What's new

South Africa vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Durban | Jan 22, 2019 | Pakistan innings Thread

I have started to believe that he is a mediocre bowler who managed to fluke himself a allrounder- the guy has done nothing absolutely nothing to be called an all rounder

Agreed, but players take bit of time to develop and you invest into them by considering how valuable they can be for the team in the future.

There are countless number of players who started their career ordinarily but turned out to be really good cricketers.

The longest batting line up i have seen Pakistan play for a long time. This obviously means weakened bowling line up.

Hafeez, Malik and Talat should be good enough for 10 overs between them.

Testing conditions here, batsmen need to start rotating strike and being selective and positive with strokes.

SA batting looks really thin with Phehlukwayo at 5 down

I think, Andile used to bat at 7 earlier as well. Here they are missing Kock in top order, but SAF bottom half hasn't been like past oblate. At one point, when Kallis used to bowl full quota, they had like Boucher, Klusner, Pollock & Symcox from 7-10, which you don't get in every generation.

Actually Faheem has outperformed some main bowlers over the last year or so and Shadab his potential again and again. So if someone can bat as well shouldnt dismiss his performances as a bowler.

Since 2009, the average 1st innings total in Durban is 282.

God forbid if Imam played out a maiden, some people here will be having a meltdown.

Thats fine no problem with Faheem and Shadab playing but they need to get Amir in this team and take one batsman out.

Yes he used to but he isnt good enough, as his stats show as well. Can play a decent knock once in a blue moon.

Unfortunately Morris, Parnell, Preterious just werent good enough to carry the all rounders legacy for SA.

i would blame fakhar for this wicket .
he got open licence from captain and coach to attack but he is unable to do anything and giving maiden for fun

PAK needs to sort out shot ball playing, apart from Babar hardly anyone is comfortable. One reason definitely is UAE wickets.

On England pitches simple pace doesnt work! it has been shown again and again. Bowlers who can move the bowl side ways will be more handy.

ODIs and tests are a completely different ball game in England.

There's a reason Anderson doesn't play ODIs..

No shame in getting out to short balls but when the likes of:
Imam azhar asad sarfraz getting out playing like number 11s

Embarrassing!! No technique what so ever

Fakhar or Babar, atleast one needs to go till the 45th over to have a decent score

This Partnership needs to go to the 20th over at least so Hafeez can come out and do his thing.

Pitch doesnt look as flat with the new ball as the 1st ODI

Clearly a weakness has crept in bobby's batting , hes playing slightly more front-on these days

Morris still is good, but he probably played last against IND. They do have couple of emerging bowling all-rounders, we might see one in this series or against SRL.

The last time Pakistan won back-to-back ODIs in a overseas series against a top team (Australia, NZ, Ind, Eng, SAF) was Nov 2013.

Yes William Mulder is regarded as one of the next big thing in SA cricket.

Interested to see how long these two are kept on. Should look to target the other bowlers.

It's clearly testing conditions early on but they need to start rotating the strike.

Yes definitely, hopefully Fakhar and Babar are also thinking that and dont do anything odd

Things that Rameez has done to annoy me today:
- praised Pakistan’s running and then the batsmen didn’t score a single for the next 15 deliveries
- perpetuated inzi stereotype of not being particularly bright by implying he is incapable of understanding big ideas

I am talking about England as the WC is in England. We saw what happened to Australia in England with 3 out and out pace attacke. Pace with low bounce and good ODI wickets are easy to hit.

Keep posting today please. Your analysis was near spot-on last game and I'm not watching atm so will be catching up on this thread later today.

Gareth Dukes and Marcelo Peidt as well. Bowling all-rounder isn't a big issue for them, even Majraj can also come. It's the batting that needs to cover for AvD's loss, Markram somehow couldn't turn it in ODI so far.

Oliver is gonna bowl 1st change and is gonna bowl a lot of bouncers

Fakhar again trying to manufacture shots, just play normal shots and runs will come!
