S.A have a PAR total here so India need to match that or go past it.

India 6/0 in reply.

What a surprise, Sehwag is out to Steyn yet again.

So much for the big Sehwag and Steyn battle, lol. :))

I've said it time and time again, Sehwag's style of play just won't work on bouncy wickets most of the time. Get a good bowler in there on a bouncy track and he's mincemeat.

Gambhir for all purposes has the better technique and grit to make a big score on these sort of pitches. Hope he scores big. Sadly I don't think that'll happen as he's not in great form.

Steyns icc ranking numbers r going to be massive after this series. No ones going to top him anytime soon.

Gambhir scares of Bouncy deliveries.. Takes his eyes off when Bowler bowls bouncers on regular basis.. thats Bad technique..

god! i came back after making wudhu and decided 2 see the proceedings, of da match and i got a good surprise a wishful one 2!! sehwag gone!!! wow!

he will make it even the next time sa tour india ....
Yeah but that's the point. He'll do it in India. Where probably a lot of other Indian batsmen will score big too.

The real test for him was this South Africa tour. What this tour has shown is that even now, Tendulkar is India's best batsman.

this is what was said on cricinfo..... abt maha sehwag

Paras: "Just noticed that Sehwag has been grossly underperforming since mid 2006 in out of subcontinent matches, averaging 29.... which includes a single test at Adelaide where he scored 151 & 63, without which he averages 22.... Further, half of the innings in this period have been against SAF, against whom he averages 20.. not such a great threat for SA, is he??"

So Will SA be more happy with Dravid's wicket or would they have prefered Gambhir wasn't dropped?

In the longer run I think they are more happy with Dravid's wicket.

Its Dravid's Wicket which is more Important.. Ghambhir will Get himself Out anytime..

Although it is obvious that only one of them is a genuine great of the game, Gambhir has become a better player than Dravid. Shame about Dravid being donk these days and all. Used to be THE wicket, even moreso than Tendulkar.

Two wasted and gifted wickets on a slightly better batting wicket. Has been disappoitning so far.

Shocking run out! cant stop Laughing :)))

India 40/2

Am sure VVS will have to bail India out again as usual.

India have let SA off the hook. Kallis has single-handedly got them into a dominant position: my prediction was for India to win in Durban and SA here

It would be a good move for him and for India. I love the bloke but it's time to go.

I dont see anything wrong with his technique or even reflexes seems low on confidence, but we dont have the time to wait till he regains his form . WI tour should be a good opportunity to bring in another youngster , before the England tour .

Sehwag has had a shocker of a series! :)

Sehwag isnt in the same class of Batsmen such as Dravid and Tendulkar who have got runs all around the world .

He is just good enough to bat in subcontinent conditions especially against his fav bunny Pakistan

Yes but he doesn't score big regularly. Sometimes he does but often he doesn't. When he does click he often scores big. It's a bit like North (though North isn't anywhere near the batsman Sehwag is). Either scores big or gets out for close to nothing.

His style of play just isn't going to get him heaps of runs consistently outside the subcontinent.

Can anyone please confirm whether Kallis now has a better batting average then Teenda after his knock of 160 odd???

Yes but his averages are very poor in SA and NZ. He averages just 26 in SA and 20 in NZ plus he has never scored a century in NZ , his highest score against NZ in NZ is just 48 ( Now that has surprised me as well)

He may be in a lean patch now.But he was consistently scoring runs. When sachin had the same lean patch, everyone wanted his ouster but he came back strongly.Same with ganguly.

Sewag and gilly are once a generation players.Gilly dint perform almost for the whole 2007 world cup till final. In final he made the winning knock.Sewag is similar.Once you find a player is capable of getting big scores outside the subcontinent and in quick time,he is entitled to in my opinion few mistakes. And even in future he totally fails outside india,i would have him always in the side when playing in ind,sl,pak or bangla.

Is that Graham Onions and some random bloke doing punditry on the Sky coverage? Now they're really skimping. I thought Harmison was bad enough!

Every time you watch the Sehwag dismissal it gets worse. The one in the first test at third man could at least be put down to his normal style of play, but this one was sickening. My god.

Sorry in NZ was talking about a fascinating one day innings where he hit 100 odd when score to chase was 200 and the pitch was full seaming.India lost 9 wickets with no one crossing 25.My point it is,he is hugely capable of playing so we should think twice before dropping him

so after.. inzi, lara, anwar, ponting... its now kaliis's turn to throw some challenge to srt.. good though...

I didn't imply he was on a lean patch. He's doing very well at the moment. He just doesn't score consistently big outside the subcontinent. and that goes for the whole of his career.

He's always been good in ODIs, and even in tests I'm not suggesting India drop him. It's just the fact that I personally don't rate him as high as the other Indian batsmen, despite the general consensus. He just doesn't score consistently good outside the subcontinent. There's no two ways looking about it. And away, it's extremely important that you do score consistently and see off the new ball, thus reducing the chance of a middle order collapse. But Sehwag rarely does this. Both Tendulkar and Laxman are more valuable to the Indian team. If Dravid was in any sort of form he probably would be too. Heck I even rate Gambhir over Sehwag, who I believe will be a success outside the subcontinent soon enough when he recaptures his form again.

Sehwag proving once again that he's the biggest FTB in the indian batting lineup.
