Shoaib Malik Support & Performance Watch

Should Malik be in the plans for the 2019 WC?

Well with the performances of Haris Sohail one batsman has to leave from either Hafeez or Malik. The worry I have is that potentially we could see Faheem getting out of the team to accommodate both of these two.

He should retire ASAP.

His track record in ODI's in Oceania, SA, and ENG (WC 19' says hi) is noted for being consistently poor.

He is a beast in T20's but the next WC is in AUS. The last tour to Down Under reveals he has only one shot against pace: dab to third man; that often ends as a thick edge to a wide slip.

The time is sooner than later but knowing PAK seniors, they'll ride the check for as long as they need not a walker.

First Pakistani Batsman to hit 2000 international runs and now stands at 99 games played internationally will be the first player ever to reach 100 games internationally as well

Good perfomances.......... against minnows so far. Let see how he does against the top teams.

Another superb performance by Malik. At this rate even the Great Khan bhai will change his mind and finally love Malik.

I remember when people use to make fun of him scoring doubles and then he actually did that in his comeback Test :))) poor guys, Malik has been ruining their sorry lives for decades.

Lmao I remember that. And the excuse became that it was in UAE so it doesn't count.

That was a superb knock and he took a few wickets in that game to, his haters were like this trying to come up with excuses:

I think in recent times the sentiment towards Malik has become even more negative due to his marriage with a very beautiful woman, too many insecure folk about. Malik needs to tone down his alpha appeal.

He's become such an important part of team in the last 18 months

Even better than his performance is his attitude - just compare Malik with Hafeez...

he needs to go, but yes he has surprisingly performed somewhat against a non minnow team.

Shoaib Malik has just become the fourth batsman, after Chris Gayle, Brendon McCullum and Kieron Pollard, to breach the 8000-run barrier in Twenty20 matches.

When he hit Ashley Nurse for a four to third man in Guyana Amazon Warriors’ Caribbean Premier League 2018 game against Barbados Tridents on Sunday, 12 August, Malik joined an elite group of outstanding T20 batsmen to reach the milestone.

Runs Batsman Matches/Innings Best Average Strike Rate 100s/50s
11,575 Chris Gayle 337/330 175* 40.75 148.32 21/71
9188 Brendon McCullum 338/333 158* 30.62 137.97 7/48
8225 Kieron Pollard 424/381 89* 29/80 150.17 0/41
8034 Shoaib Malik 317/297 95* 37.54 125.17 0/47

Malik went on to score 38 as Guyana lost by 30 runs, their first loss in the competition after two wins.

Gayle, the pre-eminent short-format batsman in the game, former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, and Trinidadian all-rounder Kieron Pollard are the ones to have reached the landmark before Malik.

Gayle is well ahead of the rest of the pack, having crossed 9000, 10,000 and 11,000 runs in the format and showing no signs of slowing down much, while McCullum and Pollard are as active in the T20 league circuit as Malik is.

The achievement of Malik and, especially, Pollard is quite remarkable, as they have never been opening batsmen. Malik has been a No.4-No.5 batsman for much of his T20 career, while Pollard has usually batted even lower.

As a result, neither of them has a century in the format even though Malik got within one shot of it when he scored 95* in a match for Sialkot Stallions against Peshawar in Pakistan’s Super8 T20 Cup in May 2015.

Malik is also one of only five batsmen to have scored over 2000 runs in T20 Internationals, and is third on the list of highest scorers with 2121 runs, behind Martin Guptill (2271) and McCullum (2140).

Shoaib Malik plays every T20 tournament in the world. If there was one being held in your neighbourhood he'd be in that as well!:)):)):)) He is obsessed with T20 Cricket!:razzaq

T20 legend - the cricketing world and his hardcore fans such as the Great Khan :) will miss him when he's gone.

As Shoaib Malik always portray himself as a selfless patriotic guy so after failing against Zimbawe he should voluntarily leave cricket if he can't score in Asia cup and let a youngster take his place in all matches till world cup.

Kher I don't have any expectations from him scoring in England anyways so better if management realize it and kick him out before its too late.

Ill never ever forget his triple hundred at Sydney. Dont you remember that video Warney released where he went into the Pakistani changing room to chill with Malik after Malik had hit him for three sixes to get to his triple?

Still remember the time when Moyo went to ask for help to prefect his cover drive and openly thanked Malik..great times..

He more than anyone appears to have benefited from the Arthur years, fine tuning his batting to become a very good LOI player.

I honestly believe he should open with Zaman at the WC, lefthander/righthander, Malik has the tools to score a lot of boundaries in powerplays, without being cavalier.

No Doubt..his technique against fast bowlers in england is a thing of beauty. Its no wonder Kohli went to see him and they had a masterclass session with Malik showing him how to counter anderson..what a legend..

Hawkeye Pete Rose the Great Khan

It is what it is, he got two chances today and this is the best he can do. If India had bowled shorter to him earlier, he wouldnt have lasted this long.

Well bro, he's the worst thing that's plaguing our batting side since 1990s.

I don't think any other cricketer from the 90s is playing anymore in intl cricket. The sad thing is PPers love him lol!

He came to bat at 4 today. If he can’t bat at 4 then there’s no place for him in the team.

It's very easy saying that but we have to look at our resources and be honest with ourselves. If you wanna replace Malik with Talat or Amin you're only going to go down even further.

Shambolic running. He should have and could have easily made his ground.

As usual Malik being comfortable in Asia against Asian sides.

He will be tested in SA. If I were him I'd be faking an injury in order to prolong my career till the WC ala Hafeez.

He is not going anywhere till the World Cup even if he gets out for golden ducks throughout the South African series. He will play the World Cup on his terms and retire gracefully.

Honestly speaking, I cannot justify his exclusion from the team at this point. I don't see who can replace him.

He started off well and save the team fron collapse. But failed to make up for the chances he got through dropped catches by a bizzare run-out.

His career record apart from his performances against India is highly mediocre though.

And he averages only 10 in England. So this doesn't help the cause as next year WC will be in England.

Malik sahib is just doing what he has always done..somehow riding through based on some weird past..Azhar ali should be in this ODI side, especially on these slow pitches..he gives us much more in the batting..Just feel we should have had him in the squad at least..Malik is a rubbish player ..just follow this thread (yeah it'll take you a year but hey..lol)

Well done Shoaib Malik!!

saved us from a lot of humiliation. what a champ knock under pressure.

Okay serious overreaction and knee jerk............but he's pretty damn good in nail biters

He is the GOAT. The undisputed absolute GOAT. Shut up and Dont tell me he isnt because he is.

Oh I thought you meant in the current team or last 10 years.
Lol drfen below Inzi and Miandad.

the Great Khan can add this legendary effort to the list he maintains on his living room wall

Yes, he is.

Seems to have learned a lot from Inzi during those earlier years. Uses some of the same tricks.

he's been a beast since his comeback in 2015 - total team player, fantastic professional

Need to start bowling as well, that will serve for the offie requirement. If he wasn't retired, against 5-6 Aussie lefti, bringing him back for Test wasn't a bad idea.

Malik has been our best player in chases for a long time. But he is not an Afridi or a Razzak that would be able hit 20 or more an over. So has always needed some explosive help from the other end Ali, Nawaz and Hassan did the trick for us today by hitting a six each as otherwise Malik might have needed to attack earlier and get out.

Oh Malik, he still got it.

Always feels good when you see a hard working guy winning. I admire his work ethic and the way he carries himself (on and off the field).

Classy guy. Would hang out with him :)
