What's new

South Africa vs India , 1st Test , The Wanderers Stadium

India playing like a team possessed!!! Sehwag's catch to dismiss Smith was absolutely brilliant!!! either its chapell pulling all stops to prove that he can transform a good team into one of the best or maybe its time for a round of "random internal drug testing".

India look well on there way to winning their first ever test in SA.

Come on Hashim, we need a special knock from you.

I'll try my best.

by the way, watching South Africa bat is less stimulating/interesting than watching paint dry.

Yesssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!, yesssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, COME ONE!!!!!!!!!!, YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amla gone!

Booty boy strikes again!

3 down, 7 to go!!!

Hashim Amla is quite possiby the most boring batsman i've ever watched. Thank goodness he's out.

Well with Kallis batting it won't be too entertaining.

Not just talking about Kallis.

The entire team, I think they are possibly the most boring team on this planet.

Amla is not only boring, he's rubbish as well.

Kallis might be dour but he is at least good, and he is about SA's last chance now.

7-fer and counting for Sreesanth - I must ask what are the best bowling figures to date by an Indian in a test match in South Africa?

ah he was talking to hashim amla... but whatever, the dearly departed hashim amla or hash... both irrelevant now.

I'm far from helpless mate

Gangers into the attack - hits Kallis with his opening ball but then goes for some boundaries - mixed over!

10-110

venkatesh prasad in his first test match in south africa and only his third overseas.

Sreesanth has 7-55 at the mo - another few wickets and we could see a new record.

with respect to the possible influence you can have on the outcome of this match, you are about as irrelevant as phew... out of metaphors at the moment... ah an epiphany!! "as irrelevant as a twenty dollar bill in the hands of neil patrick harris in the middle of the most hedonistic bordello"

Whippy said:

yeah but i want prasad to hold onto his record. i think its also the best figures for an indian fast bowler outside india (unless there is something about the harayana hurricane i dont know about).

Ok mate.

Anyway, we are now 55 for 3. Another 347 to win.

I last posted almost 20 minutes ago and in that time we have scored a massive 5 runs

curious... would south africa chasing down this total be the more impressive victory in comparison to england chasing down their target on day 5?

I don't think so. If England win it will be bigger shock just like 2nd test. But both teams are set to lose the test matches and in England case the ashes.

We'll lose here at The Wanderers but we will win in Perth.

Interesting that all 3 current Tests are likely to be decided tommorrow, with all three batting team under severe pressure.

New Zealand will attempt to avoid defeat against a determined Sri Lankan side, England against a relentless Australian team, and South Africa against a spirited Indian team.

You don't fancy the chances of any of the batting teams, but whilst there is life there is hoipe.

man that is really lame... i would root for australia anyday, except maybe when they are playing india and bangladesh (i kinda like to go with the underdog), but i do want the ashes to stay aline. it would be a rather unceremonious end to the whole build up. england is desperately low on confidence and also strauss should not be gambling any time soon. his fortune is on vacation.

lol what a coincidence all three teams are chasing big targets and none of them look to win.

in all the instances, except in the case of australia, the relatively insipid bowling attack is calling the shots.

Man i am so glad that Sreesanth is doing well....i always rated him highly and believe it or not i really like his attitude as well( sometimes he goes OTT but still it's good for the game)

Yesssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kallis gone!!!, massive blow for the Saffies!

Sree has doen it again!, great bowling!!!

4 down, 6 to go!!!

GOPU GETS KALLIS......they are all dancing down the streets of Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Sreesanth nagr....their boys have done them proud!

I always rated Sreesanth after I saw him bowl in Malaysia. I wondered why he was in and out of the side.

This will be a massive humiliation for the Jaaps if they lose this, after all the trash talking about chin music, they can't handle it themselves! :)))

117/4! At the moment they are looking to make 250 at maximum. Only if they had bated like this in first innings the match could have been more interesting.

Suicidal under the circumstances. SA showing their lack of temperament.

SA only have one game plan. Hit visiting teams with fast bouncy pitches and then hope for the best. If it works - great - if it doesnt - well they have NO plan B!

What we need to do now....

1. Get through the last 17 overs without losing another wicket. (possible)
2. Get through to lunch tomorrow without losing another wicket (highly unlikely)
3. Try to get about 130 or 140 runs in this time (knowing South Africa, also highly unlikely)

THEN India will lose the plot and we will win this match, but the above three all have to happen

Why not just play till they won?

What country you are actually from!! South Africa or Pakistan? By the sound of it coming from the country ANTI INDIA!

