Babar just messed it at wrong time, 1st hour will be crucial if Pakistan cam survive unscathed they will get confidence , how about shall Khurram departs early send in Jamal to whack a few

It is almost certain Shan will throw his wicket away in the morning, he got the hundred expending every single fibre of his being, it would be a nice surprise if he can press further & get a daddy hundred because the team will desperately need him in the morning session especially. The others should make best use of the platform raised for them and all eyes on KG, Saud & Agha especially, the rest may as well be some chaprasi tailenders.

Zimbo has done his job to an extent.

Shan should get that double hundred like ryan rickleton and 4ft saud has to get a hundred as well.

Shan will get a big hundred. He needs to sort out his front foot play not keep getting trapped neither back nor forward

Pakistanis rarely get 150+ about twice a decade. Normally when they are 100 overnight get out early LBW in the morning seen it so often.

An innings defeat is on the cards.

Don’t be fooled by a few batters scoring.

They will fall down like a pack of cards tomorrow.

This test team cannot win anything overseas.

That's Pakistan Test teams since the 1950s apart from the odd Test in England or NZ. Overall we are a poor Test nation. I'd say 4th or 5th at best historically to now.

I think there are about 32 overs or so before new ball is available. This means no new ball before lunch which is a positive.

We have Khurram who isn't supposed to last long. That leaves Shan, Ghulam, Saud, Rizwan, & Agha. We still trail by more than 200 runs. Extremely challenging no matter how you look at it. If we don't lose a cluster of wickets & reach till lunch then the new ball challenge will be presented. Tire the bowlers & hopefully it's a hot day so they do not have a lot of energy to attack with the new ball if the game goes that far.

No margin for brain fades

Overall yes, but we at least used to do well in some countries. Eg England.

Hard to trust the Pakistani batting lineup but a 150+ lead might be interesting.

It's going to rest on how far Shan takes his good form here.

Modern era Asad shaifq should we say? Score right when your head is going to be on the chopping block.
Asad Shafique was much reliable than this lad... especially in Test cricket.. u can better say Mohammad Hafeez of Modern Era lol

what an innings shan maqsood played . Brilliant hundread. People questioning him his captancy ,batting and sacking. He silenced all critics.

A 28-29 avg test batter who has decades of experience followed by losing every single test game since he became captain excluding 2 games vs Eng due to Aqib's interference shouldn't be questioned?

Their have been 20 t9 25 avg batters who have scored centuries in test before. Doesn't make up for the fact that they've been rubbish.

Shan is a talentless individual and a parchi selection. The people who praise him are clueless, however one valid point about shan is that since he became captain, He's ironically outperformed babar at every turn in tests.

Goes to show how far the Fake King has fallen.

Don’t get too impressed—this century will likely be followed by at least 10 failures.

Shan Masood is a prime example of how talented players struggle at the international level due to mental blocks. He looks solid while he’s at the crease, boasts an incredible domestic record, and, unlike most Pakistani players, is comfortable on the backfoot.

Yet, he always seems to find a way to get out after 20 or 30 runs with soft dismissals.

Had babar not fallen and they stayed till lunch today I might have dreamed in think they will collapse to 350 odd

Time for shan Masood to show why he shouldn't be kicked out from the team.

He has to save this test and fight till the last over.

flat deck : Pitch Report | Mike Haysman: It has been a really good track to bat on overall. The batters have had a good time while the bowlers have had to toil hard. There is an area around the 5m mark from both sides of the stumps where the cracks are opening up but it's not a lot. There are some footmarks especially on a length for the left-handers and Maharaj can exploit that if he bowls a little bit quicker through the air. I still think the track is still absolutely fine for batting. It's a new-ball pitch .

Can Pak get to 500 ?

Khurram shehzad should play his shots. If he could get 20-30 runs more it would be bonus.

Lol what's he even trying to do.Just play so ke shots and get some runs.

Shan thinks his job is done after getting that century.
He doesn't look convincing out there.

Batsman need to settle in before they look convincing takes good 10 overs in tests.
These 1st 10 overs will decide whether he plays big or throws it away

I don't understand why we can have a concussion sub but not an injury sub? During COVID there were even COVID subs. You question the common sense and logic that goes behind making some of these rules.

Lol Abdullah Shafiq wouldn't have made any difference though.

The close call by Shan might be a bit of a wakeup to better his concentration.
I seriously cant believe he's played 40 matches with an average of 30. Must the worst average with minimum 40 matches.
I still somehow still want him to succeed.

The nightwatchman departs. He looks disappointed like he was gonna score a century.LOL.

Khurram Shahzad as night watchman has done his job pretty well at least more than I expected from him.

Is Kamran Ghulam gonna continue with his brain fades or for once be sensible and play a decent innings?

Jansen to Ghulam does not inspire alot of hope. He has gotten him from that angle before and feels like its only a matter of time before he gets him again. Ghulam struggles to cope with the extra bounce.

Ghulam needs to play with some brains here. There is a mountain to climb. You gotta be very careful with your shot selection and judgment here.

shaan is also struggling i think with ball reversing now i think it is game over i am afraid

Both batsmen looking super dicey.

Shan looking circumspect against spin and quicker bowling. SA utilizing the reverse swing well.

Shan should be kamran's nightwatchman lol.

He should protect him but who is gonna protect shan.

Every Pakistani batsman should be allowed a nightwatchman. They need those desperately.

Because there are examples in the game where a player looked like they exaggerated an injury only to sit out and let a better fielder take their place. (Said sub may not have been very good at bowling or batting but be an excellent fielder). Ponting in the 2005 ashes being a case in point. Regularly got run out by an excellent fielder placed under his nose for exactly that reason. Also relevant there were occasions where a bowler like shohaib would bowl 5 overs and go off with injury but come back to bat and swat away in a carefree manner.

For certain tears and sprains you just don’t know. For instance if SAIM is injured and they allow a batter to take his place abdullah who makes a big score or noman who gets a 5 for (both unlikely) South Africa will feel aggrieved. It’s a really stupid rule when the injury is obvious

Shan Masood been trying his best to throw his wicket. He needs to be patient.
Try and save an innings defeat
