Better then his 300 in cape town?

that was in a test. This was a great innings because he paced it so well. i mean the fact warner came over and congratulated him after he hit that amazing reverse swept six twice was something..

still cant beat his triple against warne and mcgrath at perth..

Malik has done better in Aus than I expected from him. But yea when you do not like a player you will bash him anyway. Malik is not the future but ain't the problem either at the moment.

It's almost like we Indian fans have felt in the past when our selectors persisted with that no-good, worthless Ashish Nehra. Although no player can be worse than Nehra, not even Shoaib Malik or Ishant Sharma.

he's the only 32+ year that should be in Pakistans ODI and T20 setup

He's consistent and efficient as a batsmen and an excellent fielder

The way he took on Hassan Ali for 17 runs... he smacked all of them right out of the middle..

I've criticized for always succumbing to pace but this a welcome change in his batting from Australia.. his ability to hit out faster bowlers...

Wahab Riaz wasn't spared today either from his big hits

the knock that literally changed the scenario...

also,

Sohail Khan's maiden was something to remember...

Afridi played a gem.

What a player Malik has been since 2015 in the LO games.

Yet he never gets credit for his crucial knocks in the middle overs.

majority of people voted they don't want Malik for the World cup, I'd rather have him in the side and drop Umar Akmal
he has scored with good strike rate in both formats plus his experience is vital for the team in general.

FYI, the poll in the thread was about WC 2011 (which was held in India)
Malik was "banned" by Ijaz Butt and Afridi did not want Malik in the team.

and we all know the outcome.

FYI there was another one and I was talkin about that "Should Malik be in the plans for the 2019 WC?"

Is this the longest thread in PP history, if not it must be in the top 5 or 10? Just goes to show how loved Malik is. :)

It's funny because 60% of the posts are probably from the likes of Black Zero and miandadrules who have two very different opinions about the guy... :))

Second longest. The movie thread has the most replies.

Wrong.

Lightning Hawks CC team thread has the most, which is closely followed by the Big Cats team thread (though I think that got deleted :)))) shaz619 kingusama92

Both of you wrong, it has been the pro-wrestling thread :))) the old one got deleted and the new one is still in the top 10 lool BC thread was most posted for a long time, lil hawks jobbers were only on top for a short white :afridi

Good knock from Malik, needs to play these match winning impact innings at the international level; least we can expect from someone who has played so many games for his country

go at the top of this page and open your eyes you might see it

Sorry, earlier I could not see it from my tablet.

Title of the poll has been modified very recently, however votes were not cleared so you can find voter who has not logged on for years.

This poll contains votes for WC 2011, 2015 and now it would for 2019.

the title has only been changed, the votes are absolutely the same

Looking through this thread and I said this all the way back in July 2010:

You should know how things work by now.

Whether or not a collapse is the fault of a captain depends strictly on the number of friends he has in the media.

Plus ça change... :yk2:misbah:azhar2:afridi1:sarf

The fact that the poll is so old got me wondering, so I tallied up the number of black (banned) usernames.

Pro-Malik votes: 19% banned
Anti-Malik votes: 17% banned
Unsure votes: 20% banned

There we have it, clear proof that the only thing the mods hate more than Malik fans are people who sit on the fence.

Malik after 2015WC has been a different player altogether.
It has been some turn around for him.

Shouldn't be getting this much heat that he gets. Yes he's a limited player but doesn't change the fact that he still is one of the best in LOI's for Pak. Better than the likes of Hafeez, Umar etc

Gets too much hate. He is in the team on merit.

Good vs spin, can rotate the strike well, good runner between the wickets, has good fitness levels, good fielder, and gives us an option with the ball.

Shoaib Malik keeps being amazing as Pak's backbone. How does he keep doing it since 2015? He is really important for this limited overs team.

Because he is Shoaib Malik people will keep criticizing him while he is there on merit.

I think most of the hate comes from his utter failure international run in 2014, one of the reasons we lost the T20 World cup that year.

He's been above average lately though and deserves the spot without a doubt.

He gets hate because the man has largely been the epitome of mediocrity since 1999, so nothing he does can make up for all those failures in their eyes and anything less that a good enoigh score every game will be met with immense criticism and to an extent you can understand why when you add up his international appearances. That's not to say he has not justified his selection in recent times but nor has he set the world on fire to point where we we should write poetry about his performances.

This is expected from him to be the top scorer of the Match. (Though he has been sent low in batting order once again)
He is in high demand in premier t20 teams for his performances.
In last two years he avg 50 in t20i and sr of 120+ in wins.

Dropped early on by Gabriel. Won't get such chances against better sides but fair play, he has cashed in afterwards. Let's see how he does against better opposition in Champions Trophy.

52* off 36.

Played over covers against 144kph Gabriel. It's a myth that he is not good enough, He is very reasonable player.

Hopefully whenever he retires, Retires on a high.

More stomach ache for the haters.
lol, I am with you.

Malik is opening up old wounds for some. There was a time when Pakpassion was divided by one individual captain S Malik. I wonder what they would say now. A splendid 50 with a SR of 139. Well done.

Sad day for Hawkeye when Malik and Sarfaraz score at SR of 140 and 150 respectively

The only Pakistani middle-late order players who can reliably hit a few boundaries.

Imad Wasim cannot - Lets give Shadab a go!

Best innings by far by any Pakistan batsmen, despite having a dropped chance

Excellent knock today, we really needed that injection after Hafeez sucked the life out of the innings.

say what you like but Malik v.2 is atleast not selfish.

cant say this about some other seniors like Hafez, Younis, Misbah, Afridi, Shehzad

he is batting too low, if Pakistan want to score more, he needs to come at #3 or #4.
with too many openers in the teams, it's hard to bring Malik up.

As I mentioned b4, problem isn't good pacers of top teams, problem is the pitches outside asia, he'll hit all the top pacers for big one's if inside Asia

Between the two, there's room for only one of him or Hafeez. Not every day will there be low, slow spinning wickets..whenever there is, Malik is among the best in the world. However most of the time, it's flat tracks where Malik and Hafeez both would be liabilities. I'd pick the one with more of a heart and who actually acts like a senior wit experience.

Watched every single delivery he faced today and have to take my hat off to him.
Absolutely top notch against spin

there is no question that Malik is a superior and more selfless player than Hafeez

No doubt. Malik is a brilliant player of spin (one of the best in the world) and he has proved his mettle against the best ever spin bowler :).

There are few Gems in page no. 137, 138, 139 & 140 .........

My little tribute to Mian ....... :)

Won't mind seeing him return to the Test team after the retirement of Younis and Misbah. He will do well in Asia. He has 2-3 years left in the tank, should be milked.

I guess we can persist w/Malik for bit longer but Prof despite his 81 today gota go. Malik has a strong case of staying in the team with 58 avg. at a SR of 101 last 2 years.

The Shobba Stopper in good form prior to first game in the CT against India:srt

He retired, Malik is a very dignified lad and man of his word

aaj khush tou bohot hogay tum?

very nice innings by Malik:malik

Could return if requested. He retired on a high for the team and Pakistan carried his senior Iftikhar in his stead. If the team management request him, he will probably return. Few better plays of spin in the country, and we are not going to tour England, SA and Australia for a while.

Well done Malik, the best player on spin by a mile and always has been great runner between the wickets. Thing is Malik has played with and been guided with players like Inzi Yousuf and Younis. They were not big hitters but were great at finding the gaps, rotating strikes, running singles and doubles and building partnerships. Malik is needed in this side to guide the youngsters before he retires too.
