what a difference between saffers and indian bowlers.., when Indians bowled pitch looked flat and now it is looking like minefeild

Steyn because of excellent wrist position gets late swing everywhere(this is a very elite ability)+ he has a very wide arsenal.

Philander extracts kick and seam movement from pitch because of his strong shoulders and seam position and has relentless accuracy.

why good for nothing player like rohit sharma is played ahead of players like pujara is beyond me. ashwyn and rohit shouldne be in away tours. one can argue about ashwyns batting ability but there are better batters out there. give Mishra long run to prove himself instead

India looking unstopable, SA will need to do something special to win. Time is runninh out ball is getting softer and batting will become easier

Pujara has good defense.

The wicket is still batting-friendly but you have to bee good to cope with all this preassure from SA Quickies.

Even Misbah would have been surprised looking at this approach from indians.

India need score a bit faster. The sooner they can erase the lead, the better. No point in hanging around for a long time without scoring.

cris: "For all the people asking India to score quick runs, I have seen SA bowl like this before- against Aus,NZ and Pak when they were all bowled out for 40 odd. These guys are doing the best they can, this is some of the best bowling they'll ever face in their entire careers.."

good point agreed

Right on target. One guy is averaging in teens and other is Steyn, lol.

Don't agree at all, those wickets were different. This wicket is very flat.

If SA have prepared the same wickets in Tests as we saw in ODIs the Test series would have been over some time ago.

Asjad: "This is highest no of balls Dhawan has faced in this series! Hope he gets a big score here and keeps his place for next series!!!

Yeah they are all patta wickets.

Indian batsmen must be so jealous of their South African counterparts. A 50 scored against South African attack is actually better batting than a 100 scored against our trundlers.

This is where my respect for Kohli and Pujara grows so much. They have treated South African attack the way one would expect AB Devillier to treat ours.

OK, Spinners need to take some quick wickets on this pitch and support fast bowlers.

This is not a pace minefield where you have to score at 1 per over to survive. SA just got 500 here, and India got 334. India should score faster so that a late collapse does not prevent India from securing a sufficient lead.

Amla's finger is bleeding. Hopefully, it's not too bad.

Look like there are two Michael Carberrys out there

LOL, at least these guys are trying to save a test. Carberry played 70 balls with 6 runs when setting up the game. That was epic.

Probably SACB want some revenue out of this tour rather than 2 day Tests and bragging rights. Fans like bragging rights; cricket boards like revenues.

Pitches aren't as flat as you guys are making out to be. Apart from pitches the overcast conditions and opposition bowling attack also matters. South Africa has the best bowling attack to suit these conditions and indians so far have batted well against them. Lets see how australia is going to bat against them in the upcoming series.

Dhawan played 10 overs (70 balls) so far, and it could contribute to the team's cause of saving this match

Pujara again looking rock solid here. He needs to be dismissed otherwise he will save this test.

Smith should bowl with spinners here. SA has nothing to lose by making Indians play maximum number of overs possible.

Dhawan's excruciating knock comes to an end

Brilliant catch. Now one more wicket and Indians may fold tomorrow.

WHAT A CATCH!!! that would make rhodes proud. One handed. wow wow.. dhawan goes. thas a fielders wicket.

India has 8 wickets still in the tank ....... 3 quality batsmen to come.

SA bowlers must be tired.