SA 135-5. need 267 more
a big ct behind appeal not given. some left handed batsman, maybe prince

SA are not quite Pakistan though. :D

I think he compeltely misses the point. You have to see whole innings not just half innings like 39 for 6. Here whole innings is 84 all out.

Yeah 84 is just to low. Even though India couldn't pass 250 but still set the target of 400.

end of the day. last over another big appeal for ct behind not give. I don't know if there was an edge or not. this time Boucher

2 clear ct behinds for sree n atleat 3-4 lbw's of zheers bowling turned down by umpires....now wonder subcontinent teams have poor record in SA !

Even the umpires can't save SA in this one. They have played abysmally and deserve a heavy beating.

lbw's are ok but 2 clear catch behinds not given? :| i think there must be something here. u watched match live?

England need 292 runs with 5 wickets in hand and SA need 239 runs with same amount of wickets. Who have better chance?

England because it is a good pitch. Both have next to no chance though.

we are in a good position here , so it dosen hurt much...imaginedefending a target of around 200 and 5-6 decisions goes against you ? ....its not just about this match..the second match cud be lot closer & umpires cud save the game for SA then !

yup ,two clear edges of boucher n prince not given..once each by harper n benson!

I still think england can win this one ;;only flintoff needs to support KP. :)

I would expect that from Harper because he loves SA, but Benson? I am ashamed. He gave English cricket a good name in Pak v WI, I hope he doesn't make many more bad decisions. This is a guy that could be umpiring the biggest non-England test series in a few years!

jusarrived said:

what will probably happen is the people surrounding KP will play like crap and not fill him with confidence, so he feels like he has to attack the Aussies himself and that's when he gets out, meaning we lose. As so often has happened in this series. They need to learn how to support their best player like the Aussies middle/lower order did for Steve Waugh!

Probably the only match i ever seen where the decisions where 100% correct not only when they given out but also when they didn't was in Karachi in Pak vs WI match. And Benson and harper were the umpires.

offcourse the odds are against england...but if england manage to get the target under 200 with KP n flintoff still batting ,their bowling will be under lot of pressure...oz bowling is pretty ordinary ,except for warne though ...I wud say 35:65 in favour of aus !

actually benson has been pretty decent...one or two mistakes is acceptable...only harper seems to be ona mission to sscrew us!

The Indian bowlers deserve credit for their performance in this test match. The length they have bowled most of the time has been spot.

Instead the Saffie bowlers barring Pollock bowled too short and thus paid the price.

Only a miracle or bad weather can save the home team now.

you making me nervous bro , its happend last time we toured SA :(

We certainly have a better chance of winning than England.

Put it this way, if we can get through to lunch without losing a wicket things will get very interesting and I can see India capitulating. However it is more than likely that India will get an early wicket tomorrow and we will just amble together another 50 or 75 runs.

Saffie should've been 7down at the end of day. but they were lucky. once Prince and then Boucher. still they cannot escape the inevitable loss.

fantasitical demands i must say. not only do you want south africa to survive the entire first session, something neither team has achieved so far, but score at more than 4 an over to achieve 130-140 runs in the first session.

so let me get this, beat the best partnership in this match so far by atleast 60 runs and not lose a wicket? doubt devine intervention can help.

Man...........South Africa should have been 7 down only for the umpire........who knows what might happen know, although India have got this match in the bag, if SA can bat for 1 session tommorow adding another 90 runs without losing a wicket, India will begin to panic and all South Africa will have to do is be patiant with another 5 sessions to go, a lot of time to score 160 odd runs.

well i said 130 runs in the last 17 overs of the day and the 1st session together........not difficult at all.

If it is such a fantasy then you have nothing to worry about do you.

and the better batting, and the better south african: kevin pietersen :D

nah i m just kidding, i really want england to win, even though i am an australian supporter, for i do not want the ashes to be decided so insipidly.

no its coz theyre ****.. stop whinging like an indian

This match is realistically done. Pollock isn't a defensive player - he's going to give chances to the Indian attack.

What a humiliation for the Jaapies! They need a dose of humility anyway. I saw an interview with Smiffy where he was talking about how they were planning to crush India and give them heaps of chin music. Maybe they should've practiced against chin music themselves. :))

this is why i hate them and admire the aussies. the aussies are graceful and benevolent in defeat (though they sure dont lose that much) and humble in victory. yeah ponting shoved pawar off the stage but he is a true gentleman. a lot more than what i can say about the rascist proteans.
