No, they did not.india_fan said:SA is a weak team ?
LOL! They beat Pakistan 2-0 when they toured Pak last year didn't they ? SA are proving that they are adapting to subcontinent conditions pretty effectively.

neither michael clark nor ponting are playing in this game...who u referring to???OZGOD said:Woeful keeping from Boucher, could've run Bumpcatcher out but Boucher was daydreaming!

yeah the S African spin option was very poor. If they had a spinner as good as V Sehwag then we might have seen a better contest.OZGOD said:That was key, but the 10th wicket partnership between Sreesanth and Sharma was crucial (60 runs).

What is wrong with you man...are you having your period or something?..no reason to bring any of this up...

Well, India won against the same team earlier in South Africa on a seaming pitch. Also, South Africa won the third test in that series on what was a slow and turning pitch.Savak said:South Africans beat the Indians in conditions which suited them in the second test and the Indians beat the South Africans in the third test in conditions which suited them. In the end, Indians cant match the Saffies in seaming conditions and the Saffies are no match for India in spinning conditions. Thus both teams evenly matched in the end.
Who's Tendy?Perth93 said:the positives:
1.ganguly showing the other more talented bats the fighter he is.
2. ishant proving he can bowl unfazed on dusty tracks.
3. sreesanth buckling down and batting like a veteran
4. morne impressing everyone with his potential.
the negatives:
1. Ishant not taking a 6fer.
2. bhajji getting cheap wicktes and cementing his undeserved test spot.
3. Indian media getting another chance to forget past failures and gloat over immediate success.
4. Still no solution to the opening conundrum - who after Jaffer? bring back Akash chopra I'd say. Gambhir is another wafter.
Did anyone miss Tendy btw?

India was missing their premium batsman for a good part of the series. He was their top scorer in the past couple of series . In the first couple of tests, Ishanth wasn't there. RP wasn't match fit. And the whole team was coming into the series after a long tour in Australia.f.b.m said:I'd still say that overall, SA were the better side throughout the series.
I see what you mean, but Sachin and Zaheer were both injured due to cricketing reasons (not getting hit by a bus, or tripping over a rock) so the fact that they're injured counts against them. Overall, I dont care about who isnt playing or what might have happened if xyz wasnt injured. Its the playing XI that matters.invincible said:India was missing their premium batsman for a good part of the series. He was their top scorer in the past couple of series . South Africa I felt were better prepared for the series and were fresh into their cricket season after couple of tours against Bangladesh and Pakistan who are relatively weaker compared to us. Ofcourse, presenting the other side of the coin, they did cope well with all the off field issues.
Also, nothing taken away from the proteas. They were excellent and gave an excellent fight till the last day of the series. Just pointing out an additional point you may not have considered while coming to the above conclusion.
You got the wrong side of what I meant. When a premium player is missing along with the captain, you saw India raise their game and go on to win the test. Would the same have happened with South Africa had Steyn and Smith missed a test ? Its arguable. But proof from the past (like the 1st test in the India-South africa series when Steyn got injured) suggests they may not have done what India did.f.b.m said:I see what you mean, but Sachin and Zaheer were both injured due to cricketing reasons (not getting hit by a bus, or tripping over a rock) so the fact that they're injured counts against them. I say that SA were the better (slighlty better) team because these were extremely hot and humid conditions that they had to adapt to and their fielding standards rarely dropped, pacers were still bowling extremely quick, etc, etc..... ... well, that and ridiculous margin of victory in the 2nd test.
Sure do !f.b.m said:Oh, ok. Goes to show that India deserves its #2 Ranking.
tmac4real said:Haha everything Dhoni touches turns to Gold it seems. Hand him the reigns to the test side and India win in 3 days. not saying it was entirely his doing, but he's got good luck.
Yes ,i will give full credit to Dhoni for this test win .One person can change the whole matters so quickly .Megadeth said:It was gr8 captaincy...!!... I don't think kumble or dravid or even ganguly would entrust sehwag with the ball so early into the innings... the rest would've shuffled all the main bowlers till they;re dead exhausted and SA have rattled up runs..before turning to the likes of sehwag who;'s massively underrated as a bowling option...dhoni seems to have a knack of tossing the ball to the right ppl...

Opening?tmac4real said:Dhoni is class, IMO karthik should not even be an option to take his place at the keeping post atleast. Have him open if u want to, but leave Dhoni in the team. He (Dhoni) is being groomed to take over the reigns of India fulltime when guys like Kumble/Dravid retire in a couple of yeras.

He is barely keeping his place as a #7 keeper batsman so how do you expect him to survive as an opener?
