Tendulkar Includes Five Indians, Leaves Out MS Dhoni from His World Cup XI

Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has named his favourite XI of cricketers who played in the just concluded edition of the World Cup.

Tendulkar's XI, led by Kane Williamson, includes five Indians -- Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah. However, he did not include wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni in the XI.

Rohit and Jonny Bairstow are the two openers while Williamson comes in at number 3. Kohli is set to bat at number 4 followed by all-rounders Shakib Al Hasan, Ben Stokes, Pandya and Jadeja. The three pacers in Tendulkar's World Cup XI are Mitchell Starc, Jofra Archer and Bumrah.

Earlier, the ICC had also named its World Cup 2019 XI in which only two Indians -- Rohit and Bumrah -- were able to make a cut.

Tendulkar's World Cup 2019 XI: Rohit Sharma, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Kane Williamson (c), Virat Kohli, Shakib Al Hasan, Hardik Pandya, Ben Stokes, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Starc, Jofra Archer, Jasprit Bumrah.

A great cricketer is not necessarily a great analyst of the game. This goes without saying but some people need to be reminded. Mentioned this because some people are quoting Sir Viv’s praise to defend specialist captain.

Anyways, ex-Indian players are rarely able to let go of their bias. Pandya and Jadeja are definite NOs and Kohli is a big maybe.

Having said that, I can’t think of any great performances by a spinner in this WC or from a number 7 so maybe that’s why Tend went with Pandya and Jaddu.

KL Rahul , Dhoni , Chahal, Kuldeep, Bhuvneshnar, Dhawan, Shami unlucky to miss out..

great batsmen but as small a man as his height

No wonder he was such a clueless captain. Max you can have Rohit, Bumrah (not sure) in the XI and Jadeja as 12th man (greatest fielder of the modern era IMHO). Kohli and Pandya will struggle to get in the 3rd XI LOL.

Nothing personal, but I've watched television analysis by Sachin Tendulkar quite a few times and he is really poor.

I'd heard that he had such a great cricketing mind and all that, but it seems he can't put any of it into words.

Rohit and Bumrah were def worthy but where did the legend get the others from?

I don't think this is poor analysis on Tendulkar's part. Just feel it is cheap nationalism.

I feel Tendulkar is craving the love he used to get on the big stage. The love is there but the big stage is gone.

Lol!! Bumrah is a certainty in every expert's pick. That dude was just unplayable at every phase of the game. Rohit obviously being the highest scorer. He then went ahead and picked Pandya to up the Mumbai Indians count to 3. Kohli was a patriotic pick and Jadeja was the emotional SF pick.

I wonder why no one is picking Warner. He scored just 1 run less than Rohit. A left right combo at the top would be a devastating lineup

Dumb list, and probably just as biased from him as acknowledging hockey instead of cricket on the day of the champions trophy final two years ago.

To be honest with you, I would pick Roy over Rohit. Roy would've probably surpassed Rohit had he played all games.

I agree that Warner should be in instead of Bairstow.

Lord,so incredibly biased.Did somebody tell him that its not supposed to be according to the population ratios?

Lol Sachin has always been a petty man. Not saying this due to this but generally.

During his career it was on record in how he was incredibly insecure about his height.

And now in retirement he almost always forgets to post when india loses but posts about random events otherwise. The cherry on the cake was when despite being at CT final he posted a congratulations not about indian hockey winning some random game and skipped commenting on the final.

