What's new

South Africa v England | 1st ODI | Bloemfontein | Feb 3, 2016 | England won by 39 runs (D/L method)

It seems these new rules are not making much of a difference. Then again, it's still early days, and nobody knows how to approach these newer rules.

Moeen and rashid do bowl some utter garbage deliveries most of time in odis they get wickets its usually a shock.

Looks like this game will be cut short at some point by the weather or maybe rain reduced.

FFs  faf what have you done.
Didn't i made it crystal clear that AB shouldn't come before 30th over in my last post.

Now only rain can help them and luckily rain is very likely.

SA 147/2 after 19 overs

plenty of buffet bowling there from rashid.

**** bowling gets wickets as you say, was a stunning catch but rubbish ball.

Anyways its all over.. SA was never gonna win this but really wanted to see an inning from AB.

QDK showing some guts here a great knock.

This is the last real partnership for Saffers. They lose a wicket now it's game over.

Stokes is approaching world class player status now.

Looks tough for SA.It would always be tough chasing 400 and that also with ABD failing.Still, a 350+ score could give them a moral victory.

Great bowling from Stokes, economy rate of ~4 off 4 overs. Goes nicely with the quickfire 50 and brilliant boundary catch.

Jordan on  Might as well pick my 7-month old kitten as a bowler if we're still giving 'Boundary Chris' a place in the side.

The highlight of Chris Jordan's career: The super-over against Shahid Afridi and Umar Akmal.

Had AB not got out cheaply this could have been an even chase, still there is a slim chance for the Saffers

Jordan seems to be in the side just for his fielding ala Rizwan and even he can bat a bit.

Duminy is supposed to be a senior in this team and still bats with the aura of a nervous newbie it was an incredibly tame dismissal. And just as i write Roussow has played one down long ons throat.

Moeen is the golden arm. Looks innocuous but picks up wickets.

QDK looks like he is tiring. He needs better support.

Even Behaya-ardin hitting the first ball off Jordan for 4. Game called off due to rain. Hopefully the equation will tilt in SA's favour if they come back after a well deserved rest for De Cock.

D/L par score is 290 after 34 after and South Africa is on 250.
That is really unfair.

SA have lost 5 wickets after 33 overs. This time it's not really unfair that they're behind on D/L.

You mean 5 wickets are costing them it's not the score...please bear with me I am not good in D/L.

Lolz @ the look Nasser gave to the camera when Pollock was going on and on about himself.

Yeah, if they had lost just one or two wickets then the par D/L score would be much lower, which makes sense because the more wickets you have in hand the more likely it is that you can score heavily in the second half of the innings. If you have lost a lot of wickets then you will score fewer runs at the end.

James Taylor's non-selection seems to be causing controversy.

Rightly or wrongly, IMO he is being punished for his filthy dismissal / horror shot in the 4th Test which exposed Bairstow and the tail, causing England to capitulate at a crucial juncture in the match. Guys like Fabrace and Bayliss will have viewed that as 'not being a team player'.

Ejactly.

How does he do it?

Its bloody hard to rate him as a spinner.

But then its hard to dismiss him as a nobody too as he takes important wickets time and again.
