This is where Kallis is a huge miss. People use to say he only use to get a wicket or two, not match winning spells. But those 1/2 wickets were match winning wickets. Now they have no extra bowler to relieve the workload.

They're playing McLaren who is a better bowler and who's to say Kallis would have gotten them a wicket at this stage? This isn't the first time the Saffers are bowling flat on a flattish pitch.

Philtrundler showing all of his skills. 120 kph, wide and a half volley. :yk

Just want to see Mitch blow up South African top order here. What a feast it would be!

aussies in total control here. This is looking bad for teh saffers.

and steve smith continues to confound me. He just doesnt look like a cricketer yet somehow makes runs..amazing.

Brilliant by the 2 batsmen I rate highly. Marsh I knew was class, just needed time and a good run away from injuries. Smith is just getting better and better.

In reality SA have a history of starting series slow but hitting back strongly the day after its AUS day for sure but i wouldn't count against Philander and Steyn cleaning up Aus for 400 tomorrow

SA needs to dismiss these two within one hour tomorrow otherwise Aus will score too much and game will be out of their reach. Vern needs to contribute as well here.

Marsh is a weirdo. Scores tons against Steyn and co. but gets owned by Ishant and Sir Vinay.

Yeah, too bad Tahir was able to get a five-for before they caught them cheating.

If Pak weren't so pathetic in the first innings we could've drawn that game annoys me so much

Make marsh face the bowling attacks of India,sl and bangladesh and watch him average less than chris martin :msd

Australia have really turned the tables after lunch. SA will look for an early break through tomorrow, but day 2 is expected to be a belter of a wicket, and SA may end up chasing leather on day two also. 450 looks like a distinct possibility now, may be 500 is possible too if no early wickets are lost tomorrow.

Its interesting that every bowler is going @3+ to the over.
How is the pitch? How has it behaved? We cant take anything away from Australia, but did SA bowl tosh?
Whats a good total on this pitch?

You haven't really bowled badly at all. It's a pitch that offers some assistance.

Very odd decision by Smith to field.

I don't think SA bowled bad. Credit should be given to Aus to bat well after their initial trouble. Problem is Vern has not been very effective here.

If Aus can bat for another two sessions then we are looking at 450+ minimum. Aus normally bats fast so let's wait till SA bat here to see if everyone bats at a fast clip. I think pitch was fine but there was a bright sunshine all the time. That made it bit easier to bat but pitch had enough in it. Tomorrow it's going to be the same. SA must get rid of these two quickly and try to bat bulk of the day tomorrow.

I thought a lot of fans would tune in to watch this test match. Not too many folks around following this match.

I suppose I am the only in BD watching it :P Although i will be watching BD VS SL in the next few hours

It's because the time sucks for us based in the US. I had to record it as it started at 3.30am and finished at 10.30am and I had a meeting this morning. I'm watching the full match now. Looks like whatever made them put in Marsh turned out to be an inspired decision lol. Funny how those things work. Marsh has always been a player who could be top class if he put his mind to it. Too often he doesn't put his mind to it.

Very good day for Australia. If they can add another 100-150 they can apply a lot of pressure on Saffers.

I worry that we will have the same problem without Twatto

After knowing the score in advance , watching recording is not the same. Takes away the major fun part. I slept very little to watch it but it's tough to do it for 5 days in a row.

Happy Marsh has got a ton Aloo Paalak tried to mock him saying he was a pakistani selection not one you'd expect from Australia well look who's laughing now

Game-losing decision to bowl first here. Johnson and Harris may kill people on this pitch come day 4/5.

God help those Saffer commies if South Africa lose their first home series in 7 years. They are one step away from nervous breakdowns as it is now and its only 1st innings.

Excuses are already beginning from the commies!

Yea unfortunately I had a morning meeting I needed to be fresh for. I thought of not checking the score beforehand but I couldn't resist :D

Just finished watching...geez Cloudlander looked ordinary today bowling at 115-120kmh. That's Zaheeresque pace. Anyone know the weather forecast tomorrow am?

Same as the last day.

i remember him rolling over a side for 47 on a baking hot day too. Perhaps the number 1 ranked bowler is due some respect?

Good day and very surprised by the marsh innings, nice to see smith showing his rapid progress isn't restricted to runs against the poms.

Not getting carried away though, we piled on the runs last series vs SA but didn't count for anything in the end and even in that 47 all out game we had complete control after the first innings and it meant zilch.

SA aren't a dominant side who just blow teams away like the great wi/aus teams of the past but they are surely one of the toughest sides to actually beat in cricket history so one good day doesn't mean much against them.

As I predicted, Aus will win this Test.

My guess is, Aus will score around 450.
SA will be bundled out for 250.
Aus will score 300 all out or declare it in 2nd innings.
SA will be chasing a mammoth 500 in 4th and they crumble under pressure.

Less than 5 years. We beat them in 2009

I think it's actually 7 years since they lost away from home.

Although i do agree the commentators in the last session were pretty whingy, they are at home playing an opposition who missed out on their only practice match yet they are talking about SA being underdone?

Laughable.

South Africa and crumbling in test just dont go together. Perhaps you have not watched much cricket over the last 5 years. Heck even 9. You dont lose 1 series out of 19 by being a bottle.
