They have crumbled again. what a wasted effort. They could be short by 35-40 runs. 250+ here would have been wonderful.

Too much expectations have taken the toll on Pollard. WI as a whole has been disappointing. I can't see their bowlers making early inroads which means that this game is gone for them.

How does his height change the trajectory of the ball?

Being a South African myself i wouldn't want to explain it to you as i know it would result in an argument or debate. If it wasn't SA playing or if it was SA batting you would've deff understood. I don't know if you heard what Nasser Husain said when hawkeye showed it hittig the stumps

W.I playing good cricket followed by shambolic cricket! Typical stuff from them.

I can see S.A chasing this with ease later on!

Bravo run out the turning point.Windies had a platform there for Pollard to attack in the last 6 overs.

West Indies 222/9 (47.2 ov)

South Africa

South Africa won the toss and elected to field

* West Indies RR 4.69
* Batting PP 9/1 (2.2) RR 3.85
* Last 5 ovs 13/3 RR 2.60

So this was the match i was looking forward to since the start of the tournament.
What a waste. :pissed:

So Africans are always start good to be choked :D

Windies look so like us :)

S.A need 223 to win.

I recon they will win by 7 wickets.

I can assure you that my allegiance has nothing to do with the question, so please go ahead and explain it :)

No matter how tall or short a batsman is, the ball would have pitched in the same spot, hit in the batsman in the same spot and therefore follow the same trajectory since the two initial points of reference are the same.

Whenever a ball hits a player,even as short as Tendulkar above knee roll,it's said that 'it would've gone above the stumps' & usually given not out. If you look at where it hit Pollard and he's very tall,with the naked eye you would think it's going over. Also hawkeye isn't always able to determine the amount of bounce every pitch has & would sometimes show the ball going over when it isn't + vice versa. If you watch cricket alot,many times commentators are 'shocked' at what hawkeye shows & many have said hawkeye isn't accurate. This particular one wasn't a shocker but also wasn't accurate

Commentators should stick to cricket and leave the science to the scientists.

With two points of reference (i.e. where the ball pitches and where it hits the batsman), the bounce factor is eliminated. With these two points you can also determine how much movement there would be.

On the point of hitting a batsman on the knee role, using your logic, we could have a 2 foot tall batsman coming in, and if the ball hits him above the knee role then he can't be out. The rules say nothing about hitting above or below the knee role for a reason - that's just something that commentators use as a rough estimate for an average size batsman.

lol now it seems like every team is going to open with a spinner

Did you see JoDon a thread has been created on how wrong hawkeye is,i'm sure you'd want to have a say there lol

Roach struggling with his lines, Amla getting freebies in the legside.

ahhhh, mistimed pull from Amla, just short of square leg in the circle!

and he's :out

inside edge and a stunning catch from the keeper!
