What's new

South Africa vs Pakistan | 2nd ODI | Durban | Jan 22, 2019 | Pakistan innings Thread

What has happened to Babar?
Why does he lose his concentration all the time.

Awful shot.

Thats pretty meek by Babar! he has gone out softly in 2 matches!

I am talking about England as the WC is in England. We saw what happened to Australia in England with 3 out and out pace attacke. Pace with low bounce and good ODI wickets are easy to hit.

I know you are. But England produce completely different wickets for tests and ODIs and the ball is a big factor. Generally there is little to no movement in LOIs in England.

(P.s. I was referring to James Anderson).

Keep posting today please. Your analysis was near spot-on last game and I'm not watching atm so will be catching up on this thread later today.

Thanks. Really appreciate it. Will definitely try to keep up today.

Pitch clearly looks 2 paced. Need to get to 250+ somehow.

Yep, the shot came about as the ball stuck in the pitch. Clever from kg.

Again short ball - and this one was more of a long hop than short!!!

Last recognised batsmen in hafeez then "Bits and pieces" and the tail.

This is my problem with Babar Azam! He gives it away far too often . . Last bowl by Rabada . . most likely last over of the spell . . there's a deep square leg . . and you go for a half hearted pull shot . . just doesn't make sense . . cricket is about skills but the best players have succeeded because of how they use their brains!

Wonder what Grant Flower is doing when these guys still haven't learned to cope with the short ball!

Gareth Dukes and Marcelo Peidt as well. Bowling all-rounder isn't a big issue for them, even Majraj can also come. It's the batting that needs to cover for AvD's loss, Markram somehow couldn't turn it in ODI so far.

Janneman Milan is a good batting prospect across formats, yes but not a lot of batsmen coming through.

very good player but mentally weak ?

Sure we were wicket down but that does not mean there was alot of pressure anyways.

We are not chasing and there are lots of overs to come.It was just more of an issue of losing focus for a second or so i guess. The way his hand slipped off the bat as he played the shot showed that.

Fakhar 18 off 30

How is this kind of batting better than a number 9 or 10?

To be honest this doesnt look a good LOI wicket.

Wickets have been poor in SA for this tour.

exactly losing focus is a sign of mental weakness in a batsman no ?

Yes those kookaburra ball don't miss behave in England at all. 80-85mph bowlers are more effective as they tend to move the bowl around a bit more with variation.

Have to win this match. With De kock and Steyn back in the next 3 games, don't see pak winning any

Somebody will need to play out of their skin to get the total to 250 plus on this wicket

There wasnt much to cope with this delivery , just a poor poor shot. Batsmen need to make shot selection themselves.

Both batsmen got out in a similar fashion which raises questions on their ability to deal with the shorter length. We had this issue in the test series as well.If the batting coach had worked with them, the results would have been speaking for themselves!

Pitch has been double paced. Some balls have carried, others coming off the surface slowly.

Pakistani batsmen need to assess the conditions instead of swinging blindly. Par score may be lower than we first thought.

Pitch is a lot slower than what I've seen here previously. Talk of Big scores here may not be accurate but as the weather cools, it will become better to bat. Pakistan will need to bowl lots of cutters and slower balls and spinners.

It is a pleasure listening to Holding! He is a great thinker . .

Smith or Pollock said earlier that it is a 300 pitch. This does not look like a 300 pitch . . I think anything over 250 will be competitive.

Still can’t get over the idea that fakhar helmet is always askew

Have to concur, it’s not a dangerous pitch, but not a good one. You don’t need every delivery to misbehave, just one or two are good enough to put doubt
