Congratulations to Rabada!

Who needs quotas? Here is the son of a doctor and of a director of a government department, who went to an elite private school.

If anything, he should be placed in the white quota!

Brilliant bowling.

Alhamdulillah, Moeen Bhai unbeaten in the end.

Brilliant stuff by rabada and Hashim amla. Two stand out performers.

I don't think anyone has taken a 13 fer at 20 years of age.

Amla is back in his supreme form , bitter haters are finding it hard to believe. They thought amla is finished for good.

I wish some people can look past his beard and judge him purely as a batsman but wouldn't that be an ideal place.

Just checked the score for the first time today. Bless my soul! Bowled Rabada. An ATG in the making!

Englands batting in the Ashes, UAE and in S.A at times has looked fragile as a unit.

Cook and Root are the two main batsmen, the rest are way to in consistant across series and because of this england will lose test matches against any opposition, the batting will need to improve if they want to become a dominant test side.

Yup, pretty tough to lose 0-5 and alienate your best player :14:

Yes, it is. Losing your best player, spinner, wicket-keeper and another main batsman in Trott all of a sudden with your own form not great and have the whole country criticize you and side with your best player who got ousted is certainly very difficult and it takes tremendous mental strength and self-belief to fight it out.

Cook could have surrendered at that point but he didn't, and he steered England out of that disastrous period and now they have reclaimed the Ashes and beaten the number one side away from home. This is true leadership and that is why I respect Cook as a cricketer a lot, and have similar respect for Clarke and Misbah for captaining a weakened, unsettled side and bringing stability.

Now compare it to Amla. As soon as the going got tough and the team got unsettled, he chickened out because he doesn't have the heart to lead. If Amla would have been in Cook, Clarke or Misbah's situation, imagine how meekly he would have surrendered.

I knew has no heart, but to this extent? No.

He definitely has made life miserable for his fans on this forum, who are desperately attempting to make his act of cowardice look honorable. :))

Should I give more value to the opinions of the ex players who have praised Amla's decision to step down or some loser on the internet who hates Amla because he has a beard? It's a pretty simple choice.

Ex-players have to be politically correct; I don't.

A piece of advice: learn to form your own opinions, if you have the capability to do so.

If Amla didn't have a beard, would you still be calling him a coward? Honest question.

Yes, honestly. So far, problem hasn't been Amla but his fans. However, the way he ran away from responsibility was extremely disappointing.

Amla was a terrible captain and him staying on as the captain was only gonna harm SA but I do think he should have relinquished the captaincy after the series and not in the middle of it.

Your opinions are invalid because you hate South African cricketers and Amla in particular.

I think it's almost the reverse you.

You have a blind chauvinistic love for Amla and South African cricketers.

Both ends are extremely wrong.

Don't like overrated bowlers.

Anderson is not overrated.

He has a good skill set which is suited to swinging conditions.

He is not an ATG, but a great bowler to watch at times.

I don't know why you would hate him.

His skillset only comes into play with the Dukes ball.

Yes as I said, he is a swing bowler, and he needs swing to do something.

I really don't think it's the balls, but the type of pitch that is conducive to swing.

He is limited on other pitches, and that's why He will never be ATG.

But then, who claims he is ATG?

Bhajji had a 15-fer. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63921.html
Hirwani 16. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/29299.html

Rabada has the best figures for any pacer aged <=20.

4 of the 9 ten-fers by pacers under 20 are Pakistanis. :waqar :wasim :zahid

You have the same hate as Mamoon. I don't like South African cricketers any more than players of other countries. Amla is an exception.

However, my opinion is matched by every single expert worth his salt. Mamoon's is only supported by you.

Knowing our luck by the time SA tour next summer they will have steyn philander rabada and morkel fully fit, i want some Viljoen and morris pies instead.

Don't like overrated bowlers.

I think most english fans know jimmy isn't a truly great bowler, he is devastating in the right conditions and now solid but unspectacular when the ball isn't swinging.

Key difference between this older anderson and the younger version is he doesn't get thumped at 4 an over anymore when conditions don't suit, if he isn't taking wickets he is at least economical for the most part.

It's something our lot still struggle with in places like england, if they aren't taking wickets they just can't keep it tight, it's either a bag of wickets or 4+ an over, not getting belted in conditions that don't suit is a skill even if your bowling figures might now show it.

Every expert knows Amla is a good test batsmen and choke batsmen in ODI.

You pretending otherwise, won't make him different.

How much do the England performances have to do with Cook? And How many of SA's problems have to do with losing Steyn and Philander? That is like losing Jimmy and Broad. The going has been tough for Dhoni over the past year and he retired midway through the Aus series. Would you call him a coward as well? Remember Graeme Smith caused the resignation of 3 England captains iirc. Were they cowards? This discussion won't go far as everyone knows your hate towards Amla, so let us leave it here.

Amla is a great batsmen. But a failure as captain. He is a weak leader. That's it.Just can't understand why there is so much debate on this nowadays.Let's just move on.

His arrivals coincided with the end of the mental exhaustion process which has affected every England captain since Gooch in 1993. They all burn out. It's the culture.

Cook hasn't burnt out yet. He has the support of the ECB with the comments about his family being the right one and all that.
