You would expect India to chase this sort of target 7 or 8 times out of 10.

Would be an easy chase if we can bowl SA before 150 , anything over 200 would require somedoing

Wow! Just checked the score and Saffers are 6 down for 130 with a lead of just 128 so far. India surely must be sensing a win here with probably even chasing around 250 around if so they'll be confident of doing so. Depends how the wicket will play on the 5th day as Steyn may get some balls to keep low and Harris some spin.

to be fair, it's only Paul Harris. He averages nearly 40 with the ball in test cricket.

South Africa's only chance of winning lies with Steyn and Morkel with the new ball.

Anything over 150 is challenging on this pitch. India would have to bat out of their skins for it

Why is Ishant Sharma in the team? He has been clueless in all three matches (save a small spell in the first innings).

Sharma is possibly the worst bowler to come out of the sub-continent in the recent past. Pathetic bowling this..

He has been like that most of his career barring a few spells

Yeah, so I noticed. And to think the talented Umesh Yadav is warming the bench.

Or for that matter Praveen Kumar, who is easily one of the best swing bowlers we have.

This giraffe is good for nothing, really.

When India is chasing, Sehwag needs to play his natural game and attack at all opportunities. If he clicks, India will canter home, otherwise Dravid/Laxman will have to consolidate. (I don't think Sachin will get much in the 2nd innings)

If Laxman is there with only 2-3 wickets in hand and 70 odd runs remaining he still has the ability to pull it off.

Praveen is low on pace, thats his problem. BCCI needs to concentrate more on developing talent at the grassroot level,.

Boucher is batting with the right approach of attacking. He can score some priceless runs here.

sirjee!

Boucher playing the right way here postivley. Kallis will just sit in i guess and only up the tempo when he needs to.

Boucher and Kallis partnership will determine the course of the series.

150 lead, SA have the upper hand now. Some ordinary bowling from Ishant. Has looked in no rhythm at all. No pace, no control.

Boucher playing a priceless knock. Could turn out to be the difference. Need to dislodge him ASAP.

Who would you prefer being at the end batting with tail enders, Laxman or Tendulkar?

Dont go that far . Tendulkar is the best bat in this match . Laxman and Dravid have a very poor record on this ground while Tendulkar has an excellent one . Sachin will only need one batsman to hold another end and they will finish the target . Just as they ( Sachin/Yuvraj) did against England in the match that i showed you

lol, how do you guys come to such conclusions? 150 is not enough for such a strong batting attack. I think anything below 250 is easy to chase. 250-300 is competitive. Anything over 300 will be difficult.

This series has been much more exciting than Ashes. Too bad it is only 3 tests.

I think Boucher will go after Sardarji here so it will either be alot of runs or a wicket coming up!

4th innings, series on the line, Steyn and Morkel on a pitch with so much of variable bounce. We will need all the luck in the world to hunt down even 150+ leave alone 200.

What is the ideal test batting average for a wicket keeper? Isn't 30 a bit too low for a guy like Boucher who has played 139 tests?

I would tend to agree.

Less than 250 and its India's game to lose.

Over 300 - and SA are in pole position.

As things stand, barring a minor miracle, I see India victors sometime tomorrow. SA are too heavily reliant on Steyn and on the new ball. Their back-up attack is particularly average against this strong batting line-up.

Is Kallis the new immovable object? Looks like it will again need a magic delivery like what Sree bowled in the last test to dislodge him.

There was a poster who was saying he hasn't ever seen :kallis perform in pressure situations. He is batting now not just in a pressure situation, but with an injury too.

Man Morkel is overhyped. He only bowled well in one innings because of the bounciness of the track. Only one to worry is Steyn. You are worried cause of how SA are batting but you have to remember that Bhaji is a good spinner with such conditions. Harris.....less said the better :))

I like Sreesanth as a bowler. He may not have had the best series statistically, but he has played a big part in the drama that has unfolded

No yaar. Taller bowlers tend to extract more out of tracks with variable bounce and multiple indentations. IMO Morkel will be a bigger threat than Steyn on the day 4/5 track.

I dont think Harris has lot of matches left in his career especially if Imran Tahir does well.

I am sure he will bowl well but I personally see him threatening enough to the big guns.

South African tail already wagged in the 1st innings, highly unlikely it will wag again in 2nd innings.

Dhoni needs to calm down the players a little bit. They are looking a little too eager. Just be patient, restrict the flow of runs and wickets will surely come. Comeon India.

This is what a hardcore contest is like, something which was too hot for Mr T20 Afridi to handle.

Is Dhoni behind the over rate?

Nope, 41 overs bowled for the day in a little under 3 hours. Good enough especially considering the breaks we have had due to the physio attending to Kallis' back injury a few times.

He heard you. Lecturing Sreesanth at drinks :))
