Well bowled leathers well bowled

I wonder if this is the longest thread created in the history of threads to debate a point - over 7 years. He does divide opinions but well played against Zimbabwe.

They batted him too low today, I have no idea why. He is best suited to the no.3 or no.4 position

Only in Pakistan that happens.

India would hve backed an in form Malik to smash Zimbabwe out of sight at #3, maybe even as opener.

That's why India are a better ODI team then us; so much better at nurturing talent. It's almost as if he got demoted for performing well

The delusion is strong. :mv

I hope Haris Sohail can carry the dead-weight of his "mentor" throughout the series against Sri Lanka and, God-forbid, he might even have to do it against England. He's a quality player unlike Meek Malik and should be our #3 batsman.

Malik made Haris Sohail. No Shoaib Malik no Haris Sohail. He was his apprentice in the Sialkot Stallions, and Malik raised him from a young 13 year old who couldn't hold a bat to the youngsta prodigy he is today, on his way to become one of the best left-handed batsmen of all time.

It's sad how people bash Shoaib Malik on this site, despite all he has done for Pakistan cricket. People need to seriously re-evaluate their morals here and swallow their pride and praise the young Sialkot born warrior.

He is the one batsman from our country who has stuck it to the Indians whenever it mattered while the other batsman wet their pants at the sight of grand trundlers Nehra and Balaji. His 129 was awe-inspiring, even the greatest matchwinner of all time Inzimam praised that innings and said Malik was undroppable. He was right.

I think Haris Sohail's approach reflect Malik, Rest i feel in batting and technical point of view he had backing of some good coaching

Not sure if this is sarcasm.... or you are a big big Malik fan.

You're talking nonsense. Watch how the Indians treated equivalents of Malik? They're all dropped and rotting away for good.

Yuvraj Pathan brothers gambhir uthappa.. Need I say more?

That's why the Indians are batting powerhouses. Players that come in KNOW that if they fail they are out and they won't get a recall in a weeks time. That and intense competition for places, hunger for runs..

All of which our players lack.

Who needs runs anyway, few tweets and selfies and you're a star.

Bump

Malik became the first player to score 5000 runs in T20 cricket #true.pyjama.champion

Such a massive underperformer. Bashes these domestic leagues like no tomorrow, but under international pressure isn't the same batsman. It's so frustrating.

Because international bowlers are slightly better than domestic bowlers 👍

Did you miss our last series?

Was Zimbabwe, not exactly the strongest team and was after 6 years of failing. And in a strong position after the openers gave him a great start.

I'm talking about his career in general. If he did as well as he does in domestic, he'd be considered Dhoni level. His career stats and performance really don't match his ability. In the last five or so years he's arguably even improved as a batsman in terms of shot making, ability to calculate chases, hence we saw this in domestic. However when he was given international chances he flopped, he just couldn't put those skills to use.

Even does well against the international standard bowlers in domestic.

Think it's more a mental thing tbh. It's baffling how someone that good, has been so bad for the last 6 years or so. He's been a tailender literally, think even Afridi has done better with the bat in the same period. Hopefully this last series is a turning point.

Comes in with his team struggling and straight away smashes a 6 and then 4.

I hope he can score big in his last game for the Tridents iA.

Such a quality LO cricketer.

Great guy as well.

Shoaib Malik should be the batting role model for upcoming PAK batsman who want to learn how to play limited overs cricket correctly.

Currently 39* against a quality international bowling attack.

3 150kph bowlers( Fidel, Roach & Shanon)

& international spinner in Nathan McCullum.

Highest scorer of innings. Rescued team once more.

Good to see he is in form. He will have a job to do in SL with both bat and ball if Hafeez is banned from bowling.

Leading run scorer in first CPL.

Was leading run scorer in most of second CPL till last few game. Still ended up as 2nd.

Currently leading run scorer in third edition, but is leaving.

lol..

yet another 50.

Unbelievable knock by Shoaib Malik. PAK are blessed to have him/

He will make us qualify for CT.

Solid T20 player. Also Shehzad really has grown his beard in your DP

Once again comes in and is playing beautifully.

I am relatively sure he will win us the series against Sri Lanka.

Wouldn't have supported him before but he played well against Zimbabwe and doing really well in CPL. He will do well in atleast 2/5 games vs.which is good enough.

Another superb performance by Malik. He could end up being the next Misbah and playing for another 7 or 8 years.

It was pretty obvious that he would make a comeback once seniors like Misbah, Younis and Afridi are sidelined.

Not going anywhere for the next 3-4 years.

Hope wasimjunior and miandadrules are okay after this Malik special. They were wrong about Shan and he proved them wrong, and now wrong about Malik. Keep it up guys. You are the real MVPS :)

People with a bit of cricketing intelligence will know and understand that Malik is a special limited overs cricketer.

In the last few years, he had looked kind of disinterested, but this time around he looks determined to play for Pakistan. Good for the team, it's always nice to have a blend of youth and experience.

On song, he can manage any chase for Pakistan in limited overs. Solid knock today, but helped massively by Hafeez scoring aggressively and keeping the pressure off him.
He needs at least a couple of big performances more in this series to cement his pace.

Shoaib Malik's stats since his comeback

Since the time Shobby made his comeback into the Pakistan side for the series against Zimbawe, his stats have been outstanding. Following are his numbers:-

Matches:10
Runs:415
Avg:69.16
50s:2
100s:1

Still people say that he does not belong at International level anymore!
P.S. Even his domestic performances during this time have been in the CPL and not in our domestic circuit where he is inarguably THE KING!

How in the world is it 10 matches ? He's played 3 ODIs and 2 T20's since his comeback, but yeah, good performances so far. Needs to keep it up.

I'm devastated.

He has scored when nobody else did.

That too against a lethal bowling attack on a minefield.

Or he is making hey on flat surfaces against weak bowling line ups when the batsmen before him have made significant contributions.

Shobby's the MAN.

Gracefully finishing matches. Something Pakistanis never did well.

Same game when that "liability" hafeez out bowled and out batted anyone else...

Congrats to you pal ..

And last time I checked Shan still averages only 30 in tests.. Maybe it's your intelligence outside of cricket that ought to be checked

That has been the story of his career, but if can keep doing this he has a place in the team.

Despite all the excuses Malik fans make about about his victimisation, very few Pakistani cricketers have been given the preferential treatment that Malik has.

He was a number 11 spinner when he started and was played in dead matches here and there to gain confidence. Then when the team played on flat surfaces he was given chances to bat higher up the order.

Then when given the captaincy he was given 10 homes matches against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

Now, on his return he is given a run against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and transitional Sri Lankan side all on nice benign surfaces.

However, each time these honeymoon periods have ended the house of cards that Malik built comes crashing down when the winds of reality hit. Yet, his fans will continue to harp on about those initial starts.

Better inclusion compared with MYK. should have definitely been taken to the world cup ahead of younis

If i remember correctly he himself opted out of the world cup. He is a very very smart guy. He knew pakistan would crash out of world cup and people would be calling for heads. Yk wasn't smart enough to realize that but malik was. He prolonged his career by opting out.

Not a big fan of Malik, but this post is in rather poor taste. Bordering on paranoid imo
