Shoaib was playing in the last series.....got some crucial wickets as well. Bowled well.

pollock get dravid some 99 runs short of his usual score... well done pollock, 400 victims and counting to the baboon ear red head.

This is perfect opportunity for both teams to win in SA. Remember they haven't won a test series after WC apart from against Windies.

he hardly score 100s.

7.5 Nel to Sehwag, OUT, This time Sehwag makes no mistake! fuller length delivery outside the off stump. Sehwag just opens the face of the bat and runs it straight into the safe hands of Gibbs who was placed between third slip and gully. That's Nel's second wicket of the innings.

what the hell? no mistake :20:

ah well... 300 thats the lead we ought to accumulate at the very least. our top two bats are out there now, lets see what they do.

Dont write off SA.

Plenty of twists and turns left in this match yet !

I think we can do without his contribution in this match....for we know he will make up in the rest of the series!

aint gonna happen. mark my words, tendulkar and ganguly are both two men on a mission.

yeah i know which means no chance for safies. Always give India better chance in test series even after disaster ODIs. Because SA apart from against Windies haven't won a test series after WC.

they beat NZ !

Every shot by Ganguly feels like a hammer knock on Chappels and Dravid balls(between the legs).

Dont think so. he was thrown out because of his lax attitude coupled with his weaknesses. He has worked hard on it and now deserves his place in the team. The lay off has done him good.
After the warm up match chappel had him give a pep talk to the team about the way to handle bounce and also paid special attention to him in net practise. Was all praise for him.

Given the state of the wicket and the way they have been written off, the Indian middle order have been superb in this test. South Africa's dismal reply on a pitch that should really have been better suited to their bowlers and batsmen, puts into perspective just how well India have played in this game.

277 lead with 6 wickets remaining. Where have all the 'lol scoring at 2 an over crappy India batting' users gone?

285/5 dhoni quick fire 50s and india is set to win this match. And if they win the test they are at least sure of draw series.

Ganguly gone, but played his part !

284 lead....can we get 100 more ?

Can't see us chasing more than 300 sadly.......doubt you will need another 100.

Hiding behind the bush - :)) :)) The quality of Indian batsmen was the stand out factor in this test match .. I don't think Pakistan will fare well in SA ..bcoz although their bowling is really good - the batting is very brittle and almost none of them can play on lively tracks .. I will be happy if I am proved wrong

To be honest even a lead of 350 would be safe. Usually 350 is more than enough to defend on a decent pitch in the 4th innings, and this isnt that decent a pitch.

Well I think Indian batsmen vs Saffie pacers has been a good contest between bat and ball - the people that wrote India off after the first session are probably armchair supporters and products of the 'one day era' who think you have to score at 5 an over regardless of conditions. 250 was a good score and the Indian batsmen approached the game professionally and compiled their total well.

I know we can get your team for less than 200..but you see 3 more days left , our batsmen spending more time in the middle will help us in the series! :)

Dhoni isnt hanging around, and Laxman is playing a classical test innings. Looks like these two could seal the Saffies' fate.

If SA had ended up batting again at some point today, then all or part of all 4 innings would have taken place on one day. I haven't seen that happen since England v West Indies at Lord's over 6 years ago - has it?

I am surprised it took this long for Springboks to be exposed - their batting line up is a joke in all honesty -

It has been a bit of a joke for a while - the difference is that this time, the lower middle order and tailenders weren't there to bail them out.

Wide out side off stump.........

This is what South African medium pace bowling is about not fast as their commentators were on all the time they only had one quick bowler and he is AD . If they were brave they would have bowled at stump to stump and not so wide in indians first innings.

Well done indians .So much for chin music from South Africans.

Albert Einstein :

This reminds me of that seinfeld episode where they were discussing explorers.

JERRY: So I guess it's fair to say you've set different goals for yourself than say, Thomas Edison, Magellan, these types of people.
GEORGE: Magellan? You like Magellan?
JERRY: Oh, yeah,. My favourite explorer. Around the world. Come on.
GEORGE: Who do you like?
GEORGE: I like DeSoto.
JERRY: DeSoto? What did he do?
GEORGE: Discovered the Mississippi.
JERRY: Oh. like they wouldn't have found that anyway.

i agree with u, i mean Nitni who is their fastest bowler hardly touch 140 mark but he will get bounce because of he's action and hight.

lets think abt today, tomorrow as it comes .sree took a 5 wkt haul which put India on the driver's seat.remember this stuff has come from a bowler who has written completely off by Sarfraz .his spell was very impressive,on target almost every ball.i am not sure whether he would continue this form.but for the time being he did it fantastically and one should learn to appreciate it regardless of nationality.we all did when Asif did that against india at karachi.

no quarrels with that. Except, please don't take nay Sarfraz says seriously anymore. He may fluke out and be right sometimes, but usually....no.

I'm sure Arthur's regretting his comment now. Out for 84!

South Africa set to unleash pace battery

South Africa have released Jacques Rudolph and Paul Adams to play for their franchises as they whittled the squad down to 12 for the opening Test which starts at the Wanderers on Friday. Ahead of an afternoon training session on Wednesday, Mickey Arthur, the coach, spoke of how his team would attack India with pace, on pitches that would aid a five-man fast-bowling line-up.

Arthur admitted that the team management had already been in touch with the groundsmen, and intimated what sort of surfaces they were looking for in the Test series. "We want pitches with pace and bounce, and not too much grass," he said.

thats crazy talk. just because a controversial umpire pulls aside a bowler who later has his own share of controversies, all umpires are suddenly malevolent rascals! heck no! infact, india's boogyman umpires have been asoka de silva and bucknor. hardly *****.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gibbs gone!, Saffies 0/1!.

1 down 9 to go!.

SA reeling from Sreesanths breakdance attack...

Writing on the wall - well played India.

After hitting the 6, Sreesanth did a "in your face" victory dance whirling his bat around and shaking his booty. Nel ate the humble pie and quietly walked away. Alex Wilkins, the commentator says, Sreesanth has surely been watching lot of Bollywood movies :-)

whaaa???

ok explain again. this is whay i gained, that after hitting nel for a boundary, sreesanth, complete in pads, gloves and helmet did some poor booty shake to rub it in? if he did, i must congratulate him on becoming the first player to successfully gloat after a boundary (and not have his offstump uprooted with a brilliant leg cutter... err... sohail style)!

OUUUUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Smith gone!

2 down, 8 to go!!!

Meanwhile Umpires doing all they can to save SA, changes the ball after only 8 overs LMFAOOOOOOOOO

Great performance from India in this match, they have generally dominated but when SA threatened to get back into the match they have wrestled back the initiative. Looks like this can only go one way - Kumble hasn't even bowled yet!
