India were shocked by South Africa in the 1st T20I but will normal service resume for them today?

South Africa have won the toss and have opted to field

India (Playing XI): Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan

South Africa (Playing XI): Temba Bavuma(c), Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen(w), Dwaine Pretorius, Wayne Parnell, Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje

Wayne Parnell. That's a name I haven't had in a long time.

Only Indian TM is capable of playing Avesh Khan ahead of a guy like Umran.

Kishan is playing really well and hitting some proper cricketing shots. No ugly shots at all like some other dudes play these days. :inti

Shreyas struggles to score at all vs pace. Not sure how he is gonna survive in England final test. Batting at 12(15).

Pant in and we will have spinners bowling now, this is gonna be fun!

Kishan is a hack...that wicket was always on the card. Actually, SA bowled poorly at him and gave him hit me deliveries.

Anyway, here comes the real deal - Rishab Pant.

Iyer won't play in England now that Pujara is back. Vihari will play at 5. I'd personally prefer Gill

White ball cricket still a big issue for India and has been so since 2013.
No clear thought process or selections etc.

Not necessarily. Iyer has performances in tests backing him although those were in India.

South Africa are smart, they know Pant, Iyer and Pandya all loves to smash spinners so better get some overs of Pretorious.

Iyer should only play Tests and ODIs in the subcontinent. But knowing our TM, they'll surely take him to Australia for the T20 world Cup.

As I said, that is the reason why they were trying to hide the spinners. Teams might as well go with 4 pacers and 1 spinner vs India.

Saw him coming and threw it wide, knowing Pant would swing at anything. Great from Maharaj.

Pant has been such a disappointment in this format. Always looks like he is confused between attack and defense. Feel like we are wasting a crucial spot in the middle order on him.

Have been saying this since ages but Pant fans are hell bent on making him a batsman which he is not in T20. Just look at his T20 stats for a start. :inti

Pant should open in t20is.

Why keep the best cricketer in the world at no. 4? He should play most number of balls.

Iyer is a spin basher, he is not like Pant and Pandya who are good vs pace and spin both.

Simple, change his position.
Opening would be nice

Thing is Iyer actually stays at the wicket to bash those whereas the other two you mentioned don't stay that long to bash bowlers. Iyer has an average of 38 and SR of 138. Pant on the other hand averages 23 with a strike rate of 126. :91: :inti

No thanks. KL, Kishan or Rohit are good enough for that position. Simply drop this hack from T20 team and play someone like Suryakumar Yadav. We don't need so many wicketkeeper batsmen in the same playing XI. :inti

Pant is difficult to drop , he has very good reputation. In Subcontinent selectors hardly take strong decisions.

Pant should open in t20is.

Pant is probably the most talented cricketer in the world.
He will figure something out, remember he along with Kohli were the only two who offered a fight against Pakistan

What a poor knock from Iyer, creates pressure on Pant and Pandya by scoring at less than run a ball and then got out himself before taking the team close to a good total.

I think Iyer is only suited to ODIs, he is not good for T20s.

Oh here comes the word "talented" again. :uakmal He has already played 45 T20Is. How many more games will he need to figure something out lol? Hoepfully TM will figure something out before Pant does. :inti

Pant is the only left hander in this batting lineup, how can you drop him? Did any of Rohit, Kohl, Rahul, Iyer said that they gonna bat left handed??

DK's record at this level is deplorable. Dont know why Indian selectors are keen on recycling this massive TTF. IPL form means nothing at this level

He is a 360 degree batsman and a replacement for SKY except that SKY can bat in middle order too, DK is designated for finisher role only.

Iyer's SR in this inning : 114
Pant's SR : 71
Pandya's SR : 75

What stopped Pant and Pandya from scoring runs and taking singles lol? Always blaming others for Pant's and Pandya's failures. Now that Dhoni is not in the team, Iyer has become the new scapegoat for hack's fans. :91: :inti

150 could be a winning score here if Indian bowling line up is good. But they selected trash again. Bhuvi, Harshal and Avesh give me creeps.

112 runs what is a good score on this pitch for india to defend, I think South Africa might win from here.

Are you alright today? Or are you even watching the match lol? Kishan is a left hander too. :inti

Haha..lol..quoting like a attention seeking loser. Kishan is an opener, it is not same as middle order and he is technically not as good as Pant. Bring in next! :inti

DK finally getting the rythm. But 140s doesn't seem to be enough imo.

148 is what India finished up with, but on this pitch with this indian bowling line up, is it enough for them to defend, vs A strong South African batting line up

Not enough. India does not have a match winning bowler. They are all one dimensional and bowl at gentle pace.

The only loser here is you because you are commenting without even watching a match. You said Pant is the only left hander in this batting lineup. This batting lineup also includes Kishan. Stop embarrassing yourself further. :91: :inti

If we lose today, we should bench this whole bowling attack barring Harshal today and play all of Umran, Arshdeep, Bishnoi and Hooda for the next 3 games.

If India has played a full strenght bowling line up would they be able to defend that total on this ground, it seems like a low total for this ground, I think if they had full squad maybe they can would give them a better chance. We never know maybe this bowling unit can cause an upset.

Umran and Arshdeep should have played from Game-1. They both are different variety and bring the much needed variety to the bowling lineup.

One Bowler I think India needs to try and back is Bishnoi, I remember seeing him in u19, he is top quality bowler and should be persisted with. What happened to Tyagi, i do not see him in Indian line, he looked good in u19 as well

Assuming this is a normal t20 track:
I can understand you nibble at the bowlers failing to defend 200+, but the target today is not easy to defend. The batsmen should be blamed today if anything and had it not been for Karthik cameo in the end India wouldn't even reach 130.

U19s? Many bowlers look like Mcgrath and Wasim at u19s. No bowler have looked better than Anwar Ali at that level for last 22 years, but U19s are u19s for a reason. Had the above mentioned players performed in IPL, I can understand your arguement.

Bishnoi is a solid bowler, im not an indian fan but he is quality. Tyagi, i was just asking about him because I havent seen his name in Indian squad. u19 level does not mean thier gonna always gonna make it to senior level, or that they will succeed in senior level, but its the stepping stone to becoming a national player.

Their is also example of players who excelled in u19 and went on to play international as well.
