Why play two spinners against South Africa ?We're the best players of spin bowling in the world.

Look who is back

It is funny eh ?

But it's true. We are the best at everything.

Remind me....what happened to "The Best" when they ran into Afridi and Ajmal?

Kallis played well but overall traditional style of boring test cricket?? Couldm't watch more than 4 overs on a trot...

260/4 in a day...thats seems like a test match of early 90's

I would rather see 340/6 and atleast one batsman blazing away....Saffies always play safe...they are always a boring test side esp Kallis....

Don't know. We beat you 2 -0 in tests in Pakistan so obviously not much.

Nope. Of our batsmen only prince and kallis can be called defensive. Smith , De villiers , Dumminy etc are quick scorers. Kallis is very good at what he does and he shouldn't change a thing and is very elegant to watch when he's going.

I find India a very boring test team by the way. Prepare a flat pitch that will crumble and then hope they win the toss and score 600 plus or play for the draw.

Duminy Gone now to spin of Swann. Yeah! The Saffies are really great players of spin bowling. :))

2.77 runs per over and that surely makes them an attacking batting line up. :))

I dont think England are happy with the review system :))) :))) :)))
And they surely have no clue how to use it too. The caught behind review yesterday was really a waste with no hot spot.

True

I think the Morkel decision tells us how important the review system is - it still needs a little bit of tweaking BUT its far better than having nowt

Well considering you didn't play them in tests, yeah, not much would happen. But I am talking about the Legendary players of spin against those 2 in T20. The one time they did play them, they looked obviously very foolish.

S.A pushing towards 400 which looks par on this wicket!

what a snoozefest...knock 'em over already! I want to see Makhaya and de Wet!

Pitch not helping today. Interesting to see what the SA bowlers will do on this pitch. SA almost nearing the 400 mark now, decent score this.

Pitch is dead. England could score big too.

yaaaaaaaaawwwwn

yar yeh log kab out hoyengey?! kasam se bore kardiya hai

South Africa seem to be following the Pakistan tactic of scoring at 1 run every 86 overs.

I really really really do not understand this tactic. It doesn't work, it sends people to sleep and it isn't exactly a good advertisment for test cricket. Just keep the scoreboard ticking, they only have 2 wickets in hand.....just go for some runs now. You can still go at 3 an over without taking risks....you don't have to go at 0.0000000001 run per over in order to preserve wickets.

You reckon English fans are furious about incompetent tactics and defensive field placings? Or do they just accept that this happens occasionally on flat wickets?

Although they probably are genuinely complaining about not having a fifth bowling option, any attack where Jimmy is your number 1 strike option is an attack asking for a beating.

SA has batted way too slowly to force a result, how can they expect to bowl England out twice in three days on this pitch?

Another boring draw, ZZzzZZZzzzZZzzz....

Dunno much about the pitch but Paul Harris gets behind the ball better than most of our so called batsmen.

Swann gets 5 for, intresting to see how much pitch crumbles later....

Well cook didnt make much of his repreive. Intresting to see how Trott goes here...

new saffie bowler already bowling arnd 90/91 mph...

He went over 150 kph now. But bring morkel on...his speed has been right up there recently.

The only non south african born people on the pitch right now are the umpires.

England 49/1 after 10. 15 overs left for today.

Morkel already up to 150. I predict a fierce spell from him once he settles.

England are a far better Test side , much more balanced and have a good approach as well .

Even if this match ends in a stalemate , I expect England to come stronger in the remaining part of the series .

Lolz! Here goes his own hypothetical logic.... :)))

400 in 5 sessions on a flat track and you call them these boring Saffies quick scorers....

England already scoring at 4runs per over and are looking much better....

Atleats India scores at 3.50 runs per over consistently, flat track or not.....

Once again confirmed, SA is the most non happening test team and need a green track for their bowlers to get a result....

they will get owned on a green pitch . England has some very technically correct batsmen , they will survive , but not the likes of Prince , smith or Amla

Just goes to show how flawed the test rankings are eh.

He was probably suggesting that England is far better in Test cricket than in ODI cricket. Just my opinion.

Ntini got rid of Strauss early. England are 117/2 and the run rate has slowed down considerably

what the blob has happened to the pitch, every other ball skidding along the ground WACA-style. I suspect night-time pitch aliens! I would rather get bowled out for 200 and follow on now, better chance of winning.

Can't blame the choice to bowl first. With a bit more luck and an extra bowler we would have got them out for less than 400. I don't think bowling or batting first was that important, the pitch is a difficult one to read.

Trott did a Misbah there. 28 off 116 and then gets out to an ugly swipe

Pietersen is our Lara or Tendulkar, in that 'there's always a chance' if he's still in. And I wonder if this sort of dodgy-pitch attrition will suit Collingwood's nudges and nurdles. I've not given up hope yet...

England need to rebuild here and need KP to get a biggie!

Despite some could-be-better shot selection, consider his time out of the game and his poor form, I think he has played as well as could be expected so far. Some nudging and nurdling at the other end and one of KP's slower fifties or hundreds could be on the cards to at least help us bat out the day, and we'll see where we are then.

KP gone, 168/4 and not looking so rosy for England

Pietersen edges a no-ball onto his stumps. life is unfair
