South Africa v Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Johannesburg | 4th April 2021 | South Africa innings

Faheem is not a death bowler.

It was established in the T20s.

It will now be established in ODIs.

I clicked on post by mistake.

To add to my above post, Hassan definitely walks into this bowling attack. I don’t think he has much of a future in Test cricket in spite of the 10-fer, but he is definitely our best white ball bowler after Shaheen.

Miller tucking in to Faheem... this is always possible with his type of bowling.

Just don't understand Shadab's role in the team - is he that good a bat? As he's an ineffectual bowler, surely a specialist front line spinner would do a better job in this role.
Then you have very weak Batting line up. Shadab is atleast good enough to get you 30 35 runs.

Poor captaincy by Babar to give the ball to Faheem in an awkward situation.

Should have bowled him out earlier.

Missing Amir today. Without him it is an inconsistent bowling attack. With him, it's world-class.

350 is about par for this surface and ground.

Simple fix, keep Bavuma on strike.

His power hitting is levels below Miller's.

Restrict the flow of runs.

Yorkers, yorkers, yorkers.

Who bowls length in the 46th over?

Pathetic stuff to see.

When you don't need to bowl Faheem and you have in your opinion a death over specialist (Harris), why bowl Faheem?! He has done his job in the middle overs . . why are our captains incapable of just regular thinking . .not even smart . . just regular . .

Saw Shadab first fielding at slip . . then midwicket . . and Imam at point . . What?!

What kind of batting line up is this . . do they think Danish is good enough to be batting at 5? What happens if this batting line up is 50/3 . . which we are more often than not . .

Unreal . . people talk about talent (or lack thereof) to justify our mediocrity . . In my opinion, lack of brains is the number 1 reason . . if we just get some smart, thinking people . . who know how to set fields . . how to make plans . .hell, how to select teams . . we will start winning a lot more than we do! guaranteed!

Imam is a left-hander so he is more natural at point because he does not have to turn around to throw. He is a good fielder and made some decent plays today. Fielding has not been the problem tbh. Lack of a main spinner is the bigger issue.

Agreed about Faheem and Haris tho.

It’s par for this ground and this particular wicket. Pakistan is the only team in the world against par score will never matter.

That's my point. Par scores mean nothing to pak. Even if SA scored 200, pak would lose 8 wickets in getting over the line

I think your pace attack is fine, don't see much wrong with Shaheen,Hasnain and Rauf . The problem is 4th and 5th option which can get exposed on pitches like this .

Your best fielder fields at point regardless of which arm he throws with . . Imam is not even half the fielder Shadab is . . Not saying the fielding has been bad . . but its just a wrong tactical play

Faheem had been our best pacer today. It’s not his fault the fifth bowler is getting exposed to set batsmen in the 46th over.

If we win by 2 wkts who cares aslong as we win. Yes our poor batting will be tested here.

Asif Ali is slowly getting better in fielding, shame no improvement in batting though.
Pakistan bowlers have pulled the match back in my opinion, shame for that Fahim no ball 12 runs. This is easily 350 pitch, and they may still get that.

Dont know why anyone is surprised joberg is a 300 + wicket

300+ scores are more or less the norm in odis .

The last couple of overs have been good from us. It was looking like theyll get 360

I have been following pak for a very long time. I watched the whole series in England when 300 plus played 300 plus and pak were always on the losing end.
Pakistan have momentum from the last game. SA are under pressure to win and if Fakhar or Babar get going then it's gonna be hard to come back for them in these conditions.

Despite Mamoon's usual D&G I think Hasnain and Haris Rauf are developing fine, and bowled quite well for their first tour of SA and lack of general domestic experience.

QDk and Miller have shown their intentions clear before going to the IPL.

Shaheen is absolute garbage with the old ball. Waqar Younis has done absolutely nothing with him.
