Also to add that was absolute plumb. Simply no excuses. It was stone dead.

That was plumb but that was very difficult to see by naked eye bat or pad first. And its a mistake yes,but for this if you want the umpires to be booted off or fined heavily, does not make sense at all.

Poor decision, definitely. However, there were two noises in realtime - so probably that's what put off the umpire.

BTW chui_kadoo what did you think of the Morkel no-ball?

That was plumb. How the hell did the Umpire not give that out.
Even my Grandma would of given that out plumb. Jeez these umpires need to be booted out seriously. How blind can someone be. They simply arent doing there jobs and should get a big fine for such horrendus mistakes.

It could not be more plump,,

Even its out now, Morkell No- ball vs LBW........... Indians playing for a draw here, dissappointing I hate that fricken Dravid he will score 40 off 250 balls and draw this match.....

It was not a no-ball. Read the rules again.

Doesnt he rule says one feet has to be behind the line ? Pollock during the commentary said it could go either way..

Upon landing the front foot, part of the front foot has to be behind the line, even if it is in the air. If the foot then slides forward, it cannot be a no-ball.

Even when it looked like his heel was on the line, zooming in showed that there was about an inch behind the line.

Good question. For me I didnt see anything behind the line. I thought it was a No Ball. I think the Umpire should of given it a no -ball but it was close. Im not sure who should get the benefit of the doubt the bowler or the batsmen

No it wasnt as far as i saw.lets wait for the highlights video.

Have to say.. Sa fielding has been very very poor.....do not seem that sharp any more..

England have the best fielding.. Sa used to have..

Refer to the first part of my post. When his front foot landed, part of it was in the air behind the line. The back part then landed, and appeared on the line. Ultra zoom (shown during the lunch break) then showed it to be about an inch behind the line.

Regardless, it was not a no-ball because when his foot landed, part of it was in the air behind the line.

I really feel Smith is an average captain.. A lot of bowl has gone in the air... he is quite reactive... after the bowl has gone in the air.. he has set the fielder there.....

WHats going on here. Another one shelled. SA fielders are making Farhat and co look like Jonty Rhodes.

I have never seen anything like this. Even Pak havent dropped 3 catches in the space of 5 minutes

catches dropped? If this match ends in a draw, lets wait for conspiracy theory threads tomorrow.

The first point may not matter because correctly at the time ball is delivered it is seen to be the seen where the leg is,and not after he has delivered and steps the back foot down.

The 2nd point yes,let us see the highlights package to confirm.Maybe i dint see clearly too.But just going by the replay it was not behind the line.

Indian Supporters must be loving this fielding effort from SA. They must be doing Cartwheels

It matters because that's what the rule says. It's measured when the foot lands, not at the point of releasing the ball.

Poor Umpiring and Sa poor captaincy and fielding has cost them a series win here..:...

Harris for me is not an attacking bowler. The quicker Imran Tahir gets selected the better for SA. If Immy was bowling today he probably would of had 5 wickets by now

If the fielder had held on chances Harris would also got 5 wickets today.. But yeah Imran Tahir is better spinner than Harris-.-..-.

I hear that Imran Tahir has been selected for the ODI matches. Cant wait to see him in action. He is definitly a match winner

Anyway they could shake hands and call it a game ?? THis is a stale mate Smith shouldve declared earlier, Indians wouldve gone for it and possibly collapsed...

After all the drama in the past four days today looks like an anti-climax. Can't blame the way India plays now. The game slipped out of our hands yday due to the brilliance of Kallis well supported by Boucher.

Cant deny the feeling that India might wait long to get an opportunity like what was presented yesterday to come close in winning a series in SA..

yeah they were mighty close to win their first series in SA.

Tendulkar didn't even hit that. Came off his thigh pads.

Robin Jackman just assumed it must have hit hit bat on its way to AB. That angle they showed it from wasn't enough to declare that.

it was our match to lose & we did everything possible to mess it up .. a little disappointed , but 1-1 is probably a fair result in the end ..both team played some brilliant cricket in patches & but not enough to dominate the opposition .

