Steyn and Ntini right now must be rated as best new ball pair in world game.

Err, I'll assume it's just an oversight on your part but Zaheer/Ishant wear that crown.

Do you want PP to be closed down by the BCCI or something?

Clarke GONE for 68! Steyn gets him caught behind

182-5

SA now must go for the kill!

What a travesty for Australia. Clarke dismissed just before tea that too to a silly shot.

I can feel a Sambit Bal piece coming on shortly about this dismissal.

Australia have played some seriously poor shots here!

They have pretty much gifted 4 out of the 5 wickets lost. Over-agressiveness.

Aussies in big trouble here!

How big ?

LOL @ Hughes. Nerves for the young bloke.

200 Up for Aussies.

They need someone to go on as a few have got starts and then a wicket falls

This was on Sky Sports 1 - now replaced with the WI v Eng game.

Where has it gone?

Must be on interactive, press the red button.

Hughes failed!!! No wonder Aussie's might not find a replacement for Hayden so easily.

Australia have Phil Jaques to come back from injury. He averages 47 opening so really Hughes is only filling in for the injured Jaques.

Haddin 37(48) - North 47(90)
Aus 254-5 after 68 overs
last 10 overs 32-0
21 overs left today

Steyn comes on and immediately Bowden and Bucknor converge. Out comes the light meter and they decide to offer the light. No surprises, Australia says thats fine, we're off.

Match delayed by bad light

I know he is trying to fill his boots. But no one seems to be successful in filling Phil boots. I think they might have a problem like us to finding openers. But we have few good openers who can easily solve our problem now.

Aussies have fought back well here but both these batsmen need to go on and get big runs and hundreds.

S.A over-rate in game so far has been a joke.

North has been very impressive so far with the bat.

?? Are you okay bro? Let the series end and then go all out. SA is a position where India and England couldn't be. Smell the #1 spot. (they were all #2, a distant #2). They deserve to be rated that high.

Stumps Day one. Match starts 30 minutes earlier tomorrow (10 am local time)
Aus 254-5 after 68 overs

cut Hughes some slack and the guy has played one inning. Saeed Anwar and Attapattu also opened their careers with quite a few ducks.

This guy has been a scoring machine in Australia, I am sure he will come thru

I think players who score duck in their first innings are hero. I think Tendu did it too

there was nothing beutiful about that ball. Punter just had a brain fart!

What on earth?! How often do you see so much swing in cricket? It was an exceptional ball, no batsmen would expect the ball to swing that much. The last time I remember seeing such a swing was from Anwar Ali in U19 WC.

25 minutes to go until the start of play. Aus fought back well after the standard (these days) start.

South Africa will want to keep it down to 300 or as close to. Although 300 not such a bad score on this wicket batting first. Honours evenish so far.

Day two and you get the feeling so much relies on the first session. If Australia can get to and through the new ball without much damage they can amass a huge score by the standards of this ground. Quick wickets needed from a saffer perspective.

These two seem so settled and have from ball one. Either their on the form of their lives , or the pitch and saffer bowlers has gone off the boil.

North or Haddin need to post a hundred here for Australia.

A wicket or two here and S.A are back on top.

I see another massive crowd for this sold out match today.

Arrgh Mark Nicholas is back..... :pissed:

5/270

50 for Haddin now. North Batting at six is ideal for Aussies he looks like a tough nut whose prepared to graft and from what ive seen of him in county cricket he puts a high price on his wicket!

South Africans look so flat. Wonder what this is all about. Maybe cause these two have lookedso in control they are just not offerig any chances.

There were a lot of periods in the last Test series where the Australians controlled the game.

It just gets a bit forgotten because we lost the moments that counted.

We'll you're winning the moment that counts in this match so far. Anything over 350 will be huge on this track.

Hmm these commentators Saffer

Nicholas - "Ntini to bowl his first over of the morning". Err he opened the bowling Mark.

Random Saffer - "They know if they can just get one more wicket they are into the tail and can finish things off pretty quickly." I don't think South Africa have once in any of the matches so far finished off the Australian tail easily.

5/290, Steyn and Ntini with the new ball and there is swing and seam.

important break trough just before the 300 with haddin throwing it away at a crucial stage...bowling them ut for under 350 still possible.

We'll we're due then surely ?

I think Johnson will be shown up against the swinging ball.....well....I hope so anyway. S.A really can't afford Aussie to get another 100 here.

Saffer - are these 'SuperSport 1/2' channels available 'free to air' or or Pay TV (Sat/cable) in SA?

300 is a decent score on this pitch, any more runs are excellent.

McDonald ahhh. Lucky we picked North.

Wonder how often Haddin's dismissals are described as "threw it away"

This ball is swwwwwwwiiiiiinnnnnnngggggggiiiiinnnnggggg big time

LOL this commentator just owned himself.

Why are crowds so poor? Stadium is virtually EMPTY?

Its South Africa v Australia - not SA v Minnow!

Karachi took a real pasting the other day for its crowds 'no-show'

Game back on knife edge. North needs to shield the Tail and get total up to 350-400 atleast.

Intresting to see how Aussie bowlers go later on this wkt!

Pay, comes free with your satelite package for about 40$ a month with 200 other chanells of which superport offers around 7. But it's shown on free tv too. Supersport are brilliant and we get to watch just about every cricket, rugby , soccer (english , italian , german , spanish leagues etc) motor racing etc available.

MJ is no mug with bat averages 25 in tests same as Faisal Iqbal! lol!

Well I think any team wll go well on this wicket. Aussie batted very well thus far on this pitch , while the saffers looked rusty and flat.

MJ's good technique for a no 9 , and some of his drives look classy as well ...he should work on his batting more , then you never know !

Cullinan : Statistically speaking Kallis is the best cricketer that has ever played.

I fully agree.

Its the only channel I watch when in Pakistan - all their channels are available for the princely sum of $2 US a month! They show EVERY conceivable sporting event on the planet.

Want to find out if I can get it in UK - via sateliite. Will investigate.

You can get it illegal. It's pirated throughout Asia. But yes , by a long way the best sports channel available for those of us ex english colonies and the sports we enjoy.

Well statisically many players look like world beaters, when you break it down its a different story!

Yeah...many look statistically like world beaters....but none even close as as statistically fantastic as kallis.

7/322 now, MJ again showing some class with the bat.

Aus will be pretty happy with this score I think.

Edged through the slips. No luck and it's looking boringly predictable like the aussie tail is going to get away with everything and amass a huge total over 350.

Match winning partnership this. S.A will be losing hope now with every run. This is not a 350 wicket.

S.A bowlers still getting ball to zip and spit here but Aussies are holding firm!

Amjid Javed said:

Yeah...they missing everything. The luck is def, running their way.

I have always felt that Johnson, while not an all rounder, is still capable enough to make pivotal partnerships. He isn't someone you can just knock over that soon, no matter how good the bowling attack is.

they either miss it or hit it for 4 ...nick one and let's get on with the game.

Ok. 350 up. I'll call this one early. 1-0 to Australia. S.A look flat and i suspect it's highly unlikely we're going to miss as many as they are rather than edge them when we bat. I hope I'm wrong.
