SLC to dedicate 3rd ODI vs Bangladesh on behalf of fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara

Sri Lanka Cricket will dedicate the 03rd ODI between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on behalf of fast bowler Nuwan Kulasekara, who announced his retirement from international cricket.

SLC will invite the bowler to witness the 03rd ODI and will arrange a felicitation ceremony to honor Kulasekara for the yeomen services, he has rendered for Sri Lanka Cricket.

The fast bowler, who made his Sri Lanka debut during an ODI game against England in the year 2003, played a key part in Sri Lanka’s T20 Men’s World Cup victory achieved during the year 2014.

“Nuwan Kulasekara has been a vital cog in the Lankan lineup and played exceptional cricket during his time with the national team. His contributions made on the field brought in a lot of success for the national team. I wish him the best going forward,” said Shammi Silva, President of the SLC.

He was a key member of the Sri Lanka team, who entered the 2011 Men’s Cricket World Cup final against India and was the top-ranked bowler in the ICC ODI rankings announced on the 11th March, 2009 and remained in that position, till 26th September, that year.

“He was an exemplary figure, both on and off the field and a role model, which the young cricketers can emulate. Simplicity and decency were a hallmark of Kulasekara’s cricketing career, which helped him both on and off the field,’’ said Mr. Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will play the 03rd ODI of the ongoing series on the 31st July, 2019 at the RPICS, Colombo.

question of away would come in if they were playing outside sub-continent.. this is almost as close to home as they can get... also u reckon BD will do any better even at home home with Sqkib gone?

really doubt the results will be different if Sakib doesnt play .. its just as simple as tht ... BD only have Sakib ... rest actually lose faith in themselves when he isnt around

Finally Bangladesh has come back down to planet earth. After losing to Pakistan in the last game they’ve learnt they are still minnows. Anyways good too see Sri Lanka cricket rising again. Sri Lankan pitches in ODIs are almost identical to Mirpur. Both are low and slow, 250-280 scoring pitches. Away is when BD will be playing in SENA and WI. Sri Lanka isn't really away.

BD plays in front of thousands of cheering crowds at home (not the case in SL). It is a psychological advantage.

Having said that, no excuse for this performance. SL is very weak nowadays and 0-3 loss doesn't look good.
