Sri lanka have started the tourney well and are been tipped by many pundits to go all the way in the tourney. There team seems well drilled, well balanced and pretty confident. The bowling attack seems to have good balance and variety. The batting does depend on jayasuriya/thuranga giving team a flying start and at times batting can crumble. The abscence of Big hitter down order maybe a worry.

S.A are ranked number 1 side in world but came unstuck in last game v Aussies. having zero points to start super 8s another loss would be big blow for S.A. Sri lanka have had upper hand between two sids in last 10 meetings or so. The games balance thou could depend on pitch.

Guyana is said to be hot and humid so what about the pitch? if it seams around it should favour S.A and it pitch is hard and dry the Sri lanka may take a fancy to it.

If weather holds up we could have a very good game between to evenly matched sides.

Yeah!! Lets hope Jaya gets set. It would over before the second half starts then.

It will probably be a rehearsal for the Semis or even the final, will be a great game tomorrow.

it will be a rehaearsal for the semis, aus and sri lanka will be in the finals

dont mean to dampen your spirit...but guyana is known for large amounts of rain. Even if it is in the dry season.......being on the south american mainland causes that.

there is a saying that in guyana when you want rain to fall just put up 6 stumps and
4 bails. So bad it is weather wise in guyana. Hope that Im wrong.

Apparently the ground is empty according to BBC. Those watching on TV, can you spot any spectators?

actually their innings is going exactly same way against India the other day. I gues they will ended up around 240-250. but, the big question is whether SA batting will collapse like India's.. I doubt.

I think the spinners should stop now. These 2 spinners are 6 and 7 bowlers. They have used up Kallis (#5) and Pollock's (#1) overs.

50 for russell arnold.

well batted.

2 overs to go..

why is it that SL always plays on the slow pitches where 250 is a good score? And Aus has only been getting the easy paced 300 pitches? It seems like there is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes at ICC/WCB.

Mahroof gone now!

superb over from langavedlt. 2nd wicket in over.

His 4th off the inns.

S.l 208/8 after 48.5

out first ball for Vaas. He hits it straight down long on's throat. 3 wicket maiden!

Vass gone 1st ball! slogs bal down ground and is out caught!

triple wicket maiden from langveldt!

208/9 after 49 overs..

What fielding. A direct hit from point by Pollock and Murali is run out.

Superb fielding by Pollock to end inns.

Sri lanka 209 all out.

Sri lanka lose last 4 wickets for just 1 run!!!

Great bowling and fielding peformance from the Saffers. I expect them to win this by about 6 or 7 wickets with Smith and De villiers in form.

it's not goin' to be an easy match...cant say anything right now..but to me Sri-lanka got good bowler's..and their fielding is very under-rated...i'll say Srilanka to win :)

Very big ask for SL to defend a low total, Smith is still in, once he settles, his 5o will be in no time, i'm hoping murli can do the business but still a big ask.

25-1

Smith 17 - Kallis 6

5 Overs gone

76-1

14 over

Smith make his 50

Games all over for SL

Malinga back on to bowl.

Smith playing beautifully, Kallis his usual dour self. Murali is Lankan's final ace with a scary first over.
of course there is no way to restrict the scoring, they have attack to try and bowl the South Africans out.

Murali brilliantly gets Smith out stumped!

Murali at his majestic best here...!

(genuine question)

do people think this game is still in the balance now or is it still going to be SA's win??

Ingenious cricket from Murali and Sangakarra...3 or 4 more wickets before the 150 comes up and they have every chance.

SA have got too many runs on the board for the remaining overs or the RRR to be a problem...now its all about how many wickets are preserved or lost.

Malinga back and pressure seesm to have beeb released.

S.A 115/2

Sangakarra has imense ability how he reads muralis doosra.

Should be an easy win for SA. Thus they'll stay top of the ICC and get the money. :)

RRR is around 3.0 with 8 wickets left. Sometimes is helps having boring Kallis to be the rock in an innings. 53 runs so far of 60 balls.