Bairstow was picked for his keeping. There is no other keeper in his list. My question was in general as nobody else picked Warner as well. Roy would've should've doesn't matter. He didn't and Rohit was the best batsman in the tournament until the SF

Yes, however Rohit was dropped quite a few times. So his innings was not chance less.

lol what a pathetic selection 🤦🏽*♂️ Should’ve added 6 more Indians & maybe squeeze Shakib in😎 only Sharma & Bumrah make my WC 11

This shows he never possessed a great cricketing mind.. just the best ever natural talent.. there is a reason he never went past 250 in a innings in 200 tests too... just YouTube some of his analysis it’s cringe stuff.. clueless

Not sure which is the bigger troll by the great man:

Upsetting Pakistani fans
Or
Including Kohli but naming someone else captain.
:ua

Teenda has never been sporting towards Pakistan. Babar Azam had a better WC than Kohli

LOL!! At least he didn't pick his MI boy Rohit as captain. Kohli had a terrific tournament except for the SF. He looked like he was playing on a different pitch against Eng, WI, AFG. Smashed Starc and Amir and had big knocks in both AUS and Pak games until he gave himself out. Was rubbish and totally bamboozled by Boult in the SF though. He's still the No.1 in the world by far but needs to address the ODI choker tag to protect his legacy

Tendulkar, Great cricketer but too biased , that has been his problem. Kohli, Pandya and even Jadeja :))

I find funny the petty mindedness some posters here share with tendulkar.
It’s not just Pakistanis who are shocked by this XI. Any fair person (even Indian) would find this list worthy of a waste bin.

This guy is biased beyond belief lol

I still remember he’s Hockey tweet after Pak thrashed Ind LOL

Great player.

But seriously no room for Lockie Ferguson & Jason Roy ?

Pandya & Jadeja in the XI ?

Tendulkar being, well just Tendulkar. Unfortunately, though he received tremendous amount of praise and love globally, his cricketing outlook till date remains very local.

You'd think India have won the WC, when you look at that XI :))

I am sure Hardik and Jadeja themselves will feel surprised their names are there, particularly Jadeja who played 2 matches. Kohli has done well but not enough runs, no real centuries and failed in the Semis. This team doesn't even have anyone who kept in the world cup.

Not just non-Indian fans, Indian fans find it pretty ridiculous too.

Great player alright but very much biased. Rohit and Bumrah only 2 Indians who can get into the WC 11.

Either he is clueless or he Like other Indians speaks to please RSS...
He selects Jadeja on the basis of one match...
He makes Bairistow as wicket keeper, a person who has not keep gloves in this whole tournament...
He keeps kohili in the team and kohili in this World Cup was outperformed by many....

Tendulkar trolled 20 Million people :))

Bold of you to assume that anyone had their sentiments trolled by this statement except maybe the six Indian players who played the world cup and weren't part of this team

if the intension was to pick a team that will not win the world cup then he picked the right team :sachin

and he isn't trolling anyone. He's just losing his credibility with this questionable selection. From the looks of it, it looks like he didn't even watch the world cup.

Who's the wicket keeper? Bairstow? Did he even keep wickets in the world cup?

He wanted to pick Malinga but wasn't sure if Mali would play for Mumbai Indians next year. Instead, Jaddu was picked to troll Manjrekar.

:))

Always been clueless whenever put in a position of decision making or leadership.

Sachin knows how to rile up padosis. :smith

We’re not like Indians on the internet. If this was a Pakistani including so many Pakistanis the comments from Indians would be absolutely hilarious. Just like the dislikes on all time 11 videos where Indians aren’t included. I don’t really care tbh.

I would personally have Jadeja in my team.

My XI would be:-

Rohit
Warner
Williamson(c)
Root
Shakib
Stokes
Carey(wkt)
Jadeja
Starc
Archer
Bumrah

I guess due to lack of a spinner who has done well in this WC.

Almost all XIs I see here have three No. 3s, where two are playing out of position.

I personally believe that Root would do better at no. 4 than a no. 3. He bats at 3 for England due to the depth but I feel he is more a no.4 than a no.3. It is just one of those things, as Kane says.

Shakib again, he has batted at different positions and I personally do not believe that in a world XI, I would want to have an all-rounder like him bat at 3.I will have specialist batsmen taking the 3 & 4 position and then all-rounders coming after that.

I think he forgot to add himself, sorry to say but Sachin during commentating is full of himself. He talks less about the game and more about himself, selfish lad.
