despite their players and manager Jose Mourinho, some of whom earn in excess of £100,000-a-week, remaining on full pay.

Talks between the Premier League, Football League and both the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) and League Managers' Association (LMA) are continuing, with clubs expected to be updated on this at Friday's meeting.

Explanation for the delay in players accepting pay cuts or, more likely, wage deferrals - including the fact they are financial assets of their clubs in addition to employees and have watertight contracts which, in some cases, expire on 30 June - has cut little ice with many within the general public and also some politicians, who have made their displeasure clear.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe and Brighton counterpart Graham Potter have both taken the personal decision to accept significant cuts without waiting for any central directive from the LMA.

Talks about a resumption are also anticipated, when the prospect of games being played behind closed doors, potentially in a limited number of locations, will be discussed.

Training grounds have been mentioned as potentially hosting games, although it is difficult to work out how this would be a safer environment than stadiums, which, evidently, are built to host matches that, by definition, need to be broadcast in order to avoid the £750m repayment to TV companies that would be triggered by a failure to complete the current season.

That such a scenario has even been discussed underlines the overwhelming desire among Premier League clubs, which remains to complete the season in its entirety.

However, Premier League sources are equally adamant nothing will be agreed that places any unnecessary strain on medical resources at a time of national crisis.

Even in a sterile environment it is acknowledged how bad it would look for the game if a player needed hospital treatment for a broken leg at a time when significant numbers of the general population were dying of coronavirus.

So, alternative options are being discussed, in England and across Europe.

Insiders at European football's governing body Uefa have confirmed that places reserved in next season's Europa League for domestic cup winners would revert to league positions if those tournaments were not completed.

The Belgian League has become the first to declare its season over, although with 29 games out of 30 in the regular league programme already played, effectively it has abandoned the play-off system that should have followed and is seen as a special case.

Of more consequence for the major leagues is the massive financial hit taken by Ligue 1 after their domestic rights holders Canal+ and beIN Sports confirmed an intention to withhold the latest payment, which was due on 5 April.

Should France, Italy or Spain close their leagues down for the season, that is likely to have far reaching consequences for the game given, together with England, 16 out of the 28 teams remaining in the Champions or Europa Leagues come from one of those four countries.

An estimated £1.6bn has been wiped off the value of Premier League squads because of the coronavirus crisis, according to a football statistics website.

Transfermarkt calculates a player’s value using a variety of data and the aggregated estimates of site users.

It predicts a widespread drop in prices, with Manchester City suffering the biggest loss of around £225m.

“The stock market prices collapsed,” said site founder Matthias Seidel.

“Many clubs could be threatened by insolvency and transfer plans come to a standstill because of the many uncertainties.”

With the coronavirus crisis likely to cause a sharp drop in revenue and therefore put a lot of team’s transfer plans on hold, the site believes there will be a knock-on effect with transfer fees.

It has cut 20% off the value of players born before 1998, with those born after 1998 seeing their value cut by 10%.

This is because the value of players aged 22 or younger generally holds up more than older players, therefore teams who have a lot of key players aged over 22 are likely to suffer the biggest drop in value.

Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling, 25, is still valued as the Premier League’s most expensive player, but his price has dropped by £29m to £115m.

In total, City’s squad value has dropped from around £1.1bn to £917m.

Premier League leaders Liverpool have lost the second largest amount, with an estimated £205m wiped off the value of their players, including the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk.

Norwich City are estimated to have suffered the least losses, with their squad value dropping by £21m £119m.

That is primarily because a number of their most valuable players - including Todd Cantwell, Max Aarons, Ben Godfrey and Jamal Lewis - were all born after 1998.

That pattern is followed across football's other major leagues, with Transfermarkt estimating around £9bn has been wiped off the value of players globally.

Will transfer fees drop in reality?

Though these figures are estimates, the prospect of transfer fees dropping significantly as a result of the coronavirus pandemic is likely.

Transfermarkt conducted a survey of more than 300 people from the football industry, with more than 70% stating they expect the crisis to have a significant impact on transfer business.

“The current global cut (in transfer fees) is a reaction to the extraordinary general situation, in light of which it can’t be ruled out that a further cut has to be made in a few weeks,” added Seidel.

“At the moment, it is difficult to imagine that transfer fees will continue to rise as they have in previous years in the foreseeable future.”
