As for Malik, this was a usual day for him considering it's against India! But I so wanted Afridi to hit that last six, would have given him so much confidence

IMO, Shoaib should have been the Man-Of-The-Match. We almost messed up the chase had it not been for him and seeing us through to victory. Though Hafeez captained and played a very good knock also.
 
Fantastic innings under pressure from Malik.

Took his time at the start, then worked the singles, then cut loose. In addition his running between the wickets was brilliant.
 
If you give mediocre cricketers so many chances over 3/4 years they will now and then will come good.

However today he did his job so well done.
 
Shoaib Malik: "We were struggling when the debutant bowler, I don't remember his name, took those early wickets".... Nicely dismissed the guy.

no it was only shoulder height,not above head

He wasn't lucky, the ball to Hafeez was also over head, so that was on for the over, so the ball to Malik was over shoulders so fair enough call from umpire.

It's good that you never became umpire :)

Only one ball above shoulder is allowed, second will be called no-ball
Hafeez out on 17-1 and 17-4 was the second high ball and hence called no-ball.

dont think it can be termed as lucky as one for the over was bowled when hafeez was caught, so this clearly was a no ball
 
I think that Malik should have been MoM...
maybe Indian panel didn't like him winning the match for Pakistan.

Well, the ball to Hafeez was the 1 bouncer for the over.. then he bowled another to Malik so it was a no ball because you can't bowl more than 1 per over
 
Great knock today by Malik.

His frailties against medium/fast bowling were not exposed today but then I guess that's why he performs against India.

Anyway lets hope he continues to flourish under Hafeez's captaincy
 
I have always maintained he's a good addition to our T20 squad. Rubbish ODI and test player, but his selection in T20s makes sense.

Top knock from him. Brilliant under pressure.

What a way to get into some form.
 
Credit where its due, :malik Played a great knock today. Good stuff from him and hafeez. He still has short ball issues though but except for that he was terrific. :19:
 
Shoaib malik must be added to ODI squad.

He is not in odi team. Best we have got when it comes to play spin. He always performs against india. Our best fielder and a handy offie. He must be added to the odi squad. Your thoughts...

Great performance from malik, should be in the odi team as well and the next odi captain after misbah retires.
 
its not coz of his batting today , but in odi balance is lacking a allrounder who can bowl 5 decent overs , so yes we need him
 
I would have selected Malik over Younis Khan

Is it not possible for Younis Khan to pick up a mysterious :quote: injury :quote: and return home?

Tbh he was once a good ODI player too. If he can somehow maintain the kind of form he showed today, you never know.

After hitting a marvellous innings, these three above comments show how this guy simply hates Malik. 11 players go out to play for Pakistan. If you don't support one of them, don't support any.

Malik has played a gem of a knock today under pressure. May he do it again and against - Insha'Allah.
 
Not yet. But I'm open to the idea, IF he can produce a couple more of good knocks. At the end of the day, he's always been good at rotating the strike, something we usually lack.

Yes I wanted him to be in the odi squad originally.. I hope he gets the entry. He plays very well vs india.

He's a pressure performer, not the most talented and has been out of it for a while, but something about playing India does wonders to him.

Against India perhaps but honestly he just doesn't have the basics to play decent pace bowling...

Says the biggest Misbah hater BUT I agree SS comments were poor today. Malik played fantastically. Well donbe!
 
I praised his innings in good ten posts. Saying that was no ball does not mean it was against Malik. Malik had played beautifully and if we had lost it would have been down to Kami. What people don't understand that we want Pak to do well and who ever is not deserving a place will get criticism.

I am a huge YK fan but he has no business in the ODI squad because he has been poor in that format for last three years.

SS... ignore the kids.... they got this chance after 3 years and 51 innings. Who knows when the next decent innings is going to come. :P

They are Malik-lovers... we are Pakistan team fans! Both of us are appreciating Malik's contribution to Pakistan win.... hope he keeps doing that ... and stays in the team because he deserves to be in the team... not because of other reasons for which he stayed in the team even with 3 years (51 innings) of pathetic failures.

when was the last time BZ and his cronies said ONE good word about any other Pakistani player contributing to number of wins that Malik could do anything about for last years?

So.... let's celebrate Pakistan win...!!!! :)

I don't hate Misbah actually. I think he's a very fine test player and he's one of my favourites there.

I don't want Misbah to play ODI cricket but I support him when he's batting as I want him to do well for Pakistan.

Misbah is a good guy but his ODI batting sucks.

well hafeez left things hanging..
and hafeez could not provide the support to players on other end.

hafeez played good, but malik won us the match.
 
Fair play to Malik did an excellent job today and won the game for us. He deserves the accolades he has received today.

However, I am still by no means convinced he is our messiah. He struggles as much as anyone against half a decent pacer. Was beaten on numerous occasions by Ishant Sharma and was lucky not to face more than a couple of balls from Kumar.

Sad thing is all our batters are cannon fodder for half decent Int'l standard pacers
 
Good win today, but does not eliminate the torture of the past two years.

Its like someone beats you up for two years and then loves you one day. Can't just forgive them like that.
