South Africa vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Durban | Jan 22, 2019 | Pakistan innings Thread

There wont be uneven bounce like this wicket, it will be consistent even if there is this much bounce. I am not saying no batsmen will get out against the shot ball but it wouldnt be like.

Come on guys stop bashing Sarfaraz.
He will come at his rightful place, after Shaheen.

He scored even in the ODI series against NZ in UAE. I wont be to harsh on him just bcz of this series, these are poor cricket wickets where you shouldn’t be judging your batsmen on especially when you know world cup in Eng.

I hope SA get exposed in May/June. They are being so annyoing they know pitches aren’t gonna be like this in the WC. Yet after they get humbled on a flat wicket they decide to go back to these wickets. It’s all good though. I don’t really care SA can keeping making themselves feel good with these bilateral wins we’ll see who does better in the WC.

This was a cowardly act. Why sent a tailender when the team needs stability. He should have stepped up instead of hiding behind shadab. His leadership is exposed here.
Agreed! He has done this many times before though so I am not surprised. But there is nobody to keep a check!

This is injustice with Rizwan. He should have been playing today instead of talat.

Our batting lineup in ODIs is a circus, and looks like we have not learned anything from the Asia Cup humiliation.

You simply cannot afford someone like Shadab batting at 6 in a lineup like ours. This team is short of two specialist batsmen.

He is at best a 25 averaging batsman in the long run, and I am being generous.

Tailender?? Shadab has an average of 32? If the captain is in bad form he was right in sending someone in who is in better nick to set a platform for him to come in later on and play freely.
Is the Kaptaan ever in good form?

Seems like the match is done for. Or will we see a twist in the story making things interesting?

Small boundaries! need to have a go instead of sitting around like ducks!

Relax guys please bash the bash the batting once the innings is over. Anything can happen from here still. Optimism will make your world feel like a more positive place.

You went missing after the first odi, but as thins are looking bad for Pakistan here You are again.

Shadab displaying how to murder the short ball!Other batsmen must take a leaf out of his book!

Shadab isn't even a proper batsman and he's playing the short ball better than the specialists.

Shadab has displayed more leadership skills today than Sarfraz.

Calm, brave and sensible. :14:

Exactly, if it’s intentional then this is a pretty bad move from SA.

:six and :four yes Shadab hit a couple more do it for my house!

and lol ball was middled and this guy is saying top edge. :))

Shan Masood has to play the next match. The guy merits a place in the ten while many in the team don't. I am in anger over this issue.

Shady playing like this means its not that bad a pitch.
We need a a good total for a fighting chance.

Is it day 4 pitch?

Its really not coming on to the bat!

Not sure why whenever we watch world cricket we see lightening fast tracks, scores of 350 being chased down but Pakistan always gets this dull, slow tracks even abroad!

I think, main problem is that batsmen's game is developed predominantly on front foot and they can't shift the body weight against anything over 134K, and Fakhar has a horrible technique against short ball, while Malik is a serial bunny against anything short for 19 years now. Oblate, Sarfraz is also crouching too much. These are technical limitations, more than wicket which I don't think is going to be over by shifting venue only. There is 5 months time and definitely batting coach can work on that, but then it'll be less trouble in SAF as well. This is the slowest Durban wicket in my memory, may not be the batting paradise but definitely not a wicket where 3 of the top 4 should get out to short ball.

English pitches are slower than South Africa and Australia with the exception of Old Trafford and The Oval where the surfaces have good pace and bounce.

Cardiff is almost subcontinental in how slow it is and favours spinners. Lord's is fairly slow nowadays too. Taunton where we play Australia favours spinners too.

ICC was supposed to check the standard of pitches, looks like they havent toured SA for sometime. In tests one can might digest such wickets but making an ODI wicket like this is really poor stuff.

MMHS Shadab looks miles better than Malik which should nullify this senior manthraaaa.

Cant believe we gave an average bowler like Phelokawayo so much maidens

Its not just about the pace its about having consistency in pace and bounce. Wickets in Eng are one of the best going arounds and that is why we have seen a lot of big scores recently.

It obviously is have you heard the amount of times Faf has moaned and cried to pitch curators within South Africa about pitches not being to their teams strengths? Then last match all the South African commentators “This is a Pakistani wicket” Okay we’ll say what types of pitches we get in the WC. Invariable bounce from ball 1 or flat/dry wickets.

If they see out this spell, they’ll be rewarded with the spinner

Yes totally. Our current batsmen are naturally not very good against short balls but wickets like these just magnify that fact.

Let's see if the batsman have the brains to play out Rabada . .

He has bowled 5 overs already and Faf has brought him back to kill the game!

Can you just play him out? Or will you give a wicket to him?

We have been poor with such tactics for sometime, lets hope they improve their thinking process this time around.

Here comes Malik the typical desi mentality. Bash the spinners because you have more time to react!

I thought he should be perfect for No.7; but someone wanted Imad at 7 considering Shadab to be not that good whereas selfless Captain here has given him a chance to steal the credit by scoring some runs at tougher condition .... but I'll stick to my position - he should bat at 7. Good, busy player who'll hit loose balls and can run well.

Ask Rameez about philosophy, geography and whatever else, but don’t ask him anything about Pakistan cricket

I think its all mind games by Faf and the SA commentary brigade, this pitch wont become quicker under lights. This is why I think Pakistan really need to battle it out to get to 230, it would be a good score
