disappointing day as an Indian, but then, excellent day of test cricket! I guess we just thrown away our best chance of series victory. Now I hope we will survive the last day.

yes, they are a formidable team. They will get to the No. 1 spot as they have a lot of self belief after this series. Provided Steyn and Kallis keep their form, they will be no. 1 by 2012. I guess we all know that India will go into reconstruction phase by about that time.

SA surprisingly will not play a test for the next 8 months and their next assignments in test cricket is a 3 test home series vs Australia in Sep 2011, then host Sri Lanka in Dec 2011 for 3 tests and finally tour NZ for 3 tests in March 2012. Thats 9 tests in the next 15 months.

They will have to win big in all these series to move to no. 1 (or else hope India lose all their future series). This is where today is so important. A drawn test will work well for us where it will keep SA where they are currently in the ranking points.

Hopping for dramatic end of this Test Match.. India can win if they have a good solid foundation from Shehwag in the 1st session.. Wishing Good Luck for Both the Team and May the best team wins the match..

Sehwag is more likely to gift away his wicket to the African bowlers , giving a solid foundation to the hopes of the opposition of winning this match .

If sehwag survives the new ball, I think we have a solid chance of winning this one. A quick 70-80 from him and we can really build on it.

Yeah.. That will make things easy for other Indian Batsmen. But to me Key is Laxmi Bhai.. He is real super hero.

Snorters after snorters.

Doubt anyone would be able to survive that kinda bowling for too long. Kallis was lucky he only had to face Indian attack which was not even a patch on this SA attack in the 2nd innings.

Difference in class of both bowling lineups in huge. Absolutely mind boggling..

+ conditions tough also.

Pakistan had to chase 341 in Dubai and there was a point where they couldve attacked for the win. No doubt India has a chance if they keep the wickets and play steady, match can surely be India's.

If india can get to lunch just 1 wicket down at worse they have a great chance here!

Morkel is looking even more threatening than Steyn. Now that says something.

Gotta say good learning curve for our batsmen ahead of Eng tour. Conditions would probably remain same except perhaps bounce. Bowlers too would be menacing just like Steyn & Co in this series.

India will not risk a series loss - makes no sense.

You start every tour from scratch - the only thing you carry with you is the confidence from previous outings.

wud hv been a diff. story if they would hv played a second spinner instead of sharma

I highly doubt it. Our batters will again be spoilt by cement strip batting pitches during the WC and IPL and will have to start all over again come July.

Unless we focus on creating more green tops at home, we'll always struggle abroad.

Thats what I said. Confidence carried over from this outing in SA.

I think we'll be playing a series in WI as well.

As for our batting, I think it'll still click more often than not. Its our bowling which sucks 9/10 times.

One rare time it clicked it won us a test at a venue where we never won before.

Newlands is the Local venue for kallis and he has scored 8 of his 40 centuries on this ground

Don't you have to have some part of your boot behind the popping crease? If yes, that definitely didn't look like the case on that occasion.

Nope now its the norm and has become expected :P

Please accrept this post as proof of "whine" at an allegedly poor umpiring decision by all 3 umpires.

Regards

Dhoni please send Laxman as No. 3

Is he Adrew Symonds's Cousin??? :D

SA played safe by not declaring , I see no reason why India should not be cautious here ...we will need to play out another 30 overs , without thinking of the win now that Shewag is out .

Typical SA safety first! Indian batting order will not rollover and die.

Draw is 90% surety at the moment.

Sehwag should have just dropped Tsotsobe's catch, I bet you Smith would still have had SA batting now

Ye kya anti climax after 4 enthralling days.Common south africa get about 8 wickets but dont get the remaining two.

Africa is a continent, not a country. We don't refer to the Indian team as Asian, do we?

Well. Might I mention Sehwag. The guy who is apparently better than anyone else ever.

Sehwag going to silence the doubters who say he can't play quality bowling on sporting pitch.

Sehwag FAIL.

Good effort by SA here, they were gone for all money last night. Draw or SA win now the only possibilities but India have Laxman and Tend so hard to see that happening.

Lol Sehwag.

This is why I don't rate him as high as the other indian batsmen. Struggles on bouncy pitches, and can't try and save a test for his life. His innings was pathetic to say the least.

Good Gambhir's got a start, once he gets one it's difficult to get him out. I feel dravid will be gone soon, it's just his form isn't there. I predict it'll be gambhir and Sehwag who will get India out of this situation.

India aren't going to go for the win, but they'll probably draw it.

a little disappointed , though I will take a Draw over a series loss here... a target of 310 , would have ensured a great end to the series with all three results possible .

South Africa got scared of Indias batting and didnt declare. India have surprised me and played very well in these conditions. Need to give credit where its due although I'm still holding onto the hope that Steyn rips through them and leads SA to victory its quite unlikely

Sehwag has been the biggest flop of this ongoing test series . Many even hailed this series as a contest between Steyn V/s Sehwag battle which will decide the team that will rule. No wonder Sehwag failed big time as was expected from him

True. Sehwag needs to find his form, and fast.

For those who couldnt follow this test series, here it is in a nutshell.

Sehwag failed, Smith Failed.
Steyn was success, Zahir was success
Redemption for Boucher and Harby.

Day in office for Laxman, Sreesanth, Morkel, Gambhir.

Kallis outshone everyone else. Tendulkar marches on.

India : didnt win to live upto its reputation of number 1, but for many will be seen in a different light, no longer as ftb's.

SA now has self belief to be number 1; but lived upto its reputation yesterday evening at the prospect of declaring early.

Test Cricket wins big time.

SA misread the track. They should have played two spinners, or hell even Botha over Paul Harris....who looks useless even in helping conditions.

They need to get Imran Tahir in ASAP!

Agree largely except the bold bit.

India: Well India did live up to its expectation of the number 1 side by bouncing back as they did after the first test. What they however did not live upto, was the australianesque kinda domination which indianfanboys were expecting.

SA: Self belief of being number 1? really? The way they have played I think they're still a fair distance away from claiming the number 1 spot from India. Fantastic but still lack the final blow.

And India have that final blow? They had their opposition at 130/6 and are now fighting for a draw.

And India escapes from another successful LBW due to the lack of the UDRS.

That was plumb. How the hell did the Umpire not give that out.
Even my Grandma would of given that out plumb. Jeez these umpires need to be booted out seriously. How blind can someone be. They simply arent doing there jobs and should get a big fine for such horrendus mistakes.

In this match - NO. Over the past 2-3 years - Yes (we've beaten a lot of teams, majorly home they maybe but the we had the final blows :))

Don't exaggerate. The umpires deserve lot of praise in the match. The commentators said "This is the first mistake made by the umpires in the match"

If that was the other way round trust me you would be screaming and shouting especially If it was the wicket of Kallis early on.

Also to add that was absolute plumb. Simply no excuses. It was stone dead.

I agree but BCCI should be truly ashamed of themselves for not supporting UDRS. Out off all test playing countries, only BCCI doesnt support UDRS
