The same batsmen were completely embarrassed by a rookie Indian medium pacer. What did you guys expect? This is the level of Pak batsmen. The sad thing is that a Pak team traditionally had one or two fighters who would counter attack. Sadly the batting is so lame and tame.

yeah, batting is not the best anyways and now there are a few young ones.,

14 more needed .. with 2 wickets in hand and some chance of rain .. can Pakistan score 14 ... come on boys you can do it .. make us proud

You will be proud if they avoid follow when the other team scores 253 you are a true Pakistani

FTBs are being well and truly exposed the defensive one paced team MIsdot can't hack has assembled is being ripped to shreds this is pathetic.

just how the doctor ordered we have to reach the nadir to raise our game we are slow starters in tours !listing to Donald "Ramiz" Bradman.
Hays men is just pathetic like Keppeler Wessels!

Lot of people are saying here that we should have attacked rather than defense but that probably because of not understanding the test cricket.

When bowlers are bowling that good, you have to keep few things in mind...
1. Nobody can bowl like that all day, you concentrate a lot harder on every ball, over by over spell by spell...Defense is key part, you have to see of the good bowler... Even today Styne was lot harder to play than others, that means you need to concentrate lot harder on him and try to leave as many as you can. Styne's first spell is very hard (even in that spell, first four are harder than the next 2-3), second will be less harder (he will be bit more tired and ball will swing less).
2. Handling swing is more harder than seam, that's why first 6-8 overs are vital, where ball swing and seam more...
3. The longer you stay, the better you feet move and you can read the line and length better, things get easier... Misbah and Azhar were doing right things... Misbah was playing wrong shot on that ball, he should have left it (again little lapse of concentration and you give away wicket, that's another reason you cannot be aggressive, otherwise you will give wicket on non-wicket taking deliveries... The number 1 goal of a top 6 batsmen is not to gift wicket, which is something you only learn in longer format).
4. You have to keep in mind, you will get scoring opportunity later in the game (in SA after 40 overs, since ball stay harder till that point, where as in sub-contient this period starts after 25 overs), that's the other reason you need to stay till that many overs... If Pakistan need to win test in SA, they need to play lot more overs.

Three batsmen give away their wickets:
1. Jamshed played cross, should have played with straight bat... Early on you just cannot play cross to the bowler of Styne's quality.
2. Misbah played to a ball which was too wide and still swinging, why not wait (again till 35-40 over, that is important).
3. Asad, loose the plot and throw away his wicket, very power for a batsmen... He will learn quickly

These things are still fixable if you have stomach for it...

don't think junaid would survive long..sarfaraj should take matters in his hands

loving the yellow MB Babbar sher LE from JUNAID!

just hanging it out there - hoping it touches the ball....lol

DALEY is a bit too much for this tail I am afraid!

Play positive not attack, guys you have to score 1 and placement, there are four slips you can score singles. Come on man do you know cricket

Pakistan should come back from the tour by saying sorry we cant play so we are going you r the winners dont waste the time by playing with us bye bye south africa

As much as it hurts to see this Pakistan batting, but taking nothing away from Steyn. The guy is world class, and time and time again he shows why. Love the guys bowling.

simply put pak just doesn't have decent batsman the same line up struggled against England in UAE and YK scored only on patta. Accept it, india has better batting line up heck except for BD i guess everyone else have better line up thats why u have to put up with likes of Umar akmal and ahmed shehzad they might not finish but they are better choice then what we have

Even on flat decks this batting line will not get beyond 300.

I can see us being dismissed for below 100 a few times this series

Sarfraz should look to play some big shots try and get past that follow on target

What was Sarfraz doing there. Taking a single and exposing Junaid to 4 balls.

Now let's see how our bowlers bowl ! However, eventually it'll be down to ours batsmen to chase !

i remember laxman's 96 against sa in durban in 10/11 tour.it was a truly hard pitch to bat on and wickets were tumbling around and he played a class innings which swung the match in india's favour.
sorry but pak don't have a batsman of vvs's class.

That was a great innings. Even South African batsmen were struggling at Durban.

Even the Indian team does not have a batsman of Laxman's Durban class now. Tendulkar is a pale shadow of himself and will be swallowed whole if he plays here now. Only Pujara I think has the minimal technique needed to score a 50+ here. Kohli on current form will struggle to reach 20.

If I was Biff I would not enforce the follow on. The batting in the first innings seemed below par and it would be nice to have another long look at the Pakistani bowling.

I thought he is the Greatest bowler at the moment? or did you caught in Ajmalism ??

ajmal is certainly better than him..he can perform on any track unlike Steyn and while I write this Steyn has taken his 5th wicket..what a legend this guy is..respect!!!

rahat ali on debut .. i don't think he will last even 3 balls .. I really hope I am wrong ..

either way he should just swing his bat .. doesn't matter if he gets out ..

Rahat please don't poke at the ball. Go for your shots. Your going to get out anyway!

One of the SA says we will not have to bat fourth on this wicket, may be they will Pakistan will score 300+ in second innings

Paksitan should lose next wicket without making a run,so they push Smith into a false hope for enforcing follow on.

Then Pakistan should comeback aggressively with attacking mindset and get SA offguard.

go for it boyzzzzz

Did you see the bowling today?? - Lot of balls on the off-stump line and fuller length with swing and seam... You have to play with full face of the bat ,4-6 inches of the blade rather than 2 inches with an angle bat... Defense is key, bowler will frustrate and give you loose deliveries (if you stay at the wicket)... How playing your shots or angle bat will help??? - You need to look at your know knowledge about the game

Steyn for the most bowlers outswinger.. and and most of his balls are not hitting stump.. W

Why are we getting out.. NO need to fish, just wait for the bowl in your zone...Steyn no doubt is a class act.. but this is stupid batting from Hafees, Younis and the other... Steyn can be leaved

This test is pretty much over regardless of whether follow-on occurs, so I want to watch Pak bat again today to see how Hafeez and Jamshed go.

Lowest score in test cricket on the cards i thought i would never see the day like back in Colombo 2003 by Australia!

Shut up Ramiz so pathetic.
