this is why i hate them and admire the aussies. the aussies are graceful and benevolent in defeat (though they sure dont lose that much) and humble in victory. yeah ponting shoved pawar off the stage but he is a true gentleman. a lot more than what i can say about the rascist proteans.

LOL, you're one of the first non-Ozzies (and probably Ozzies) to use the words "graceful", "benevolent", humble" and "Ponting" in the same sentence mate. :))

Personally, I think Ponting's a bit too arrogant for his own good, but the rest of them are alright I reckon. They learned humility in 2005, which was a good thing.

ha ha, nah i like the bloke. but i admired steve more. actually met him once, when australia toured india for the first edition of the gavaskar-border trophy under mark taylor.

infact my little brother met the entire team that series at the Le Meredian in New Delhi. He said save for Reiffel who was a bit arrogant, the rest were true gentlemen.

Bit off topic, but this is the way the OZ play the game:

From Alastair Cook on his innings yesterday:
It's a massive challenge playing against Warne. He uses his personality to impose himself as well as his technique. Every time he goes up for an appeal he seems totally convinced that he's going to win the decision. But when I got to my hundred he was straight over to congratulate me. That's the way the Aussies play their cricket: they're tough but they respect people who give them a battle.

yeah i do agree with cook there. i think it is a matter of legacy, australia have virtually always been the best, except for a few years when the west indians were downright bullies, and i guess as a result the aussies have learnt how to handle success and show humility in victory.

lol @ VRV just proving such a useless he is...just one wicket in the whole match & leaking runs bigtime ..pathan certanly wud have been beter than him!

we need munaf back for the next match..kick jaffer also out Ghambir anyday better!

SA on 262/8 the highest score of the match. And that to in 4th innings. Had they bated like this in first innings match could have been interesting. But right now only India can win.

ah... vrv is losing his radar. this is whay i meant by being mentally tough. you cant be mentally tough when you are only 21 something and have hardly tasted success or failure in equal measure. only those who can stand the meat grinder can make it at the highest level.

India made the right decision lo left phatan. Vrv is good bowler but young.

Can Prince do a Hussey and put on a 100+ with the last two batsmen? He'll have to score about 90 of those and just make sure he protects the bunnies from the strike.

Answer is NO lol Kumble cleaned him up. 10 and Jack are in.

actually india is bowling with a lot less vigor. notice the short spells for both sreesant and zaheer. they are being preserved for the two tests ahead. besides they are giving vrv an opportunity to get a bowl. to further prove this point notice that the top order of south africa fell victim to zaheer and sreesanth rather cheaply in both innings. a sign that neither has abated and nor has the batting improved, its just that they are being rested. no need to burn them out when you know that the wicket machine i.e. kumble will win this for you. just a matter of time.

next match when munaf returns in place of vrv, the bowling will be more potent.

ah hell... prince thoroughly deserved his century. he was a class apart from all the batsmen from either side, with the exception of laxman. nevertheless, brilliant innings. a see a bright future for him! maybe he will become the first permanent black captain to lead south africa, and not just some stop gap arrangement.

The fat lady is ready to burst into song...

This will be a fantastic win for India, very well deserved after a rough month in Africa.

3 test..expect the next two to be a close contest...I hope they don give us flat pitches !

Captaincy is fairly innocuous on the part of Smith. Pollock should have opened the bowling. But all in all their top order is as bad as any top order in the world formwise.

Congrats to me, my fellow indian fans and ofcourse team India, great job well doneeeee BOYZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ now bring the series home......

Arthur is doing a fantastic job. 8th loss under his coaching with just 2 wins.

Yesterday there was an interesting discussion over how the team with almost same blokes performed soo much differently under Shaun Pollock compared to how they are doing under G.Smith.
Symcox indirectly pointed to Graeme Smith.

spare a thought for Ashwell Prince. He deserved his century. he batted with such confiction. i hate the game for its irony. he who stands the tallest, often stands alone...

kudos india, very well played south africa.

congratulations pollock on your 400th victim!!

Well played India! Fantastic win under the circumstances.

Indians have now beaten Australia in Australia , Pakistan in Pakistan (although Pakistan returned the favour in the next series ) , WI in WI and now SA in SA ...Things are looking good for India
