Good to see Malik continuing his great batting record in england, why does this joker keep being selected?

Baring India, Malik averages 28 with a Strike rate of 74. He has a plus 40 average only against Hong Kong. In last 4 years, baring India, he averages 16 with a strike rate of 65. Even in won games, he averages a pathetic 19.

Inexcusably horrible stats. And he has batted at every position from 2 to 7 still fails. No more comments :zoni

He was very good at number 3, averaged around 40 but was inexcusably dropped down for Younis who himself was a poor ODI player.

But that's the past now and Malik hasn't helped his case either.

It's Misbah's fault. There weren't enough overs left with Malik batting so low. He has been wasted.

2nd greatest ODI player Pakistan has EVER produced.

Now that we've got that out of the way. How can his selection ahead of U. Akmal, H. Sohail and A. Shehzad be justified?
 
he is married to an indian who wears mini skirts? maybe thats why he keeps getting selected! i'm at a loss at this moment in time!

So then why doesn't he contribute in every other game, so that Pakistan can win at least 50 % of matches?

His last couple of innings vs respectable opposition are:

0, 28, 19* , 4, 35 *, 19, 5, 24, 34 *, 23, and 7

Facing Sunil Narine FIRST TIME in his career, team is 5 down, he decides to go down the track first ball ? This is the experience and so called "Best-ness" of 214 ODIs that he's gained? Bakwaas.
 
Malik is still a better player and captain than Imran Khan ...

That has been the best run of form he has been in years too.

he just saved pakistan from a demoralizing defeat in previous ODI
He should be batting at #3/4 and no role at #6/7

so its not the responsibility of #6/7 player to save the team all the times...

IF TEAM relies so much on malik to save them then misbah should have given malik a chance to bat in a warm up..

nothing about 77+ avg?

Are you serious? Why should we look at the stats in the won games? how many games have Pak lost when he hasnt scored?

He should be scoring when the team needs it the most. He was required today and he didnt deliver, like many times before this.. you are a unique tool my friend.

Seriously. Malik is not the worst player representing the countr6y, but people have to realize that he is eating the spot for a younger guy. i.e Hammad, Haris Sohail, Umar Amin or etc.

Its just criminal to keep this below avg guy in the team.
 
showed again how much sufarish he has , Worthless batsmen only knows to play vs india

Malik is so pathetic, that If I was the head of his family, I would've disowned him unless he stop playing for PCT.

The few matches that Pakistan won recently (~18 months), all (but couple) because of Malik.

if you want to win more, let him play up at #4 as captain...

we have seen that Hafeez, Azhar, Asad, Amin can't play up...against any half decent attack..

and even Misbah/YK score quadruple century Pakistan will still lose...

(I hope that in ext match he plays for himself ... tuk tuk ...with the SR of 40-50 and go for personal milestones)

1. We beat Afghanistan, with 50's from YK and Farhat but according to you we won because Malik didn't bat.

2. We beat India thanks to an unbeaten century from Nasir and a 50 from YK but according to you it was due to Malik's 34.

3. We beat India again, thanks to another century from Nasir and a 70+ from Hafeez but according to you it was due to Malik scoring 24.

4. We beat South Africa with 10 overs to spare, thanks to our bowlers. Misbah scores an unbeaten 50, Hafeez 31, YK 32 but according to you we won because of Malik's 35.

5. We beat South Africa thanks to Farhat making 93 and Misbah 80 but according to you it was due to Malik's 19.

6. We beat Ireland thanks to Kamran's 81 and Wahab's 47 off 35 but according to you it was due Malik's 43, his highest score in three years.

But I can't forget these two innings:

We beat England in Manchester with the score at 166/9 and Malik smashing an unbeaten 189.

And of course that final in Sharjah against India, where scored a brilliant 116* and ended it by hitting the last ball for 6.

when malik came...match was already lost...
kami and wahab played well and contributed to win...but it was malik's inning that shaped our win.

Oh and his innings did not contribute to our loss yesterday??
The argument that you present is quite pathetic to say the least.The match was not lost at that point.If he had just scored 15-20 odd runs we would have won that match easily considering what happened in the end.

Malik is better than Wahab Riaz, Ajmal and Umar Gul.... in batting. Even Afridi has better Ave, much better S/R and 2 more 100s and 5 more 50s than Malik.......

Shows you the dire nature of Pak batting. Yea id still have Malik over Akmal in my team. For the big games atleast. Akmal is a sure choker/misfirer in such situations.

Only player in the current team capable of winning a match. Can't remember the last time we won without him.

According to BZ, this was due to him batting so low.

I have to agree, he only batted in the top four in 7 of those innings. Otherwise he would have averaged 70 rather than 7.

Just as a comparison.

Murali, the legendary off-spinner but woeful bat, averages 9.75 in England.

And we are playing him as a specialist bat.
 
Farhat, Kamran and Malik should never have been selected

I would have gone with Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal (wk) and Razzaq or Hammad

He is in good company. There are some legendary bowlers in that list.

I wonder who would be left if we took away those with 300+ international wickets.