Also they declared far too late. They should of declared once they got to 300

300 would have been probably chased down here . No team wud be comfortable setting us that kind of target , let alone SA who are normally defensive .

I really thing a result would have been nice.. Sa playing a lot of Drawn series--

I hate Ghamir.. get him out..

Indian need to survive 3 hour..
Keep on hating him. He has definitely proved beyond doubt that he can play fast bowlers on tracks like these. A lot of people here predicted that he'll be a massive failure on these pitches. He has shown what guts can do for you.

Agree largely except the bold bit.

India: Well India did live up to its expectation of the number 1 side by bouncing back as they did after the first test. What they however did not live upto, was the australianesque kinda domination which indianfanboys were expecting.

SA: Self belief of being number 1? really? The way they have played I think they're still a fair distance away from claiming the number 1 spot from India. Fantastic but still lack the final blow.

@ final blow.. The match isnt over yet. We have about what.. one hour of play remining. I might change my opinion about SA if they win even at this stage.

Ozzie domination stretched for 10 long years. I think it will be difficult for any team among Ind, SA & Eng to start that kind of domination in coming 5 to 6 years. So for next few years, we might as well say that dominating team is the one who is number 1 at end of the year.

About who deservs to be number 1? Both teams looked like winning the series at one point. SA on 2nd test day 1 and India in 3rd test when SA were 7 down. So its status quo.

I maintain that SA do believe that they can win against India.
I am not talking about the blind conviction that many SA fans had before but after their team's performance in this series.

Self belief is important as this is the reason India are number 1, They started believing in 2008.

300 was a very dangerous target to set. India could have chased it.

In general I think India batted better in the second innings anyway. What really hurt South Africa was a lack of a quality spinner.

Games a draw! India lost chance to win game when they allowed Bouchers, steyn and co to get runs and support kallis.

Guess my 1-1 prediction at start of series was right!

Yup...Agree with that. SA and India are close teams . One can be better than the other on their day but cant completely dominate the other.

Had somebody told me before the series that it would be a stalemate, I would have taken it. Now that this series is petering towards exactly that, I will take it albeit with a pinch of salt..

I am Happy with Indian performance in this Test series .....good ...:14:

Veeru & Gambhir both ruled out for ODI series ....so it means Mr. Vijay will open with SRT ....

Gambhir has definitely earned respect. He showed guts and character. lot better then likes of Jaffar, Chopra, dinesh gandhi, ramesh, karthik. He has definitely outbatted south african openers in their backyard.

Gambhir back in form is great for India's chances at World cup too. he is very important part of India's batting lineup.

if wishes were horses.. right now, my horse is Kumble. he could have wiped the tail off SA on this pitch. Ishant could go back to domestic level and learn about consistency.

10 more overs wundt have made any difference to SA's chances .

Smith and company were to scared to declare because of Sehwag factor.

Sehwag's reputation is worth its weight in Gold. This is not the first time opposition have been scared to declare against this lineup.

Gosh..didnt realize that! Double thumbs up to GG da man :)

SA has now won just 1 test series in last 2 years (home/away) and that was against WI, thats assuming this test would end up as draw.

Is that enough for a team to be called no.1 in world?

He has definitely outbatted south african openers in their backyard.
Thats a very good point. And have a look at the attacks SA openers had to face and what Gambhir has faced in this series.

And don't forget this was his first ever tour to SA while the likes of Smith and Peterson are born and brought up on these pitches.

1-1 we r at par in s.a pitches .. and much better at home .. that why india is no.1 and s.a is no.2

we'll see who the real number one is this summer eng vs india..SA are perennial bridesmaids!

my bet is england will be no.1 pretty soon and they have massive strength in depth too!

So if not SA then all hopes are pinned on Eng to teach this indian team a lesson. How come they're hogging no.1 for over an year now?

:))) Ok! did it occur to you that teams maybe have the sense that they dont want to give cheap wins away!

I guess S.A took ages to declare in both tests v Pakistan because they were scared of Hafeez :)
