South Africa vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Durban | Jan 22, 2019 | Pakistan innings Thread

i think 280 is par here, pak have lost 2 soft wkts

280 to put on will require some exceptional effort on this wicket. Even 250 plus will make Pak favourites in this match but its not gonna be easy.

It is a pleasure listening to Holding! He is a great thinker . .

Smith or Pollock said earlier that it is a 300 pitch. This does not look like a 300 pitch . . I think anything over 250 will be competitive.

Could get better batting under lights, probably why SA opted to bowl first

exactly losing focus is a sign of mental weakness in a batsman no ?

I have felt at times that Babar is a softie but its mostly in moments of pressure etc that Babar loses control.

In terms of grit and general focus i have not felt Babar gives up easily but these days its like Babar has started losing it far too often whether we are going great, adequate or poor or whatever. He has started having alot of brain fade moments.A very bad sign for him and us.

Wondering if dropping Imad is a mistake on this pitch.

oh well i hope he gets himself sorted, pak cant afford to have him lose his way

I just hope Fakhar doesn't throw it away when Shamsi comes on to bowl.He has this silly habit of taking on the spinner and getting dismissed as a result!

I read that Pakistan have won 90% of matches where Fakhar has scored above 20 runs. Happy days :afridi

It seems inconceivable, but hafeez so far has the measure of Olivier

Who remembers our first match in 93 here against SA? Where we defended 209 runs. Waqar Younis’s bowling in that match at the end was killer! South Africa were running away with the match heading into the last 10. Then the pace, reverse swing, and skill Waqar showed was just magical! Go watch it on Youtube if you haven’t seen it! Exciting stuff!

On these sort of slow-ish pitches, you can afford to play at 4-4.5 RPO for 40 overs but you need a power finisher at the death to overcome the slow innings and end up at 260-270.

Pakistan doesn't have the luxury of power finishers anymore since the retirements of Razzaq and Afridi so they have no one to make up the difference at the end of the innings. Right now it is imperative that Hafeez and Malik are at the crease or at least one of them bats at the end of 50 overs so that the finish is decent.

Hafeez Sobers at 38 is playing this Oliver guy better than anyone in our team and he’s only playing him for the second time. :))

Tell me about it.He is our best batsmen and that speaks volumes about our situation in world cricket.

i hope it improves , as an indian i will always want to win against pak but it wont be fun if you guys are unable to shape your talented guys..... in my opinion you need a better coach than arthur

Fakhar needs to concentrate on rotating the strike. Something like all the rest he struggles in.

Most of his shots have been trying to hit the ball as hard as he can and he can't time much at all in that process.

Was a perfect exhibition of fast bowling,Have seen on youtube.

Fakhar needs to go till the end somehow irrespective of the SR as this isnt an easy wicket for strokeplay

Why on earth are they playing Hussain so low down the order?? He should have came out when Babar got dismissed.

Hafeez should only be introduced after 25-30 overs, make him a finisher for us.

He has both technical and mental issues, although they are slight and easily rectifiable.
Technically, hes not looking at the ball long enough and on to his bat and also is playing too front-on against pacers.

Mickey will probably be gone after a probable humiliation in the world cup.
I'd remove Flower first though.

Unless somebody plays an innings to remember, it looks pretty dark
