Sohail Tanvir as captain in ODI/T20I?

You guys must be joking. Just a random good performance and he is projected as the next captain. The fact is, he has failed miserably for the last 10 years or so and is a liability in the field, remember he can't bat as well. The only reason he is still playing T20 is probably because Afridi likes him, otherwise he is one of the worst players to represent Pakistan ever.
 
Rubbish bowler & fielder. He should stick to his T20s leagues. No need for players like him in international cricket.

I'm a hater and don't want him but I have to accept he gets into the t20 team becuase everyone else is crap as well

Still this guy is as overhyped as it gets, can't bat , can't field, shown himself to be a selfish captain domestically and he doesn't even take a wicket game despite his supposed t20 pedigree

He is fortune that Gul lost form and everyone else is as bad as him

We need to replace him with Amir who is better than him in every department.
 
He's a good 1 out of 10 kinda bowler. But his fielding is a liabilty and always has been. Awful player, all-round.

Riaz is miles better and always steps up during World Cups. You would need to replace your own brain with Tanvir's to have to think about who to pick between Riaz and Kukroo.

Amir, Riaz, Irfan, Afridi and Zafar/Yasir should be our five bowlers in T20s until after the World Cup. We do need a sixth bowler as an insurance policy so one of Haris or Malik (:facepalm:) will have to play.

This is the worst thread I have EVER seen.Sohail Tanvir barely gets into the T20 team yet some wanted to make him captain
 
i'm hoping for Sohail Tanvir to retire as soon as possible. it will be the best gift from him to the team.
 
for those who question his utility, only Nuwan Kulasekara has taken more wickets as an opening bowler in T20 than Tanvir.

He can swing the ball and is threatening up front. Has great variation, and is great at the death. Been really good for us ever since he came back against the WI in 2013. One bad game doesn't change anything unless you're extremely fickle.

Can tonk the ball a bit too.

Don't think Tanvir could manage being captain of a tape ball team.

Can't bowl, no control even at this stage of his career
Can't field, drops sitters too often
Can't bat more then 2 overs.
 
LOL, did not read any posts in this thread but REALLY? 11 pages for Tanvir to be captain? Today, I have seen everything.

just forget him. inshallah he will not be in T20's again.
 
Tanvir has done this for the rams now he is doing it for Pakistan, costing us games

the question is why the hell they are allowing him to, its not like Shakeel Sheik is sitting in the dressing room giving orders

If you actually, intelligently, watch him captain the Rams, you'll notice he actually captains them well. He's very good tactically and generally isn't flustered. People always hold onto that incident where he promoted himself above Hammad, while the reality is that 90% of the time Hammad comes in earlier, sometimes at 4.

But let your hate blind you.

I guess you were busy texting some of your 'Genius' friends like you when he was dropping catches like a fool, or losing Pak couple of matches in this last year alone with his idiotic sense of timing, and in these last 3 T20's as well, and let's not even go there with his supremely idiotic batting; one shot to the leg and nothing else?

Come on, there is a whole ground that one can play shots in and score runs and yet this aik saal ka hero is still stuck in 2007 mode! Yeah let's hit everything to leg and win the game, well teams have him figured you out since 8 years back and yet his meter is stuck in the same mode

His batting is occasionally useful. Don't expect him to win you matches very often. He got us close a few times.

He has dropped a few catches, okay, but that doesn't mean he should be dropped! A couple below par games doesn't change anything, he's still a fantastic T20 bowler.

Pakistani fans are so fickle. After the first T20 of the series, everyone was calling him our best T20 bowler, and look at the state now. :))
 
^^^He is at best a domestic hero who will bowl good in a match in Int'l level only to be butchered in next 3...plus the fact that he is a huge liability with catching (this adds 20-30 to the target in many cases and we usually loose by less than 10 so figure it out how bad his catching turns out to be), not to even forget his insanely bad ground fielding (batsmen usually always target two if the ball is going to him in the deep, no matter where he is)!

Coupled with his unique and bad sense of timing while batting, he wants to hit sixes when all we need is singles and misses anything on off or outside his zone...I think that is a lot of baggage to take either way you look at it!

oh really a domestic hero? Sohail Tanvir has been the best Pakistani fast bowler in T20Is for last 3 years. Most wickets, best economy..

Sohail Tanvir would easily make into the Pakistan's ODI team as well. He is a way better ODI bowler than Anwar Ali or Irfan. He is better batsman than leg side hack Anwar Ali as well.
 
Sohail Tanvir is not as bad as he is made out to be but he isnt as good as he is made out to be as well. Currently, tanvir is on bad form and due to fickle nature of many posters, they are on a bash-a-thon mode against him. Not surprising.

Never liked Tanvir he's terrible. I can't believe our fast bowling lineup consists of Irfan-Anwar Ali-Tanvir-Wahab. :facepalm:

No he is a useless player because the lapses he has in the field (dropped catches and bad fielding all through the day)...more than negate for any world class bowling he might deliver and his bowling numbers are decent at best anyway. Pak T20 numbers look bad because most of our bowlers have been in and out or retired/banned. There has been no consitent bowlers in the team except Afridi or Ajmal (not anymore as well).

And the mind blowing stuff he does while batting, not able to put bat to a ball on off or farther, cannot play any decent ball more than tapping it back to bowler except that leg side flick/hoick is just unbelievably poor for a guy who has been termed sort of an all rounder!

And for those saying he has been out of form, bul.l, he has been like this with his batting and fielding all along, it has been the only consistent thing in his armory all along!
 
It makes me really sad that Pak cricket has hit such lows that a player like Suhail Tanvir is not only supported but is considered a future captain. Can it get any lower?

Sohail "Swing and a Miss" Tanvir

I think he has missed more then he has hitted, amir should had batted above him.

This swing and a miss destroyed lots of careers of Rawalpindi rams players, such as Jamal Anwar, Hammad Azam; He would hog there batting positions come up the order and swing and miss, today he did something similar, although he wasn't captain
 
Massive blunder by not sending Usama.Mir ahead of Bangash.

Usama is a striker and would have won the match. Sohail Tanvir also always wastes deliveries.

Should be named as Sarfraz's deputy, and hopefully he can be groomed within 1-2 years.

Novelty factor, he does well in his first year in every league he has been to and then becomes horrible when players adjust. Same thing happened in international cricket , no performance after his first year

In all seriousness shadab played under Tanvir in list a, he never bowled out his ten overs and never batted higher than Tanvir

Tanvir is a bad guy, you have to be to do things like this

Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

This guy should never play for Pakistan even though he has been doing a decent job in T20Is.

The passion, fitness, motivation etc. is all lacking and he's cause great harm to Pakistan cricket by playing with careers. Hammad's career is the best example.

Pindi had four good bowlers in their squad during 2011/2012.
Mohammad Rameez, Nasir Mali, Sadaf Hussain and i dont remember the name of fourth. But Tanvir alsways played because he was the captain. Also it was so frustrating to see him not giving full overs to Rameez and Nasir (who were mostly in the playing X1)

Shocking. Should have been banned for a few matches as well as hefty fine. 15% is just slap on the wrist
