Day 3 was a much better batting display by the Shaheens.

They now have a lead 286 with 1 wicket left courtesy of Fawad Alam and Rohail Nazir's centuries.

Will this total be enough to defend and can they bowl NZ A out?

Wonderful bowler Matt Henry. A pity he never got a consistent chance in their test side. Reminds me a lot of Bond.

Would be a great boost for the entire squad if Shaheens could pull this one off.

New Zealand A are 58/3 at Lunch in their chase of 298.

One wicket apiece for Amad Butt, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Abbas.

They should’ve declared after they got to about 260 and had 10 overs to spare. I could see this being a draw, should’ve pushed for the declaration.

Why? There's no points at stake. On the other hand any time the batsmen get to spend in the middle is immensely valuable

NZ A 5 down now
Naseem Shah has 3
Looks like he's beating the batsmen for pace, two lbws and one bowled

Shaheens within sight of victory in the 4-Day game against New Zealand 'A'; NZ A are 200/9, needing 98 runs to win; Naseem Shah has taken 3/44 and Amad Butt has 2/34

PAKA 194 & 329

NZA 226 & 208

Pakistan A won by 89 runs

Well done shaheens very good batting by rohail plus captaincy Rizwan should not be anywhere near the team

Still not sold on Ammad Butt tbh. This was basically our Test Attack playing alongside him right now so unconvinced that he is someone who can hold his own at the Intl Level just yet.

Amir Yamin on the other hand, doesn't even get a look in

Aamir Yamin on these New Zealand pitches would have made these young Kiwis dance around the kookaburra. It's such a shame that the best swing bowler in Pakistan isn't even in the National squad and the bonus is his batting he is a better player that these Butts and Ashrafs.

Life can be a bit unfair at times and Yamin is the one who is experiencing it.

Remember on day one when Pakistan got out cheaply and people were predicting an innings defeat? Lol Pakistan has the best fans.

Amad should be a shoe in for the first test now with six wickets in the game.

Amir Yamin is likely the unluckiest Pakistani cricketer along with Fawad Alam and Sadaf Hussain.

What is Yamin averaging this year in QeA trophy or last year for that matter? I can't recall any notable performances of late apart from his innings a few days ago.

He is a very good new bowler. He is 30 so expect him to make a debut 4-5 years from now.

Question related to Aamir Yamin, I think new selector Mohammad wasim will give chance to him in south africa series.

LOL @ Sohail Khan, couldnt get much wickets - hope this stops Misbah from selecting him. Congratulations to Rohail and rest of the team though. Proud of the boys! Well done.

The Pakistan Shaheens have this afternoon closed out an 89-run victory in their sole first-class four-day match against New Zealand A in Whangarei.

New Zealand A had been chasing 297 for a win at Cobham Oval, after BLACKCAP Matt Henry started the day by claiming the final Pakistan wicket to finish with a haul of 6-53 off 25.3 overs, wrapping up the Shaheens' second innings on 329.

However, by tea on the final sweltering afternoon New Zealand A was left fighting to stay in the contest, needing a further 153 runs off 41 overs with just four wickets remaining.

Naseem Shah (3-44 off 12) had ripped out the middle order, before Ammad Butt sealed the victory late in the final session to finish with 3-38.

The touring Pakistan A side now plays a series of T20 matches against the Northern Knights (4pm, 27 December at Seddon Park), Wellington Firebirds (2.40pm, 29 December at the Basin Reserve) and Canterbury Kings (2pm 1 January 2021 at Bert Sutcliffe Oval, Lincoln) as New Zealand's premier Domestic T20 cricketers get ready for the start of the Dream11 Super Smash on 24 December in Wellington.

It seems like somebody has been on a burger, pizza and doughnut diet.

Yep. A very good swing bowler. Probably the only bowler in Pakistan who will swing the ball every single match, if given the new ball. The sort of bowler who can give you an early strike or two. He's a much better batsman than A Butt or Ashraf, too. Really is unlucky to be playing in a country with dunces in charge.
