my guru oscar says that The truth is rarely pure and never simple.

the difference is not 17 point even we adopt your simple model. (hint: 10/11 point difference)
and that's not a proud position to be in for a legend who's batting at #3 and "talent-less wonder who batting at #7)

1st position 6
4th position 1
5th position 2
6th position 10
7th position 5

I try my best!
but truth is not an easy thing to find, you have to dig deep and dig hard...

and still it wont be pure.

Let me ask you this.... are you a male?

P.S. You want us to guess the impurities in your answer or you are going to explain them yourself?

dont trust cricinfo (trust me), here's the list of innings.
#7 6
#6 15
#5 2 (but not in same test)
#4 1
#1 10

Strengthens my point 28 out of 34 batted in top 6. Four not outs but still averages 16.7 below the great man who batted at 3 behind two jokers most of times.

answer to this question is not related to "truth" its mere info.

Is this info or truth with impurities?

first thing, it's 10/11 point difference
second played 60%+ at #6/7
Third played 30% at #1

Period Mar 5, 2002 to Jul 25, 2009

here are the numbers for different positions so you can imagine batting at different positions.

#1 37.92
#3 45.67
#4 44.41
#5 41.33
#6 34.64
#7 29.55

How is it 10/11?

i thought you didn't like counting minnows (BD/Zim/and current SL)

Where and when did I call SL (the World Cup Finalist and team ranked higher than Pakistan) a minnows? Truth with impurities, I guess??

So, was that truth or info?

sincere congratulation of having your personal thread....

ranking is based on 3/4 years span...thats why most ppl do not take them seriously...(high time the revise the system)

I am not suggesting that SL is minnow like bd or zim, still minnow nonetheless (they haven't won much recently so defeating them should not count much)

It is not correct. I don't think it is 4 years. can you provide a link.

"5. What period does the table cover?
The table reflects all Test series completed since August more than three years ago. All Tests series completed prior to next August will be
added to this table, so by then the ratings will be based on a full four years of results. Then, in August, the first year of results will be
dropped, so the table will then cover the past three years of results.
This pattern is repeated each August, with the oldest of the four years of results removed to be gradually replaced with results of matches
played over the following twelve months. This means that once a year the positions could change overnight without any new Test Matches
being played."

Cant believe hes playing again! What the hell does he have to do to get drppped??? If only young batsmen like asad got opportunity after opportunity like SM has been doing!

Shows how much confidence we have in Malik, Afridi is sent in before him. I think Malik is in the team as a specialist bowler?

Think afridi was sent out before, as there's few runs left, so if Afridi hits a few and gets out, we can rely on a proper batsman coming in to finish the job. Makes the total more managable. Would have done the exact same thing, if there was a better batsman than Malik playing at Malik's spot.

Trouble is, these days you'd have to say Afridi's batting is more reliable than Malik's. So not sure it was actually the right choice.

But if anything, it shows faith in Malik's batting. That's the way I interpret it anyway.

The fact sarfraz, Afridi were sent in before Malik pretty much shows Malik is some sort of novelty selections and nothing more then that!

We dont need him in the side and would be better of picking a proper batsmen instead!

The quicker we drop Shoaib Parchey Malik for Fawad Alam the better for the Pakistan team. Getting a couple of tailenders out doesnt warrant you a place in the team

Today was ideal opportunity to get Malik out there and give him a chance.

But he has a known history of being reluctant to bat high and I will not be surprised if management asked him if he wanted to bat higher and he refused. A good cricketer takes the initiative to be given a chance, and Malik isn't.

His mindset right now is prolong his int'l career as long as possible rather than fight to perform.
Right now, hes in the team doing nothing, the 7th bowler and no.8 batsman

Bowling better then AFridi!
He wasn't looks like it :D.

It is strange though. His better suits, batting and fielding seem to have decreased dramatically since his comeback (especially batting). His weaker suit bowling which has been on the wane in later years (so much that he increasingly shifted from all rounder to specialist batsman) actually looks better than has for some time. Still it's irrelevant, as Hafeez who occupies our fifth bowling slot is better anyway hence Malik's part time spin isn't really needed that much.

I do not think his bowling is improved.
all spinners performing well on those wickets...

3/4 is the correct answer...as rating period starts is aug...so rating period...could be from 3 to 4 years...

you were quick in announcing "incorrect"
so
you shud have courage to accept your mistake.

"In 2008, media reports in Pakistan surfaced that Malik has married Ayesha Siddiqui, a woman from Hyderabad, India, on 3 June 2002. Malik denied these allegations saying his marriage plans with the woman did not go through, because of a lack of consensus between both the families.[31] In April 2010, Siddiqui's family released Shoaib-Ayesha 'marriage' certificate (Nikahnama).[32] On April 2, 2010, Malik said he plans to sue Siddiqui's family for "indulging in character assassination".[33][34][35] On April 7, 2010 Malik confirmed his marriage with Siddiqui and signed the Talaq (divorce) papers.[36]
On 12 April 2010, Malik married Indian tennis player Sania Mirza in an Islamic wedding ceremony at the Taj Krishna Hotel in Hyderabad, India[37][38] for a mahr of 61 lakh (US$137,500).[39]"

why do not you guy visit sm marriage thread ..it got all the info...and i have around 500 posts in that thread...

So when somebody CALCULATES the ranking ...... they plug in 3/4 and the formula knows HOW to react ... because the math I studied.... 3/4 means (THREE DIVIDED BY FOUR) not 3 or 4 years???

Why??? What is the point of great information? In what response???

^^ Yor just acting like a 4 year old again.

You said..... 3/4 .....

If 4 is correct then you were lying and you were wrong becuase you also said 3.

The reason I said four was incorrect becuase of this;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICC_ODI_Championship

actually its you who had no clue about it...i said 3/4 and you responded its not 4 years...and you asked for link...and as i said it was 3-4 year period...

by the way, you denied few weeks ago, (when ss started asking qs about yk's rating)

and then you denied few months ago...

good that you were proud ignorant and now proud denier..

Malik looking pretty good, so far. Hopefully he gets a good knock in today and cements his place into the team.

Easily our best player of spin.

He's out for 17 trying a cheeky stroke, but looked good when he was out there. 17 (20).
